Cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)is characterized by heterogeneous mutations and a refractory ***,the development of a model for effective drug screening is urgently *** the established therapeutic testing models for CCA are often ineffective,we fabricated an enabling three-dimensional(3d)-bioprinted CCA-on-a-chip model that to a good extent resembled the multicellular microenvironment and the anatomical microstructure of the hepato-vascular-biliary system to perform high-content antitumor drug ***,cholangiocytes,hepatocytes,and vascular endotheliocytes were employed for 3d bioprinting of the models,allowing for a high degree of spatial and tube-like microstructural ***,it was possible to observe CCA cells attached to the surfaces of the gelatin methacryloyl(GelMA)hydrogelembedded microchannels and overgrown in a thickening manner,generating bile duct stenosis,which was expected to be analogous to the in vivo *** 4000 differentially expressed genes were detected in the CCA cells in our 3d coculture model compared to the traditional two-dimensional(2d)*** screening revealed that the CCA cells grown in the 3d traditional model were more sensitive to the antitumoral prodrug than those in the 2d monoculture due to drug biotransformation by the neighboring functional *** study provides proof-of-concept validation of our bioprinted CCA-on-a-chip as a promising drug screening model for CCA treatment and paves the way for potential personalized medicine strategies for CCA patients in the future.

Phosphorus(P)is an essential nutrient for plant growth and *** preferentially absorb P as orthophosphate(Pi),an ion that displays low solubility and that is readily fixed in the soil,making P limita-tion a condition common to many soils and Pi fertilization an inefficient *** cope with Pi limitation,plants have evolved a series of developmental and physiological responses,collectively known as the Pi starvation rescue system(PSR),aimed to improve Pi acquisition and use efficiency(PUE)and protect from Pi-starvation-induced *** research has been carried out during the last 20 years to un-ravel the mechanisms underlying the control of the PSR in *** we review the results of this research effort that have led to the identification and characterization of several core Pi starvation signaling components,including sensors,transcription factors,microRNAs(miRNAs)and miRNA inhibitors,kinases,phosphatases,and components of the proteostasis *** also refer to recent results revealing the existence of intricate signaling interplays between Pi and other nutrients and antagonists,N,Fe,Zn,and As,that have changed the initial single-nutrient-centric view to a more integrated view of nutrient ***,we discuss advances toward improving PUE and future research priorities.

Mentum deformities in chironomids have been commonly used as indicators of metal contamination in freshwater *** of these deformities suggests sublethal effects and can provide early signals of environmental *** anthropogenic metal pollution is known to lead to an increase in deformities in chironomids,natural background deformity incidence information is key to their effective use as biomonitoring *** we explore the incidence of deformities from 5000 Tanytarsus(diptera,Chironomidae)menta in relation to water physicochemical,and sediment metal(Al,As,Cu,Fe,Mn,Pb,Zn)concentration data from numerous sites in the naturally metal-rich Sonora River(NW Mexico)obtained over a two-year *** metal concentrations were found in the upper *** salinity,total suspended solids and conductivity were found in the lower *** As and Cu were occasionally found above published threshold effect levels(TEL).The proportion of deformities(%d)was low(2.1%)and a generalized linear model only explained 25.36%of%d variability among samples;this model included several physicochemical *** only metal significantly related to deformities was *** significant spatial and temporal variability in all metal concentrations and other physicochemical parameters in the basin,we were unable to explain a strong relationship between metal concentration and deformity *** results,based on consistent%d quantification from 5000 samples from a single taxon,suggest that natural variation in metal concentrations,even when statistically significant,is not associated with notable variations in the incidence of deformities.

Pramipexole, a dopamine d3/d2 receptor-preferring agonist, attenuates reserpine-induced fibromyalgia-like model in mice

Fibromyalgia(FM) is a complex pathology described as persistent hyperalgesia including somatic and mood dysfunctions, depression and anxiety. Although the etiology of FM is still unknown, a significant decrease in biogenic amines is a common characteristic in its pathogenesis. Here, our main objective was to investigate the role of dopamine d3/d2 receptor during the reserpine-induced pain in mice. Our results showed that pramipexole(PPX) – a dopaminergic d3/d2 receptor agonist – inhibited mechanical allodynia and thermal sensitivity induced by reserpine. Relevantly, PPX treatment decreased immobility time and increased the number of grooming in the forced swimming test and splash test, respectively. Animals that received PPX remained longer in the open arms than the reserpine group using elevated plusmaze apparatus. The repeated PPX administration, given daily for 4 days, significantly blocked the mechanical and thermal allodynia during FM model, similarly to pregabalin, although it failed to affect the reserpine-induced thermal nociception. Reserpine administration induced significant downregulation of dopamine concentration in the central nervous system, and repeated treatment with PPX restored dopamine levels in the frontal cortex and spinal cord tissues. Moreover, PPX treatment inhibited oxidants production such as dCFH(2′,7′-dichlorodihydrofluorescein) and nitrite, also decreased oxidative damage(carbonyl), and upregulated the activity of superoxide dismutase in the spinal cord. Together, our findings demonstrated the ability of dopamine d3/d2 receptor-preferring agonist in reducing pain and mood dysfunction allied to FM in mice. All experimental protocols were approved by the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina(UFSC) Ethics Committee(approval No. 2572210218) on May 10, 2018.

