The study of disaster-specific leadership of female university students has been largely neglected,especially during on-campus emergency eviction and *** on the COVID-19-triggered,on-campus evictions across Canada and the United States,this cross-national partnership examined the out-of-province/state and international female university students’leadership during the entire eviction *** in-depth interviews,this study revealed the female university students’leadership behaviors during three stages:(1)pre-eviction:their self-preparedness formed an emotional foundation to support others;(2)peri-eviction:their attitude and leadership behavior enabled them to facilitate(psychologically and physically)their peers’eviction process;and(3)post-eviction:they continued to support their peers virtually and raised the general public’s awareness regarding the plight of vulnerable and marginalized *** article argues that the female university students’leadership that emerged during the eviction process became complementary to and even augmented the universities’official efforts and *** leadership represents empirical evidence that contributes to the existing literature on gender and leadership by demonstrating female youth as empowered stakeholders rather than as merely passive *** studies could develop detailed stratification of gender and age dimensions in order to portray a more comprehensive picture of the younger generation’s leadership in hazards and disaster research and practice.

The role played by serendipity in the origin of modern psychopharmacology has proven to be controversial in scientific *** its original meaning(Walpole),serendipity refers to discoveries made through a combination of accidents and *** have implemented an operational definition of serendipity based on finding something unexpected or unintended,regardless of the systematic process that led to the accidental observation,and we have established four different patterns of serendipitous *** this paper,we have analyzed the role of serendipity in the discovery and development of classical antidepressant drugs,tricyclic antidepressants and monoamine oxidase inhibitors as well as heterocyclic,“atypical”or“second generation”*** discovery of the antidepressant properties of imipramine and iproniazid,the prototypes of tricyclic antidepressants and monoamine oxidase inhibitors,respectively,fits the mixed type II pattern;initial serendipitous discoveries(imipramine was an antipsychotic and iproniazid was an antituberculosis agent)led secondarily to non-serendipitous *** the other components of these two families of drugs were developed specifically as antidepressants,modifying the chemical structure of the series leaders,thereby allowing all of them to be included in the type IV pattern,characterized by the complete absence of *** the heterocyclic drugs,mianserin(originally developed as an antihistamine)also falls into the type II pattern.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the sternocleidomastoid and the descending portion of the trapezius muscles in terms of electromyographic activity and pressure pain threshold in women with chronic cervical pain after acupuncture ***:Twenty-five women,aged 18-50 years[(31±3)years],with chronic neck and temporomandibular disorder participated in the *** electromyographic activity of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the descending portion of the trapezius muscle were recorded at rest,during shoulder elevation,(left and right)rotation of the neck and crucifix *** voluntary contraction was used to normalize the electromyographic activity *** points used for acupuncture were Jiache(ST 6),Xiaguan(ST 7),Quanliao(SI 18),Tinggong(SI 19),Yifeng(TE-17),Fengchi(GB 20),Renzhong(GV 26),Yangbai(GB-14),and points of the lower and upper limbs:Tai chong(LV 3),Zusanli(ST 36),Sanyinjiao(SP 6),Kunlun(BL 60),He Gu(LI4)and Yanglingquan(GB 34).The treatment course was 10 sessions,30 min long per session,and twice a *** final electromyographic activity and pressure pain threshold data collection were performed 15 d after treatment ***:The normalized electromyographic activity and pressure pain threshold data were tabulated and submitted to statistical analysis using t-test(P<0.05).Significant difference was observed during shoulder elevation for the left trapezius muscle,during neck rotation from the right side to the left,and pressure pain threshold for the trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles,bilaterally,after the acupuncture ***:The acupuncture treatment improved the neck muscles in terms of electromyographic activity and increased the tolerance to chronic pain in women.

