The domino four-component reaction of hydrated hydrazine, dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate, isatin and malononitrile or ethyl cycanoacetate in ethanol in the presence of triethylamine afforded the polysubstituted spiro[indoline-3.4＇-pyrano[2.3-clpyrazole] derivatives in satisfactory yields. Under similar conditions, the four-component reaction containing acenaphthenequinone also resulted in the spiro[acenaphthyl-3.4＇-pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazole] in good yields.

p-TsOH catalyzed Diels-Alder reaction of 3-(indol-3-yl)maleimides with 3-phenacylideneoxindoles in toluene at 80℃for two hours afforded cis/trans isomers of 3 a’,4’,6’,10 c’-tetrahydrospiro[indoline-3,5’-pyrrolo[3,4-c]carbazoles]in nearly comparable yields,which could be easily converted to the corresponding 4’,6’-dihydrospiro[indoline-3,5’-pyrrolo[3,4-c]carbazole]in high yields and with high diastereoselectivity by further DDQ ***,the similar reaction of 3-(indol-3-yl)maleimides with 2-arylidene-1,3-indanediones in toluene 80℃and sequential DDQ oxidation afforded functionalized dihydrospiro[indene-2,5’-pyrrolo[3,4-c]carbazoles]as major products.

The condensation reaction ofω-aminoalkyleneamide-functionalized pillar[5]arenes with 2-(4-([2,2’:6’,2〃-terpyridin]-4’-yl)phenoxy)acetic acid or 4-(4-([2,2’:6’,2"-terpyridin]-4’-yl)phenoxy)butanoic acid in dry chloroform at room temperature under the catalysis of HOBT/EDCl resulted in novel pillar[5]arene diamido-bridged terpyridine derivatives.~1 H NMR and 2 D NOESY spectra clearly indicated that the interesting[1]rotaxanes were formed by longer alkylene such as propylene,butylene and hexylenediamido chains threading into the cavity of the pillar[5]arene and with larger terpyridine acting as the ***,the shorter ethylenediamido chain only exists outer of cavity of pillar[5]arene and the molecule exist on free form.

The salts of [(μ -RE)(μ-CO)Fe2(CO)6] -[Et3NH]+(E = S. Se, Te) react withbenzenesulfinyl chloride to give the μ -sulfinyl group bridged complexes (μ-RE)(μ- PhS=O)Fe2(CO6), in good yields. Whereas the salts [(μ -RS)(μ -CO)Fe2(CO)6]-[Et_3NH]+(R =t- Bu, Ph) react with carbon disulfide to yield the dithioformato-bridged anionic salts [(μ -RS)(μ- S=C-S)Fe2(CO)6]-[Et3NH], which react in situ at the exo-sulfur atom of the dithioformato-groupwith diverse α.β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds to give Michael addition products inmoderate yields.

The BF_3OEt_2 catalyzed one-pot 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of benzylamines,isatins and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate in dry methylene dichloride afforded the functionalized dihydrospiro[indoline-3,2＇-pyrroles]in moderate to good yields and with high *** reaction was accomplished by the tandem 1,3-dioplar cycloaddition of in situ generated azomethine ylide with acetylenedicarboxylate and the nucleophilic addition of pyrrole ring to second molecular acetylenedicarboxylate.

The three-component reaction of triphenylphosphine,dimethyl hex-2-en-4-ynedioate and arylidene N,N’-dimethylbarbituric acids in dry methylene dichloride at room temperature afforded trans-1,3-disubstituted 7,9-diazaspiro[4.5]dec-1-enes in good yields and with high ***,the similar three-component reaction with arylidene Meldrum acids resulted in a mixtures of cis/trans-1,2-disubstituted 7,9-dioxaspiro[4.5]***,the three-component reaction of triphenylphosphine,dimethyl but-2-ynedioate and arylidene Meldrum acids gave polysubstituted 5-(triphe nyl-λ~5-phosphanylidene)cyclopenta-1,3-die nes.A plausible reaction mechanism was proposed for the formation of various products with different regioselectivity and diastereoselectivity.

The functionalized calix[4]pyrrole meso-substituted Schiff bases were conveniently prepared by four- step synthetic route. Furthermore, the nickel and copper complexes of calix[4]pyrrole meso-substituted Schiff base with 1：2 stoichiometry were obtained. The crystal structures of the calix[4]pyrroles and their metal complexes were determined by X-ray diffraction.
