BACKGROUND The four components that make up the current dual-mobility artificial hip joint design are the femoral head,the inner liner,the outer liner as a metal cover to prevent wear,and the acetabular *** acetabular cup and the outer liner were constructed of 316L stainless *** the same time,the inner liner was made of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene(UHMWPE).As this new dual-mobility artificial hip joint has not been researched extensively,more tribological research is needed to predict *** thickness of the inner liner is a significant component to consider when calculating the contact *** To make use of finite element analysis to gain a better understanding of the contact behavior in various inner liner thicknesses on a new model of a dual-mobility artificial hip joint,with the ultimate objective of determining the inner liner thickness that was most suitable for this particular type of dual-mobility artificial hip *** In this study,the size of the femoral head was compared between two diameters(28 mm and 36 mm)and eight inner liner thicknesses ranging from 5 mm to 12 *** the finite element method,the contact parameters,including the maximum contact pressure and contact area,have been evaluated in light of the Hertzian contact *** simulation was performed statically with dissipated energy and asymmetric *** types of interaction were surface-to-surface contact and normal contact *** The maximum contact pressures in the inner liner(UHMWPE)at a head diameter of 28 mm and 36 mm are between 3.7-13.5 MPa and 2.7-10.4 MPa,*** maximum von Mises of the inner liner,outer liner,and acetabular cup are 2.4–11.4 MPa,15.7–44.3 MPa,and 3.7–12.6 MPa,respectively,for 28 mm *** the maximum von Mises stresses of the 36 mm head are 1.9-8.9 MPa for the inner liner,9.9-32.8 MPa for the outer liner,and 2.6-9.9 MPa for the acetabular cup.A head with a diameter of 28 mm should have an inner line

The Mutis-Timau Forest Complex,located on Timor Island,Indonesia,is a mountainous tropical forest area that gradually decreases due to deforestation and forest *** modelling studies based on patterns indicate that deforestation primarily occurs at lower elevations and near the boundaries of forests and settlements,often associated with shifting cultivation by local *** study adopts a process-based modelling approach,specifically the agent-based model,to simulate land changes,particularly farmers'expansion of agricultural land around the Mutis mountain *** underlying concept of this agent-based approach is the interaction between the human and environmental ***,representing the human system,interact with the land,which represents the environmental system,through land use decision-making *** research was conducted in the Community Forest of the Timor tengah Utara District,one of the sites within the Mutis-Timau Forest Complex with the highest deforestation *** use change simulations were performed using agent-based modelling from 1999 to 2030,considering the socio-economic conditions of farmers,spatial preferences,land use decisions,and natural *** results revealed that the agricultural area increased by 14%under the Business as Usual scenario and 5%under the Reducing Emission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation scenario,compared to the initial agricultural area of 245 *** probability of farmers deciding to extend agricultural activities was positively associated with the number of livestock maintained by farmers and the size of the village ***,the likelihood of farmers opting for agricultural extensification decreased with an increase in the area of private land and the farmer's *** findings are crucial for the managers of the Mutis-Timau Forest Complex and other relevant stakeholders,as they aid in arranging actions to combat deforestation,designing proper fore

Post Blast Tympanic Perforations, Clinical and Paraclinical study at six Yaounde Hospitals

Introduction: Post-blast tympanic perforations represent an entity of traumatic perforations;various mechanisms are at the origin of the latter, and the increase in conflicts and acts of violence are increasing the studies on this subject, but few data are available in our context. Objective: This paper aims to study post-blast tympanic perforations in Yaounde, specifically the epidemiological, clinical, and paraclinical aspects. Methodology: We conducted a descriptive cross-sectional study with retrospective and prospective data collection in six Yaounde hospitals over 63 months from January 1, 2018, to March 31, 2023. All patients with at least one post-blast tympanic perforation were included. socio-demographic, clinical and paraclinical data were collected on a questionnaire and analysed using sPss 28 software. Results: We included 124 patients. The prevalence of post-blast tympanic perforations was 0.1% of the consultations in the departments. 71 The average age was 28.6 ± 9.1 years, with extremes ranging from 7 to 49 years. The median consultation time was five days. The most frequent injury circumstances were physical aggression (81.45%) and armed conflict (10.5%). The injury mechanisms were slaps (75%), punches (21.74%) and grenades (4.8%). The main symptoms on admission were hearing loss (63.7%), tinnitus (58.1%) and otalgia (57.3%). The tympanic perforations were unilateral in all cases, the anterior-inferior location was more characteristic, and the deafness was conductive in 58.3% of cases, followed by mixed deafness in 23.3% of cases. Conclusion: Post-blast tympanic perforations are rare in consultation. The population is primarily male and from the second decade of life. The main circumstance is aggression.

