Graphene oxide-lithium-ion batteries: inauguration of an era in energy storage technology

A significant driving force behind the brisk research on rechargeable batteries, particularly lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) in high-performance applications, is the development of portable devices and electric vehicles. Carbon-based materials, which have finite specific capacity, make up the anodes of LiBs. Many attempts are being made to produce novel nanostructured composite anode materials for LiBs that display cycle stability that is superior to that of graphite using graphene oxide. Therefore, using significant amounts of waste graphene oxide from used LiBs represents a fantastic opportunity to engage in waste management and circular economy. This review outlines recent studies, developments and the current advancement of graphene oxide-based LiBs, including preparation of graphene oxide and utilization in LiBs, particularly from the perspective of energy storage technology, which has drawn more and more attention to creating high-performance electrode systems. Strategies for translating proteomics discoveries into drug discovery for dementia

Tauopathies,diseases characterized by neuropathological aggregates of tau including Alzheimer's disease and subtypes of fro ntotemporal dementia,make up the vast majority of dementia *** there have been recent developments in tauopathy biomarkers and disease-modifying treatments,ongoing progress is required to ensure these are effective,economical,and accessible for the globally ageing *** such,continued identification of new potential drug targets and biomarkers is critical."Big data"studies,such as proteomics,can generate information on thousands of possible new targets for dementia diagnostics and therapeutics,but currently remain underutilized due to the lack of a clear process by which targets are selected for future drug *** this review,we discuss current tauopathy biomarkers and therapeutics,and highlight areas in need of improvement,particularly when addressing the needs of frail,comorbid and cognitively impaired *** highlight biomarkers which have been developed from proteomic data,and outline possible future directions in this *** propose new criteria by which potential targets in proteomics studies can be objectively ranked as favorable for drug development,and demonstrate its application to our group's recent tau interactome dataset as an example.

SARS-CoV2 Nsp3 protein triggers cell death and exacerbates amyloid β42-mediated neurodegeneration

Infection caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV2)virus,responsible for the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,induces symptoms including increased inflammatory response,severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS),cognitive dysfunction like brain fog,and cardiovascular ***-term effects of SARS-CoV2 COVID-19 syndrome referred to as post-COVID-19 syndrome on age-related progressive neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease remain *** the targeted misexpression of individual SARS-CoV2 proteins in the retinal neurons of the Drosophila melanogaster eye,we found that misexpression of nonstructural protein 3(Nsp3),a papain-like protease,ablates the eye and generates dark necrotic *** misexpression of Nsp3 in the eye triggers reactive oxygen species production and leads to apoptosis as shown by cell death reporters,terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase(TdT)dUTP Nick-end labeling(TUNEL)assay,and dihydroethidium ***,Nsp3 misexpression activates both apoptosis and autophagy mechanism(s)to regulate tissue *** expression of SARS-CoV2 Nsp3 in murine neuroblastoma,Neuro-2a cells,significantly reduced the metabolic activity of these cells and triggers cell *** of SARS-CoV2 Nsp3 in an Alzheimer's disease transgenic fly eye model(glass multiple repeats[GMR]>amyloidβ42)further enhances the neurodegenerative rough eye phenotype due to increased cell *** findings suggest that SARS-CoV2 utilizes Nsp3 protein to potentiate cell death response in a neurodegenerative disease background that has high pre-existing levels of neuroinflammation and cell death.

Good nutrition plays a crucial role in maintaining a balanced lifestyle. The beneficial effects of nutrition have been found to counteract nutritional disturbances with the expanded use of nutraceuticals to treat and manage cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and other developmental defects over the last decade. Flavonoids are found abundantly in plant-derived foods such as fruits, vegetables, tea, cocoa, and wine. Fruits and vegetables contain phytochemicals like flavonoids, phenolics, alkaloids, saponins, and terpenoids. Flavonoids can act as anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-microbial(antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral) antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-diarrheal agents. Flavonoids are also reported to upregulate apoptotic activity in several cancers such as hepatic, pancreatic, breast, esophageal, and colon. Myricetin is a flavonol which is naturally present in fruits and vegetables and has shown possible nutraceutical value. Myricetin has been portrayed as a potent nutraceutical that may protect against cancer. The focus of the present review is to present an updated account of studies demonstrating the anticancer potential of myricetin and the molecular mechanisms involved therein. A better understanding of the molecular mechanism(s) underlying its anticancer activity would eventually help in its development as a novel anticancer nutraceutical having minimal side effects.

