Zwitterionic ring-opening polymerization of macrocyclic ethyleneoxy-substituted carbonate:Access to cyclic PEg-like polycarbonate

The innovation in polymer design to rival conventional polyethylene glycol(PEg)is an important approach to achieving a more sustainable ***,cyclic PEg-like polycarbonates having high molecular weight(4.4–49.5 kg/mol)were enabled through zwitterionic ring-opening polymerization(ZROP)of macrocyclic carbonates(MCs)mediated by N-heterocyclic carbene(NHC).The thermodynamic behavior of polymerization depends on the ring size of *** this process,the ZROP of 11-membered MC was driven by the cha.ge of enthalpy(ΔH_(p))which differed from the ZROP of 14-membered MC driven by the entropic cha.ge(ΔS_(p)).Cyclic polycarbonates depicted improved thermostability(T_(d5%)≥204℃)and higher glass transition temperatures(T_(g)>–40℃)in comparison to their linear analogues(T_(d5%)≤185℃,T_(g)~–50℃).In addition,the mechanism of ZROP of MC was addressed through computational study.A distinct mechanism of polymerization distinguishable from the well-known NHC-mediated ZROP of cyclic esters was revealed,where the zwitterion from nucleophilic addition to MC,*** intermediate,cannot be ring-opened probably due to the delocalization of negative cha.ge on the carbonate group,but serves as an active center for the *** comparison to PEg,the attained polymer demonstrated comparable hydrophilic and biocompatible properties,as revealed by the results of contact angle and in vitro cytotoxicity studies,suggesting that cyclic polycarbonate hold the promise as the alternative of PEg.

This study reports on an investigation of fine and coarse carbonaceous particulate matters(PM)in Tachileik,eastern Myanmar,during the dry and wet seasons of *** carbon compositions,including organic carbon(OC)and elemental carbon(EC),in each size(PM10-2.5,PM2.5-1.0,and PM1.0-0.5)were determined by a carbon *** average total mass concentration of the three fractions of particle samples during the dry season was higher(51.23±23.86μg/m3)than that of the wet season(14.00±5.26μg/m3).The results indicate that OC and EC levels were highest for PM1.0-0.5 during the dry season and the sizes were similar for both *** OC/EC ratios varied in different seasons,from 1.93 to 4.40 and 4.13 to 5.25 in the dry and wet seasons,*** was sub-divided into char-EC and soot-EC;the char-EC/soot-EC in the dry season was higher than in the wet season,signifying that biomass burning is the main particle source during the dry ***,vehicle emissions dominated during the wet *** effective carbon ratio(ECR)suggested that finer particles contributed more to global *** information is important in terms of air quality control and mitigation in Myanmar and elsewhere.

Stress tolerance plays a vital role in ensuring the effectiveness of piezoresistive sensing films used in flexible pressure ***,existing methods for enhancing stress tolerance employ dome-shaped,wrinkle-shaped,and pyramidal-shaped microstructures in intricate molding and demolding processes,which introduce significant fabrication challenges and limit the sensing *** address these shortcomings,this paper presents periodic microslits in a sensing film made of multiwalled carbon nanotubes and polydimethylsiloxane to realize ultrahigh stress tolerance with a theoretical maximum of 2.477 MPa and a sensitivity of 18.092 kPa−*** periodic microslits permit extensive deformation under high pressure(e.g.,400 kPa)to widen the detection ***,the periodic microslits also enhance the sensitivity based on simultaneously exhibiting multiple synapses within the sensing interface and between the periodic sensing *** proposed solution is verified by experiments using sensors based on the microslit strategy for wind direction detection,robot movement sensing,and human health *** these experiments,vehicle load detection is achieved for ultrahigh pressure sensing under an ultrahigh pressure of over 400 kPa and a ratio of the contact area to the total area of 32.74%.The results indicate that the proposed microslit strategy can achieve ultrahigh stress tolerance while simplifying the fabrication complexity of preparing microstructure sensing films.

Achieving a superior Na storage performance of Fe-based Prussian blue cathode by coating perylene tetracarboxylic dianhydride amine

Fe-based Prussian blue(Fe-PB)cathode material shows great application potential in sodium(Na)-ion batteries due to its high theoretical capacity,long cycle life,low cost,and simple preparation ***,the crystalline water and vacancies of Fe-PB lattice,the low electrical conductivity,and the dissolution of metal ions lead to limited capacity and poor cycling *** this work,a perylene tetracarboxylic dianhydride amine(PTCDA)coating layer is successfully fabricated on the surface of Fe-PB by a liquid-phase *** aminated PTCDA(PTCA)coating not only increases the specific surface area and electronic conductivity but also effectively reduces the crystalline water and vacancies,which avoids the erosion of Fe-PB by ***,the PTCA layer reduces the cha.ge transfer resistance,enhances the Na-ion diffusion coefficient,and improves the structure *** PTCA-coated Fe-PB exhibits superior Na storage performance with a first discha.ge capacity of 145.2 mAh g^(−1) at 100 mA g^(−1).Long cycling tests exhibit minimal capacity decay of 0.027%per cycle over 1000 cycles at 1 A g^(−1).Therefore,this PTCA coating strategy has shown promising competence in enhancing the electrochemical performance of Fe-PB,which can potentially serve as a universal electrode coating strategy for Na-ion batteries.