重度抑郁症(Major Depressive Disorder,MDD)是当今世界上最常诊断的精神疾病之一,而且女性的患病风险大约是男性的两倍。尽管如此,MDD的病理基础以及它可能带来的大脑解剖区域的形态学改变,仍缺乏实质性的证据。一些临床报告表明MDD患者出现海马萎缩,然而也有研究并没有发现这种海马体积变异。MDD的发病机制,尤其是海马脑区的神经代谢与形态学特征在性别上的差异仍不完全清楚。本研究的主要目的是利用磁共振数据分析女性MDD患者海马区域的形态学测量与神经代谢特征,包括双侧海马的体积大小与代谢物水平的计算,最后得到女性MDD患者与健康对照的组间差异。本研究中,我们招募了27名女性实验被试,其中15名MDD患者和12名健康对照。所有磁共振数据,包括结构像与磁共振波谱,均在上海精神卫生中心由西门子磁共振成像装置扫描获得。我们应用两种不同的磁共振成像分析方法进行形态学分析,选取了基于体素的形态测量学(Voxel Based Morphometry,VBM)工具箱和Free Surfer软件。其中,VBM在MATLAB环境中运行,它基于统计参数图(Statistical Parametric Mapping,SPM)原理;Free Surfer运行在Ubuntu系统中。本研究应用以上软件进行海马形态学测量,获得双侧海马的体积大小,包括绝对体积,灰质体积和白质体积。进一步的统计分析在SPM和Statistical Package for the Social Science(SPSS)软件包中完成。由于VBM无法直接提供感兴趣区域的体积大小,本研究应用WFU Pick Atlas和Region Extraction Tool(REX)两个软件来获取双侧海马的体积量化结果。WFU Pick Atlas提供感兴趣脑区的mask,而REX用于提取和量化感兴趣脑区的体积。基于VBM和Free Surfer的形态学分析流程如图1所示。本研究应用LCModel后处理软件量化神经代谢物的浓度,并应用SPSS软件进行海马形态学与代谢学的相关性分析,主要的神经代谢物为胆碱(Choline,Cho),N-乙酰天门冬氨酸混合物(Nacetylaspartate and N-Acetylaspartylglutamate)和肌酸(Creatine,Cr)。图1.基于VBM和Free Surfer的形态学分析流程Figure *** view of the setup applied for the morphological analysis using both Voxel Based Morphometry(VBM)and Free Surfer本研究中,形态学测量结果表明,女性MDD患者与健康对照之间并没有显著的海马体积差异(如图2所示)。另一方面,双模态磁共振成像研究发现,女性MDD患者右侧海马的绝对体积与胆碱浓度成显著正相关关系(R=0.576,p=0.05)。图2.女性重度抑郁症患者与健康对照的形态学组间比较结果,两组之间未表现出海马体积的差异,其中(A)和(B)中的红色箭头分别指向左侧海马与右侧海马。Figure *** results of two sample t-test between patients and healthy *** arrows shows an approximated position of the Left *** position of the right *** colored spots were found on those places meaning that no significant difference between groups is present.本研究中女性MDD患者并没有表现出海马的形态学改变,而一些研究发现MDD患者的海马体积发生了变化,结果的差异性可能归因于多种因素,如疾病的发病时间,抑郁症的复发和周期性,以及性别等。神经代谢与形态学特征的相关性分析发现,女性MDD患者右侧海马的胆碱浓度与绝对体积之间存在正相关,提出了神经元退化或细胞膜翻转与海马的体积变化之间存在着某种联系。胆碱被认为是活跃的神经元退化活动和细胞膜翻转的标志物。相关性结果可以解释为,女性MDD患者的海马体积增加,对应于海马细胞膜的退化与分离活动增加。据我们所知,这是第一个发现女性MDD患者存在海马神经代谢与形态学测量的相关性,详细的解剖和代谢的变化值得进一步调查。

The Rheic Ocean was one of the most important oceans of the Paleozoic Era. It lay between Laurentia and Gondwana from the Early Ordovician and closed to produce the vast Ouachita- Alleghanian-Variscan orogen during the assembly of Pangea. Rifting began in the Cambrian as a continua- tion of Neoproterozoic orogenic activity and the ocean opened in the Early Ordovician with the separation of several Neoproterozoic arc terranes from the continental margin of northern Gondwana along the line of a former suture. The rapid rate of ocean opening suggests it was driven by slab pull in the outboard Iapetus Ocean. The ocean reached its greatest width with the closure of Iapetus and the accretion of the peri- Gondwanan arc terranes to Laurentia in the Silurian. Ocean closure began in the Devonian and continued through the Mississippian as Gondwana sutured to Laurussia to form Pangea. The ocean consequently plays a dominant role in the Appalachian-Ouachita orogeny of North America, in the basement geology of southern Europe, and in the Paleozoic sedimentary, structural and tectonothermal record from Middle America to the Middle East. Its closure brought the Paleozoic Era to an end.