The goal of achieving carbon neutrality in the next 30-40 years is approaching worldwide consensus and requires coordinated efforts to combat the increasing threat of climate *** main sets of actions have been proposed to address this grand *** is to reduce anthropogenic CO2emissions to the atmosphere,and the other is to increase carbon sinks or negative emissions,i.e.,removing CO2from the *** we advocate eco-engineering approaches for ocean negative carbon emission(ONCE),aiming to enhance carbon sinks in the marine *** international program is being established to promote coordinated efforts in developing ONCE-relevant strategies and methodologies,taking into consideration ecological/biogeochemical processes and mechanisms related to different forms of carbon(inorganic/organic,biotic/abiotic,particulate/dissolved) for *** focus on marine ecosystem-based approaches and pay special attention to mechanisms that require transformative research,including those elucidating interactions between the biological pump(BP),the microbial carbon pump(MCP),and microbially induced carbonate precipitation(MICP).Eutrophic estuaries,hypoxic and anoxic waters,coral reef ecosystems,as well as aquaculture areas are particularly considered in the context of efforts to increase their capacity as carbon *** approaches are thus expected to be beneficial for both carbon sequestration and alleviation of environmental stresses.

BACKGROUND Hyalinizing clear cell carcinoma(HCCC)is an uncommon tumor that originates in the salivary *** neoplasia constitutes less than 1%of minor salivary gland *** SUMMARY A 67-year-old female visited the maxillofacial surgery department owing to a smooth,slightly yellowish protruding mass on the left side of the floor of the mouth,at the level of the molars;the tumor mass had a soft consistency on palpation and did not adhere to deep *** microscopical analysis of the excisional biopsy showed that the lesion was composed of sheets and cords of clear cells separated by thick eosinophilic bands of hyaline *** glandular tissue was absent,periodic acid-Schiff with and without diastase stains,and immunohistochemical reactions were performed to confirm the *** is the second case reported in the literature of HCCC arising in the floor of the *** HCCC is a rare salivary gland tumor that has not been studied *** diagnosis is usually challenging,because clinically,it can be confused with a benign neoplasm.

Assessment of micronucleus frequency in exfoliated buccal epithelial cells among fisher folks exposed to mine tailings in Marinduque Island,Philippines

Objective:To evaluate the potential toxic effects of mine tailings exposure among the fisher folks residing near and far from the Calancan Bay,Marinduque,using the micronucleus assay as an ***:The fisher folks residing near and far from the Calancan Bay were interviewed and the presence and frequency of cells with micronucleus in exfoliated buccal epithelial cells were ***:Results showed that the prevalence of cells with micronucleus was higher among the fisher folks who were directly exposed to the mine tailings as compared with those fisher folks who reside in a community without exposure of mine tailings and history of mining(P<0.05).Conclusions:The presence and the significant difference in the cells with micronuclei observed near the Calancan Bay could possibly indicate a prolonged chemical stress caused by the toxic heavy metals in the mine tailings and the environment.

The CAMINO trial by Görgec et al.(1)assessed the added diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced(CE)magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)using gadoxetic acid and diffusion-weighted imaging for patients with colorectal liver metastases(CRlMs)scheduled for curative treatment(surgical resection,thermal ablation,or both).The study explored how often liver(MRI)changes therapeutic strategy compared to using only a CE computed tomography(CT)*** MRI’s widespread use in staging for CRlMs,guidelines remain vague,leaving decisions to the surgeon’s preference and expertise.

PSA as the driving biomarker to manage low-and intermediate-risk prostate cancer patients in clinical practice

Prostate cancer risk stratification relies on several clinical factors. low-risk patients, characterized by T1–T2a stage, Gleason score (GS) ≤6, and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) l−1, exhibit an excellent prognosis and are suitable for active surveillance (AS). Regular monitoring is essential for these patients, including PSA tests every 3–6 months, annual digital rectal exams (DRE), and prostate biopsies every 6–12 months, followed by less frequent biopsies every 2–5 years. Epstein criteria, which consider GS ≤6, PSA density (PSAD) l−2, limited tumor involvement in cores, and absence of high-risk features, help predict pathologic and biochemical relapse-free survival and guide AS management.

Effects of obesity on breast size,thoracic spine structure and function,upper torso musculoskeletal pain and physical activity in women

Purpose:This study investigated the effects of obesity on breast size,thoracic spine structure and function,upper torso musculoskeletal pain and physical activity participation in women living independently in the ***:A total of 378 women were divided into 3 groups(Not Overweight:body mass index(BMI)=22.5±0.2 kg/m^2(mean±SE);Overweight:BMI=27.4±0.3 kg/m^2;Obese:BMI=35.4±0.3 kg/m^2).Outcome variables of breast volume(ml),thoracic flexion torque(N·m),thoracic kyphosis(degrees),upper torso musculoskeletal pain(score) and time spent in physical activity(min) were calculated and compared among the 3 groups,adjusting for between-group differences in ***:There was a significant main effect of BMI on all outcome *** classified as Obese displayed significantly larger breasts,had greater thoracic flexion torques and reported less time participating in physical activity relative to the participants who were classified as Not Overweight and *** in the Obese group also displayed significantly more thoracic kyphosis and reported significantly more upper torso musculoskeletal pain compared to their counterparts who were classified as Not ***:This study is the first to demonstrate that increased obesity levels were associated with compromised kyphosis and loading of the thoracic spine,as well as increased symptoms of upper torso musculoskeletal pain and reduced time spent in physical activity in women living in the *** recommend further research to determine whether evidence-based interventions designed to reduce the flexion torque generated on the thoracic spine can improve these symptoms of upper torso musculoskeletal pain and the ability of women with obesity to participate in physical activity.
