Technological progress and the rapid increase in geochemical data often create bottlenecks in many studies,because current methods are designed using limited number of data and cannot handle large *** geoscience,tectonic discrimination illustrates this issue,using geochemical analyses to define tectonic settings when most of the geological record is missing,which is the case for most of the older portion of the Earth’s *** are the primary target for tectonic discrimination because they are volcanic rocks found within all tectonic settings,and their chemical compositions can be an effective way to understand tectonics-related mantle ***,the classical geochemical discriminant methods have limitations as they are based on a limited number of 2 or 3-dimensional diagrams and need successive and subjective steps that often offers non-unique ***,weathering,erosion,and orogenic processes can modify the chemical composition of basalts and eliminate or obscure other complementary geotectonic *** address those limitations,supervised machine learning techniques(a part of artificial intelligence)are being utilized more often as a tool to analyze multidimensional datasets and statistically process data to tackle big data *** contribution starts by reviewing the current state of tectonic discrimination methods using supervised machine *** learning,especially Convolutional neural network(Cnn)is the most accurate ***,it requires a large dataset and considerable processing time,and the gain of accuracy can be at the expense of ***,this study designed guidelines for data pre-processing,tectonic setting classification and objectively evaluating the model *** also identify research gaps and propose potential directions for the application of supervised machine learning to tectonic discrimination research,aimed at closing the divide between earth scientists and data scie

In the genus Quercus, regeneration by seed is reduced or absent in many species. The naturally protected area of the Sierra Fria, in Aguascalientes, Mexico contains forests that are fragmented and have been degraded due to human activities. The oak populations in this region demonstrate a very restricted sexual regeneration, with five of the most abundant species of this genus: Quercuseduardii, Q. grisea, Q. potosina, Q. resinosa and Q. sideroxyla presenting low seedling recruitment. In this study we evaluated seed viability and the effect of seed size on the germination, growth and survival of the trees, with the aim of recommending restoration and conservation program management actions for these oak species. In 2005 and 2006, 5000 acorns of each species were collected and viability, germination and growth experiments were performed in the laboratory and greenhouse. Background:Capacitation is a set of physiological changes sperms undergo to acquire fertilizing *** vivo,this process is directly associated with high calcium levels in sperm ***,the vitamin D hypercalcemic metabolite,is related to human sperm motility,capacitation,and acrosome *** work aimed to study the effect of calcitriol on bull sperm quality parameters and ***:One million freezethawed spermatozoa were obtained from different bulls and treated with 20 nM of calcitriol for 30 *** cells(negative control)and treated ones with calcitriol or heparin(100μg/mL,positive capacitation control)were evaluated for motility,viability,and functional ***(70μM,30 min)treatment was included as a reactive oxygen species(ROS)positive sperm ***:The results elucidated that sperm exposed to 20 nM calcitriol showed higher viability,vigor,and capacitation than their positive and negative *** percentage of sperm with intact plasma and acrosome membranes,mitochondrial membrane potential(ΔΨm),and phosphatidylserine externalization was similar in all the conditions evaluated,while ROS production was higher with heparin and menadione-treated groups than the calcitriol group or negative ***:Our results indicate that calcitriol induces the capacitation of thawed bull spermatozoa and maintains acceptable values of progressive motility,viability,and vigor without altering key biological parameters such as redox status,ΔΨm,and cell death.

The construction industry is recognised to pose serious environmental threats due to its anthropogenic *** confront this challenge,green building has been famed as an auspicious strategy to alleviate energy-related carbon emissions alongside climate change ***,it has birthed diverse empirical studies and holistic reviews by the research ***,these previous studies have been carried out from a global and continental viewpoint regardless of the green building development specifically in emerging *** present study seeks to fill the sparse research upshots on the synthesis of green building research at the country level with core focus on South *** this light,the current study provides a scoping overview of the intellectual exploration on green building research in the South African *** study’s findings highlight the varying growth regarding the subject matter,the drivers,drawbacks,and socio-economic issues confronting in developing green building projects in the *** optimize the advancement of green building in the region,this study recommends the implementation of financing schemes,utilization of advanced digital technologies,and promotion of green and sustainable building curricula across the institutions as well as post-occupancy-related studies within the green building spectrum towards a safe and salutogenic built-environment in the country.