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the electromyographic (EMG) activity of the masseter and temporalis muscles and the skeletal and dental behavior of children having slow maxillary expansion with a quadhelix appliance. The study sample consisted of 30 children (mean age = 7 years 4 months;17 girls/13 boys) diagnosed with a unilateral posterior crossbite. Lateral cephalometric tracing and EMG analyses were carried out before orthodontic treatment (T1) and 1 month after removal of the appliance (T2). The EMG activity of the masseter and temporalis muscles was analyzed in two clinical situations: at muscular rest and during habitual chewing. Differences in the measurements were evaluated by using paired t tests. Maxillary expansion with the quadhelix appliance did not promote significant anteroposterior and vertical skeletal alterations. Among the cephalometric variables related to dental pattern, only 1-ANS-PNS values presented a significant increase at T2. At muscular rest, EMG analysis indicated a significant increase in the activity of the temporalis muscle. During habitual chewing, EMG activity decreased significantly for both evaluated muscles after removal of the quadhelix appliance. These alterations suggest an adaptation and reprogramming of the musculature to the new occlusal condition.

AIM:To determine whether topical lidocaine benefits esophagogastroduoduenoscopy(EGD) by decreasing propofol dose necessary for sedation or procedurerelated ***:The study was designed as a prospective,single centre,double blind,randomised clinical trial and was conducted in 2012 between January and May(NCT01489891).Consecutive patients undergoing EGD were randomly assigned to receive supplemental topical lidocaine(L;50 mg in an excipient solution which was applied as a spray to the oropharynx) or placebo(P;taste excipients solution without active substance,similarly delivered) prior to the standard propofol sedation *** propofol was administered as a bolus intravenous(iv) dose,with patients in the L and P groups receiving initial doses based on the patient’s American Society of Anaesthesiologists(ASA) classification(ASAⅠ-Ⅱ:0.50-0.60 mg/kg;ASA Ⅲ-Ⅳ:0.25-0.35 mg/kg),followed by 10-20 mg iv dose every 30-60 s at the anaesthetist’s *** signs,anthropometric measurements,amount of propofol administered,sedation level reached,examination time,and the subjective assessments of the endoscopist’s and anaesthetist’s satisfaction(based upon a four point Likert scale) were *** statistical tests were performed by the Stata statistical software suite(Release 11,2009;StataCorp,LP,College Station,TX,United States).RESULTS:No significant differences were found between the groups treated with lidocaine or placebo in terms of total propofol dose(310.7 ± 139.2 mg/kg per minute vs 280.1 ± 87.7 mg/kg per minute,P = 0.15) or intraprocedural propofol dose(135.3 ± 151.7 mg/kg per minute vs 122.7 ± 96.5 mg/kg per minute,P = 0.58).Only when the L and P groups were analysed with the particular subgroups of female,< 65-year-old,and lower anaesthetic risk level(ASA Ⅰ-Ⅱ) was a statistically significant difference found(L:336.5 ± 141.2 mg/kg per minute vs P:284.6 ± 91.2 mg/kg per minute,P = 0.03) for greater total propofol requirements).The total i