Effective photocatalytic conversion of formic acid using iron,copper and sulphate doped TiO_(2)

In this paper,the combined addition of copper or iron and sulphate ions onto TiO_(2) prepared by a simple sol-gel method is studied for formic acid photocatalytic conversion.A wide structural and morphological characterization of the different photocatalysts was performed by X-ray diffraction(XRd),N_(2)-physisorption for BET surface area measurements,scanning and transmission electronic microscopies(SEM and TEM),UV-Vis diffuse spectroscopy(dRS)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),in order to correlate the physico-chemical properties of the materials to their photocatalytic efficiencies for formic acid *** have shown important differences among the catalysts depending on the metal *** TiO_(2)/Cu(1%Cu)was the best photocatalyst obtaining about 100% formic acid conversion in only 5 *** appropriate physico-chemical features of this photocatalyst,given by the addition of combined copper and sulphate ions,explain its excellence in photocatalytic reaction.

Analysis of metal profile in soybean after cadmium-induced oxidative damage

Objective:To analyze the effect of cadmium(Cd)on soybean seedlings growth and the relationship with the distribution and concentration of ***:The ions concentrations were determined by *** extraction efficiency and digestion time were ***,oxidative stress parameters were determined and related with metal ***:The accumulated amount of dry matter in roots and leaves was lower in the Cd-treated *** analysis showed that the exposure to Cd affected the accumulated amount of dry matter as well as the content of mineral elements in the analysis *** Cd treated plants,electrical conductivity increased respect to the controls,indicating that ionic permeability became altered.A strong inhibition of the chlorophylls(chl)biosynthesis in the Cd-treated group was also demonstrated by a decrease of chla and chlb *** result was related with the observed significant decrease in the Mg uptake at the roots and leaves ***:The stress caused by Cd exposure,evidenced by significantly high hydrogen peroxide levels in roots and leaves after 24 h and the content of specific macro-microelements is a factor that affects the accumulation of dry matter,electrical conductivity and chlorophylls concentration.

Surgical outcomes and their relation to the number of prior episodes of diverticulitis

Purpose:We aimed to investigate the relationship between the number of prior episodes of diverticulitis and outcomes of sigmoid ***:After institutional review board approval,a retrospective review was undertaken based on records of patients who underwent sigmoid resection with anastomosis for diverticulitis between 4 May 2007 and 29 February *** were divided into two groups:0–3 attacks(group 1)and4 attacks(group 2).Statistical analyses were performed to determine whether the groups differed on demographic,intra-operative and postoperative ***:We identified 247 patients who underwent sigmoid colectomy for diverticulitis(45 open,202 laparoscopic).The two groups did not differ significantly in age,gender,American Society of Anesthesiologists score,past surgical history,body mass index,length of stay,use of a stoma or number of prior hospitalizations for *** 1 had a higher rate of abscesses(30.6 vs 6.8%,Pd fistulas(19.4 vs 0.9%,Pd higher rates of postoperative complications(45.8 vs 23.3%,Pd conversion(17.1 vs 4.4%,P=0.0091).The most common surgical complications in groups 1 and 2 were wound infection(35 vs 10)and ileus(20 vs 8).Based on multivariate regression analysis,4 attacks were independently correlated with a lower complication rate(odds ratio=0.512,95%confidence interval=0.266–0.987,P=0.046).Conclusions:Patients who had4 previous attacks of diverticulitis had fewer postoperative complications.

Gallbladder plication as a rare complication of endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty:A case report

Software Package Evaluation for Lyapunov Exponent and Others Features of Signals Evaluating Condition Monitoring Performance of Nonlinear dynamic Systems

Efficient use of industrial equipment, increase its availability, safety and economic issues spur strong research on maintenance programs based on their operating conditions. Machines normally operate in a linear range, but when malfunctions occur, nonlinear behavior might set in. By studying and comparing five nonlinear features, which listed in decreasing order by their damage detection capability are： LLE （largest Lyapunov exponent）, embedded dimension, Kappa determinism, time delay and cross error values; i.e., LLE performs best. Using somewhat similar ideas from Chaos control, i.e., vary the ＂mass imbalance＂ forcing parameters, we aim to stabilize the Lorenz equation. Quite interestingly, for certain imbalance excitation values, the system is stabilized. The previous even when paradigmatically chaotic parameters for Lorenz system are used （plus our forcing terms）. This quasi-control approach is validated studying signals obtained from the previously mentioned lab test. Finally, it is concluded that analyzing and comparing nonlinear features extracted from baseline vs. malfunction condition （test acquired）, one might increase the efficiency and the performance of machine condition monitoring.