BACKGROUND Immunization is a key component of primary health care and an indisputable human *** are critical to the prevention and control of infectious disease *** coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic and associated disruptions over the past two years have strained the health systems,with many children missing out on essential childhood *** To evaluate the immunization coverage among 12-23-month-old children in the rural areas of Community Health Centre(CHC)Dighal and to determine the factors influencing the existing immunization *** A coverage evaluation survey was conducted according to the 30-cluster sampling technique,which is the standard methodology for such surveys devised by World Health Organization.A total of 300 children aged 12-23 months were included,whose immunization details were noted from their immunization *** Full immunization rate was noted in 86.7%of the children,with partial and non-immunized children accounting for 9%and 4.3%*** full immunization dropout rate was 4.2%.The common reasons for partial or non-immunization were family problem including illness of mother,vaccine not being available and child being *** of birth(P=0.014)and availability of immunization card(P<0.001)were significant predictors of the immunization *** the study was conducted in 2020/2021,health services were disrupted due to the COVID-19 *** Due to the coverage being higher than the national average,it was concluded that the immunization coverage was optimal and not affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Anesthetic Management of a Patient with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type III Undergoing Emergent Caesarean Section: A Case Report

In this case report, we describe the anesthetic management for a 36-year-old G2P0010 at 36 weeks gestation with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type III who underwent an emergent caesarean section due to fetal footling breech position. The patient is a wheelchair-bound quadriplegic with kyphoscoliosis and a lack of cough reflex who required nasal continuous noninvasive ventilatory support (CNVS) for chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure. Surgery was done under general anesthesia due to its emergent nature, and the patient was successfully extubated and transitioned to nasal CNVS in the operating room at the end of the case. Postoperative care was provided in the medical intensive care unit for three days without complication and the patient was discharged home uneventfully.

Bonding and Reactivity in RB-AsR Systems (R = H, F, OH, CH3, CMe3, CF3, SiF3, BO)： Substituent Effects

Density functional theory-based calculations have been carried out to study the bonding and reactivity in RB-As R(R=H,F,OH,CH3,CMe_3,CF_3,SiF_3,BO)*** calculations demonstrated that all the studied systems adopted bent geometry(DR-B-As≈180°andDB-As-R≈90°or less).The reason for this bending was explained with the help of a valence-orbital *** potential energy surfaces for three possible isomers of RB-As R systems were also generated,indicating that the RB-As R isomer was more stable than R_2B-As R when R=SiF_3,CMe_3,and *** B-As bond character was analyzed using natural bond orbital(NBO)and Wiberg bond index(WBI)*** WBI values for B-As bonds in F3Si B-As SiF_3 and HB-As H were 2.254 and 2.209,respectively,indicating that this bond has some triple-bond character in these *** the B centers prefer nucleophilic attack,the As centers prefer electrophilic attack.

Design and simulation of a novel GaN based resonant tunneling high electron mobility transistor on a silicon substrate

For the first time, we have introduced a novel GaN based resonant tunneling high electron mobility transistor （RTHEMT） on a silicon substrate. A monolithically integrated GaN based inverted high electron mobility transistor （HEMT） and a resonant tunneling diode （RTD） are designed and simulated using the ATLAS simulator and MATLAB in this study. The 10% Al composition in the barrier layer of the GaN based RTD structure provides a peak-to-valtey current ratio of 2.66 which controls the GaN based HEMT performance. Thus the results indicate an improvement in the current-voltage characteristics of the RTHEMT by controlling the gate voltage in this structure. The introduction of silicon as a substrate is a unique step taken by us for this type of RTHEMT structure.

Modeling and Analysis of PV Configurations to Extract Maximum Power Under Partial Shading Conditions

Photovoltaics(PV)are widely used as renewable energy sources for standalone and grid connected PV *** these PV systems face major reduction in output power and efficiency due to Partial Shading Conditions(PSCs).This research paper focuses on the different choices of optimum PV Configuration under a given shading pattern to extract maximum power by mitigating mismatching *** PV configurations,such as Series(S),Series Parallel(SP),Total Cross Tied(TCT),Bridge Linked(BL),Honey Comb(HC)and Alternate Total Cross Tied–Bridge Linked(A-TCT-BL)are modeled and analyzed under *** shading patterns,such as center,diagonal,corner,L-shaped,short and narrow,short and wide,long and narrow,long and wide and random,are considered to study the behavior of a 6×6 array form of a PV *** performances are compared based on open circuit voltage,short circuit current,global maximum power point(GMPP),maximum voltage,maximum current,shading loss,fill factor,mismatching loss and efficiency.A novel Hybrid Configuration called A-TCT-BL PV Configuration is proposed to generate maximum power under PSCs and to minimize the number of cross ties and wiring *** Configuration is an integration of TCT and BL PV Configuration and the simulation results prove the capability of this proposed PV Configuration to generate maximum power,fill factor,efficiency and minimum mismatching loss compared to S,SP,BL and HC PV Configurations under a majority of the PSCs investigated.A Canadian Solar CS5P-200M PV module is considered for simulation and is simulated using Matlab/Simulink software.
