Toxicity and sub-lethal effect of endemic plants from family Anacardiaceae on oviposition behavior of Aedes albopictus

Objective: To evaluate the lethal concentration, oviposition deterrence and ovicidal activity of acetone extracts of Melanochyla fasciculiflora(M. fasciculiflora) leaf and Gluta renghas(G. renghas) leaf against Aedes albopictus(Ae. albopictus). Methods: To determine the lethal concentration of Anacardiaceae, ten test concentrations of the extracts ranging from 200 to 650 mg/L were selected for larvicidal bioassays and 25 early fourth instar larvae were exposed to the extracts for 24 h. The sub-lethal concentrations used for oviposition deterrence was the value of LC25, LC50 and LC75 from above study which is 235 mg/L, 470 mg/L and 705 mg/L for M. fasciculiflora extract and 187.5 mg/L, 375 mg/L and 562.5 mg/L for G. renghas extract, respectively. Twenty gravid Ae. albopictus were allowed to oviposit in different treated concentrations. For oviciding procedure, a total of 300 eggs of Ae. albopictus were soaked in solution with each treated concentration as mentioned above for 24 h. After 24 h, eggs were sieved and soaked in seasoned water, and hatching rates were calculated. For comparison, only seasoned water was used in control ***: G. renghas demonstrated lower LC50 value of 372.80 mg/L compared to M. fasciculiflora(467.90 mg/L). The activity index of negative oviposition revealed the deterrent effect and thus, caused a remarkable negative response resulting in oviposition of fewer eggs compared with control(without plant extract). The acetone extract of M. fasciculiflora was more effective than G. renghas extract in displaying oviposition deterrence potential since the latter did not possess the deterring effect within the concentration range tested. However, both plant extracts exhibited excellent oviciding effect as 92.33% of eggs failed to be hatched when treated with 705.0 mg/L of M. fasciculiflora and 86.67% with 562.5 mg/L of G. renghas. The durability of wear-resistant tetrahedral amorphous carbon（ta-C） coatings is intimately linked to their thickness and the concentration of *** enhance the lifespan of the coatings,we have prepared a multilayer coating consisting of alternating layers of Ti and ta-C,denoted as（Ti/ta-C）_n,using arc ion plating.A multi-layer structure in conjunction with stage cooling is employed to enhance the thickness and promote *** results indicate that the ID/IGvalue,representing the ratio of the intensity of the D peak to that of the G peak in Raman spectroscopy,decreases from 0.85 when no stage cooling is applied to 0.35 when stage cooling is employed,suggesting an enhancement in the fraction of sp3bonds within the *** obtained（Ti/ta-C）_n multilayer coating without peeling off has a maximum thickness of 1.14 μm,which is almost double that of the ta-C coating single layer *** the same time,the coating has a low coefficient of friction,down to 0.069,and maintains excellent friction properties with a wear rate of 3.4×10-6mm3·N-1·*** results conclusively show that the preparation technology can enhance both thickness and sp3bonding in ta-C coatings,significantly expanding their utility across tools,molds,and precision engineering components.

Bullous pemphigoid associated with acquired hemophilia A: A case report

BACKGROUND Acquired hemophilia A (AHA) is a rare and potentially severe bleeding disordercaused by circulating autoantibodies against factor Ⅷ (FⅧ). In approximately50% of the patients, the condition is associated with autoimmune diseases,cancers, medication use, pregnancy, and the post-partum period. Bullous pemphigoid(BP) is a chronic autoimmune subepidermal blistering disease associatedwith tissue-bound and circulating autoantibodies against BP antigens 180 (BP180)and 230 (BP230). AHA-associated BP has a high mortality rate;hence, the understandingof this disease must *** SUMMARY A 69-year-old man presented with erythema, blisters, blood blisters, and crustsaccompanied by severe pruritus for more than 20 days, and ecchymosis andswelling on his left upper arm for 3 days. Pathological examination revealed asubepidermal blister that contained eosinophils. Laboratory tests showed that theBP180 autoantibody levels had increased, isolated activated partial thromboplastintime was notably prolonged (115.6 s), and coagulation FⅧ activity wasextremely low (< 1.0%). Furthermore, the FⅧ inhibitor titer had greatlyincreased (59.2 Bethesda units). Therefore, the patient was diagnosed as having BP associated with AHA, prescribed 0.05% topical halometasone cream, and transferred to a higher-level hospitalfor effective treatment;however, he died after 2 *** AHA associated BP is rare, dangerous, and has a high mortality rate. Therefore, its timely diagnosis and effectivetreatment are necessary.

Multi-dimensional classification via stacked dependency exploitation

Multi-dimensional classification(MDC) aims to build classification models for multiple heterogenous class spaces simultaneously, where each class space characterizes the semantics of an object w.r.t. one specific dimension. Modeling dependencies among class spaces plays a key role in solving MDC tasks, where most approaches work by assuming directed acyclic graph(DAG) structure or random chaining structure over class spaces. Different from existing probabilistic strategies, a deterministic strategy named Seem for dependency modeling is proposed in this paper via stacked dependency exploitation. In the first-level, pairwise dependencies are considered which can be modeled more reliably than modeling full dependencies among all class spaces by DAG or chaining structure. In the second-level, the class label of unseen instance *** class space is determined by adaptively stacking predictive outputs from first-level pairwise *** results show that stacked dependency exploitation leads to superior performance against stateof-the-art MDC approaches.

Global dimension of weak smash product

In Artin algebra representation theory there is an important result which states that when the order of G is invertible in A then ***（AG）=***（A）. With the development of Hopf algebra theory, this result is generalized to smash product algebra. As known, weak Hopfalgebra is an important generalization of Hopf algebra. In this paper we give the more general result, that is the relation of homological dimension between an algebra A and weak smash product algebra A#H, where H is a finite dimensional weak Hopf algebra over a field k and A is an H-module algebra.

Multi-dimensional Classification via Selective Feature Augmentation

In multi-dimensional classification(MDC), the semantics of objects are characterized by multiple class spaces from different dimensions. Most MDC approaches try to explicitly model the dependencies among class spaces in output space. In contrast, the recently proposed feature augmentation strategy, which aims at manipulating feature space, has also been shown to be an effective solution for MDC. However, existing feature augmentation approaches only focus on designing holistic augmented features to be appended with the original features, while better generalization performance could be achieved by exploiting multiple kinds of augmented *** this paper, we propose the selective feature augmentation strategy that focuses on synergizing multiple kinds of augmented ***, by assuming that only part of the augmented features is pertinent and useful for each dimension′s model induction, we derive a classification model which can fully utilize the original features while conduct feature selection for the augmented features. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, we generate three kinds of simple augmented features based on standard k NN, weighted k NN, and maximum margin techniques, respectively. Comparative studies show that the proposed strategy achieves superior performance against both state-of-the-art MDC approaches and its degenerated versions with either kind of augmented features.
