Multi-scale analysis on the pulverized coal flow behaviors under high,pressure dense-phase pneumatic conveying

To deeply knowledge of the flow behaviors of pulverized coal particles in dense gas-solid two-phase flow,a multi-scale analysis method based on electrostatic sensor array is applied for the multi-scale characterization of flow behaviors of dense gas-solid *** experimental results indicate that:for steady flow,with the increment of conveying pressure difference,the individual particles increase and the particle clusters decrease,the individual particle distribution is always inhomogeneous but the particle cluster distribution tends to be more homogeneous over the cross-section of pipe,while the average flow behavior of pulverized coal particles is always in the relatively static *** unsteady flow,the average flow behavior of pulverized coal particles is dynamic,and the flow behaviors of the multi-scale flow structures over the cross-section of pipe are all significantly ***,the effect of particle size on flow behavior of pulverized coal is also investigated and validated.

In recent years,the power conversion efficiency of organic solar cells(OSCs)and perovskite(PVSCs)has increased to over 19%and25%,***,the long-term stability of OSCs and PVSCs was also significantly improved with a better understanding of the degradation mechanism and the improvement of materials,morphology,and interface *** both the efficiency and lifetime of solar cells are approaching the commercialization limit,fabrication methods for large-area OSCs and PVSCs that can be directly transferred from lab to fab become essential to promote the industrialization of OSCs and *** with the coating methods,inkjet printing is a mature industrial technology with the advantages of random digital patterning,excellent precision and fast printing speed,which is considered to have great potential in solar cell *** efforts have been devoted to developing inkjet-printed OSCs and PVSCs,and much progress has been achieved in the last few *** this review,we first introduced the working principle of inkjet printing,the rheology requirements of inks,and the behaviors of the *** then summarized the recent research progresses of the inkjet-printed OSCs and PVSCs to facilitate knowledge transfer between the two *** the end,we gave a perspective on inkjet-printed OSCs and PVSCs.

A two-dimensional Kinetic Monte Carlo method has been developed for simulating the physical vapor deposition of thin Cu films on Cu substrate. An improved embedded atom method was used to calculate the interatomic potential and determine the diffusion barrier energy and residence time. Parameters, including incident angle,deposition rate and substrate temperature, were investigated and discussed in order to find their influences on the thin film morphology.

Conventionally, multiple reference frame(MRF) method and sliding mesh(SM) method are used in the simulation of stirred tanks, however, both methods have limitations. In this study, a hybrid immersed-boundary(IB)technique is developed in a finite difference context for the numerical simulation of stirred tanks. IBs based on Lagrangian markers and solid volume fractions are used for moving and stationary boundaries, respectively, to achieve optimal efficiency and accuracy. To cope with the high computational cost in the simulation of stirred tanks, the technique is implemented on computers with hybrid architecture where central processing units(CPUs) and graphics processing units(GPUs) are used together. The accuracy and efficiency of the present technique are first demonstrated in a relatively simple case, and then the technique is applied to the simulation of turbulent flow in a Rushton stirred tank with large eddy simulation(LES). Finally the proposed methodology is coupled with discrete element method(DEM) to accomplish particle-resolved simulation of solid suspensions in small stirred tanks. It demonstrates that the proposed methodology is a promising tool in simulating turbulent flow in stirred tanks with complex geometries.

Far-red(FR) light regulates phytochrome-mediated morphological and physiological plant *** study aims to investigate how greenhouse tomato morphology and production response to different durations of FR light during daytime and at the end of day(EOD).High-wire tomato plants were grown under intra-canopy lighting consisting of red(peak wavelength at 640 nm) and blue(peak wavelength at 450 nm) light-emitting diodes(LEDs) with photosynthetic photon flux density(PPFD) of 144 μmol m–2 s–1 at 10 cm away from the lamps,and combined with overhead supplemental FR light(peak wavelength at 735 nm) with PPFD of 43 μmol m–2 s–1 at 20 cm below the *** were exposed to three durations of FR supplemental lighting including: 06:00–18:00(FR12),18:00–19:30(EOD-FR1.5),18:00–18:30(EOD-FR0.5),and control that without supplemental FR *** results showed that supplemental FR light significantly stimulated stem elongation thereby resulting in longer plants compared with the ***,FR light altered leaf morphology toward higher leaf length/width ratio and larger leaf *** altered plant architecture in FR supplemented plants led to a more homogeneous light distribution inside the *** plant biomass was increased by 9–16% under supplemental FR light in comparison with control,which led to 7–12% increase in ripe fruit *** sugar content of the ripe tomato fruit was slightly decreased by longer exposure of the plants to FR *** matter partitioning to different plant organs were not substantially affected by the FR light *** significant differences were observed among the three FR light treatments in plant morphology as well as yield and biomass *** conclude that under intra-canopy lighting,overhead supplemental FR light stimulates tomato growth and *** supplementary of EOD-FR0.5 is more favorable,as it consumes less electricity but induces similar effects on plant morphology and yield.

A general solution for 3D Stokes flow is given which is different from, and more compact than the exist ing ones and more compact than them in that it involves only two scalar harmonic functions. The general solution deduced is combined with the potential theory method to study the Stokes flow induced by a rigid plate of arbitrary shape trans lating along the direction normal to it in an unbounded fluid. The boundary integral equation governing this problem is derived. When the plate is elliptic, exact analytical results are obtained not only for the drag force but also for the ve locity distributions. These results include and complete the ones available for a circular plate. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the main results for circular and ellip tic plates. In particular, the elliptic eccentricity of a plate is shown to exhibit significant influences.

The classical two-scale asymptotic paradigm provides macroscopic and microscopic analyses for the elastodynamic homogenization of periodic composites based on the spatial or/and temporal variable,which offers an approximate framework for the asymptotic homogenization analysis of the motion ***,in this framework,the growing complexity of the homogenization formulation gradually becomes an obstacle as the asymptotic order *** such a context,a compact,fast,and accurate asymptotic paradigm is *** work reviews the high-order spatial two-scale asymptotic paradigm with the effective displacement field representation and optimizes the implementation by symmetrizing the tensor to be ***,the modified implementation gets rid of the excessive memory consumption required for computing the high-order tensor,which is demonstrated by representative one-and two-dimensional *** numerical results show that(1)the contrast of the material parameters between media in composites directly affects the convergence rate of the asymptotic results for the homogenization of periodic composites,(2)the convergence error of the asymptotic results mainly comes from the truncation error of the modified asymptotic homogenized motion equation,and(3)the excessive norm of the normalized wavenumber vector in the two-dimensional inclusion case may lead to a non-convergence of the asymptotic results.