In Italy,when building a new school,there are no regulatory or cultural references that consider recent regulations on energy savings and emissions reduction,key environmental considerations that have received increasing notice in society and new teaching methods needs to address these environmental concerns,especially as related to the built *** main goal of this paper is to outline qualitative and quantitative guidelines for building low-carbon kindergartens in *** guidelines will define a new building type for schools while also evaluating energy and environmental performance to create a structured and interdisciplinary support tool that can be used by designers during the preliminary phase of the design *** method starts from the detailed analysis of representative sustainable buildings to define new typological models,then several energy and environmental analyses follow to evaluate the new building type performance,and finally the guidelines are detailed following the environmental and technological system.

Lactose obtained from cheese whey is a low value commodity despite its great potential as raw material for the production of bioactive *** them,prebiotics stand out as valuable ingredients to be added to food matrices to build up functional foods,which currently represent the most active sector within the food *** foods market has been growing steadily in the recent decades along with the increasing awareness of the World population about healthy nutrition,and this is having a strong impact on lactose-derived *** of them are produced by enzyme biocatalysis because of molecular precision and environmental sustainability *** current status and outlook of the production of lactose-derived bioactive compounds is presented with special emphasis on downstream operations which are critical because of the rather modest lactose conversion and product yields that are *** though some of these products have already an established market,there are still several challenges referring to the need of developing better catalysts and more cost-effective downstream operations for delivering high quality products at affordable *** technological push is expected to broaden the spectrum of lactose-derived bioactive compounds to be produced at industrial scale in the near future.

Maternal cigarette smoking during pregnancy and reproductive health in children： a review of epidemiological studies

Maternal cigarette smoking may affect the intrauterine hormonal environment during pregnancy and this early fetal exposure may have detrimental effects on the future trajectory of reproductive health. In this review, we discuss the epidemiological literature on the association between prenatal exposure to maternal cigarette smoking and several aspects of reproductive health. The literature points towards an increased risk of the urogenital malformation cryptorchidism, but a potential protective effect on the risk of hypospadias in sons following prenatal cigarette smoking exposure. Studies on sexual maturation find a tendency towards accelerated pubertal development in exposed boys and girls. In adult life, prenatally exposed men have impaired semen quality compared with unexposed individuals, but an influence on fecundability, that is, the biological ability to reproduce, is less evident. We found no evidence to support an association between prenatal cigarette smoking exposure and testicular cancer. Among adult daughters, research is sparse and inconsistent, but exposure to cigarette smoking in utero may decrease fecundability. In conclusion, prenatal exposure to cigarette smoking may cause some long-term adverse effects on the reproductive health.

The recent emergence ofseveralplant diseases caused by psyllid-borne bacterial pathogens worldwide （Candidatus Liberibaeter spp.） has created renewed interest on the interaction between psyllids and bacteria. In spite of these efforts to understand psyllid association with bacteria, many aspects of their interactions remain poorly understood. As more organisms are studied, subtleties on the molecular interactions as well as on the effects of the bacteria on the psyllid host are being uncovered. Additionally, psyllid-borne bacterial phytopathogens can also affect the host plant, which in turn can impact psyllid physiology and behavior. Here, we review the current literature on different aspects of the influence of bacteria on multitrophic interactions among plants, psyllids, and pathogens. We then highlight gaps that need to be addressed to advance this field, which can have significant implications for controlling these newly emergent and other plant diseases.

With the continued development of tracking technology and increasing interest in animal movement,our understanding of migration behavior has become more ***,there are still many species that have not been well studied,particularly sea ***,we present the first year-round Global Positioning System(GPS)tracking data of the Black-tailed Gull(Larus crassirostris)at the population *** used solar-powered GPS-Global System for Mobile communication(GSM)loggers to successfully track 30 individuals breeding at Xingrentuo Islet,Liaoning Province,China,for 1-3 *** for one individual who roamed in the far north of the Yellow Sea during non-breeding period,all others did a directed southward *** routes and wintering sites differed among migrating gulls and between years for the birds tracked for two or more ***,during wintering,the migrating gulls were more likely to travel over a large body of water and shift sites,and some trajectories were quite complex,which was probably closely related to what we observed in the field about their boat-chasing *** to wintering movements,the post-breeding movements ranged over a smaller ***,almost all of them had a long post-breeding period near the breeding islet(≥120days,ng islet),and 80%of the gulls who were tracked more than one year had at least one faithful post-breeding *** to the post-breeding period,only approximately half of the migrating gulls had a pre-breeding period that was shorter(3-20 days)and closer to the breeding islet(≤80 km).Migration distance varied among migrating gulls(range 209-2405 km)and the gulls moved least distance during postbreeding ***,we found that the southward movement of the migrating gulls occurred when the temperature near the breeding islet dropped;specifically,the gulls directly migrated southward away from the post-breeding *** results suggest that the B