Antioxidant effects of the aqueous extract of turmeric against hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress in spotted seabass(Lateolabrax maculatus)

Intensive aquaculture-induced oxidative stress is detrimental to fish health and *** plants show promise as natural health boosters and antioxidants in the aquaculture ***,this work investigated the effects of turmeric aqueous extract(TAE)on the growth performance,antioxidant status,and hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)-induced oxidative stress in spotted seabass(Lateolabrax maculatus).Fish were fed diets supplemented with 0(Con),2(TAE2),or 4(TAE4)g/kg TAE for eight weeks,then were injected with *** results showed that dietary supplementation of TAE did not affect fish growth,feed utilization,or body *** treatment increased liver antioxidant enzyme activities and decreased liver malondialdehyde content and serum levels of glutamate oxalate transaminase,glutamate pyruvate transaminase,and lactate ***,the increases in mortality,liver malondialdehyde content,and serum biomarkers of liver injury in the H2O2-treated fish were inhibited as a consequence of the TAE *** addition,TAE treatment activated the Nrf2/Keap1 pathway in the liver,supported by the up-regulated expression of nrf2,ho-1,and gclc,and down-regulated keap1 ***,dietary incorporation of TAE protected against H2O2-induced oxidative stress in spotted seabass probably by enhancing antioxidant capacity through the Nrf2/Keap1 pathway.

Atomic-Scale Insights into Damage Mechanisms of ggr15 Bearing Steel Under Cyclic Shear Fatigue

Alternating shear stress is a critical factor in the accumulation of damage during rolling contact fatigue,severely limiting the service life of ***,the specific mechanisms responsible for the cyclic shear fatigue damage in bearing steel have not been fully *** the mechanical response and microstructural evolution of a model ggr15 bearing steel under cyclic shear loading are investigated through the implementation of molecular dynamics *** samples undergo 30 cycles under three different loading conditions with strains of 6.2%,9.2%,and 12.2%,*** findings indicate that severe cyclic shear deformation results in early cyclic softening and significant accumulation of plastic damage in the bearing ***,samples subjected to higher strain-controlled loading exhibit higher plastic strain energy and shorter fatigue ***,strain localization is identified as the predominant damage mechanism in cyclic shear fatigue of the bearing steel,which accumulates and ultimately results in fatigue ***,simulation results also revealed the microstructural reasons for the strain localization(e.g.,BCC phase transformation into FCC and HCP phase),which well explained the formation of white etching *** study provides fresh atomic-scale insights into the mechanisms of cyclic shear fatigue damage in bearing steels.

Effects of Wuwei Xiaodu Decoction on Uterine Energy Metabolism and Serum Inflammatory Factors in Rats with Acute Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

[Objectives]To observe the effects of Wuwei Xiaodu Decoction on uterine energy metabolism and serum inflammatory factors in the acute pelvic inflammatory disease(APID)model.[Methods]75 Wistar rats(females)were randomly divided into control group,model group and Wuwei Xiaodu Decoction low,medium and high dose groups(n=15).Except for the control group,the rat APID model was established by right uterine *** the fifth day after inoculation,the low,medium and high dose groups of Wuwei Xiaodu Decoction were administered at 4,8 and 16 g/kg,and the control group and model group received normal *** were killed 12 h after nondose administration,blood was collected from the abdominal aorta and measured by ELISA for serum interleukin-6(interleukin-6,IL-6),IL-8,and C-reactive proteins(CRP);the right uterus of rats was tested for high-energy phosphate adenosine phosphate(AMP),adenosine diphosphate(ADP),adenosine triphosphate(ATP)and total adenine nucleotides(TAN)level to evaluate the uterine energy metabolism.[Results]AMP,ADP,ATP and TAN were significantly higher in the Wuwei Xiaodu Decoction of low,medium and high dose than the model group,while the serum IL-6,IL-8 and CRP were significantly lower than the model group,and the difference between the low,medium and high doses(Pgy metabolism and inhibit inflammatory response in APID model rats.

Release profile and metabolism of bound polyphenols of oat bran during in vitro simulated gastrointestinal digestion and colonic fermentation

Whole-grain foods have attracted emerging attention due to their health benefits. Whole grains are rich in bound polyphenols (BPs) linked with dietary fibers， which is largely underestimated compared with free polyphenols. In this study， in vitro simulated gastrointestinal digestion and colonic fermentation models were used to study the release profile and metabolism of BPs of oat bran. Significantly higher level of BPs was released during in vitro colon fermentation (3.05 mg gAE/g) than in gastrointestinal digestion (0.54 mg gAE/g). Five polyphenols were detected via LC-MS and their possible conversion pathways were speculated. Released BPs exhibited chemical antioxidant capacity. 16S rRNA sequencing further revealed that Clostridium butyricum， Enterococcus faecalis， Bacteroides acidifaciens were the key bacteria involved in the release of BPs， and this was verified by whole-cell transformation. Our results helped to explain the possible mechanism of the health benefits of BPs in whole grains.

Structural regulation of coal-derived hard carbon anode for sodium-ion batteries via pre-oxidation

Hard carbon(HC)is broadly recognized as an exceptionally prospective candidate for the anodes of sodium-ion batteries(SIBs),but their practical implementation faces substantial limitations linked to precursor factors,such as reduced carbon yield and increased ***,a cost-effective approach is proposed to prepare a coal-derived HC anode with simple pre-oxidation followed by a post-carbonization process which effectively expands the d_(002)layer spacing,generates closed pores and increases defect *** these modifications,the resulting HC anode attains a delicate equilibrium between plateau capacity and sloping capacity,showcasing a remarkable reversible capacity of 306.3 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.03 A·g^(-1).Furthermore,the produ ced HC exhibits fast reaction kinetics and exceptional rate performance,achieving a capacity of 289 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1 A·g^(-1),equivalent to~94.5%of that at 0.03 A·g^(-1).When implemented in a full cell configuration,the impressive electrochemical performance is evident,with a notable energy density of 410.6 Wh·kg^(-1)(based on cathode mass).In short,we provide a straightforward yet efficient method for regulating coal-derived HC,which is crucial for the widespread use of SIBs anodes.