Assessment of causes and future deforestation in the mountainous tropical forest of Timor Island, Indonesia

The Mutis-Timau Forest Complex,one of the remaining mountainous tropical forest areas in Timor Island,eastern Indonesia that covers an area of 31,984 ha,tends to decrease *** to secure mountain forest functions and counteract the negative impact of declining forest areas are often constrained by data uncertainty on factors contributing to *** this reason,this study attempts to develop models of deforestation and predict future deforestation in the Mutis-Timau Forest *** constructed models of deforestation that describe the relationship between deforestation and factors contributing to deforestation using spatial statistical *** this model,we used the deforestation data for the 1987-2017 period obtained from a previous study as dependent variables and the potential causes of deforestation generated from Geographic Information system spatial analysis as independent *** the probability of deforestation derived from the model,we predicted future deforestation under two different scenarios,namely,business-as-usual(as the reference scenario)and reducing emission fromdeforestation and forest *** findings showed that a positive relationship exists between probability of deforestation,distance to the settlement,and population density variables,whereas a negative relationship exists between likelihood of deforestation,elevation,slope,distance to the road,distance to the savanna,and forest management unit *** the 2017-2030 period,under the business-as-usual scenario,the Mutis-Timau Forest Complex will lose 1327.65 ha in forest area with an annual deforestation rate of 0.54%.Meanwhile,under the reducing emission from deforestation and forest degradation scenario,the overall forest loss was estimated to be 1237.11 ha with an annual deforestation rate of 0.50%.The predicted area of avoided deforestation in 2017-2030 under the reducing emission from deforestation and forest degradation scenario was 90.54

Introduction: Urogenital prolapse is the descent of one or more elements of the abdominal-pelvic contents into the vaginal cavity. The anterior, middle and posterior anatomical compartments may be involved giving rise to several types of genital prolapse. However, there are various therapeutic modalities ranging from observational procedures to surgery. In Yaounde, urogenital prolapse appears to be a rare clinical entity, and its treatment has not been clearly stated. There is limited data about this subject in our context. Our aim was to study the clinical and therapeutic aspects of urogenital prolapse in Yaounde. Methods: We conducted a descriptive cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection at the Yaounde Gynaecological Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital (YGOPH) and the Yaounde Central Hospital (YCH) over a period of 05 months (from February 2022 to June 2022). All women aged ≥30 years and all women with documented urogenital prolapse admitted to the maternity and urology departments of these two health facilities were included. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Data was analyzed using IBM sPss (statistical package for social sciences) software version 23.0 and the data were reported as mean, standard deviation, frequencies and percentages. Results: A total of 50 patients were recruited;the mean age was 45.8 ± 17 years. The age range was from 21 to 72 years. Majority of the patients were aged more than 55 years (32%). Most of the patients attended primary education (48%). Forty percent of the patients were housewives. The majority of the patients were from West Cameroon (26%). The most common reason for consultation was pelvic heaviness (54%). The most prevalent clinical sign was cystocele (56%), followed by hysterocele (54%). Effect of Urena lobataleaves extract on the improvements of lipid profiles on diabetic rats

This study was aimed to determine the mechanical strength of composites made from Agave cantala with an unsaturated polyester matrix and microcrystalline *** fiber(CF)was treated with 6%Na OH with immersion times of 0 h(UF),3 h(AK3),6 h(AK6),9 h(AK9),and12 h(AK12).Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)analysis shows that treated CF has higher thermal stability than CF without *** fiber was tested by X-ray *** alkali treatment with a 6-h soaking,it had a crystallinity index of 73.65%.scanning electron microscopy(sEM)showed that the fibers were cleaner after alkali treatment because hemicellulose,wax,and other impurities were *** of the contact angle and surface energy showed that treated CF has smaller contact angles and greater surface energy.

The Global Positioning system(GPs) Indonesian Continuously Operating Reference stations(InaCORs)network has been used for various applications ranging from land administration to *** dynamic process plays a significant role in almost all Indonesia regions except in Kalimantan Island since it’s located on the stable continental plate. Therefore, the study of deformation in an area with less tectonic activities would be relatively simple to elucidate another terrestrial process. Here, we analyzed the deformation process in Kalimantan Island using continuous geodetic observation. We found that vertical displacement shows oscillation signals which are related to the hydrological cycle of water storage changes. Along with the GPs data, we utilized rain precipitation data to analyze both spatial and temporal variation of vertical displacement to support the hypothesis of elastic response to the load of water mass variations. Finally, we emphasized that continuous GPs observation in Kalimantan is reliable for detecting seasonal hydrological water storage changes.
