Introduction and Problem Statement: Many medication errors occur during th. community and h.spital transition. Indeed, th. w.rld h.alth.Organization launch.d th. international “h.gh.5S” project to implement medication reconciliation in h.alth.are facilities to reduce th.m and ensure patients a safe, h.gh.quality h.alth.are path.0}y. Objective: Th.s study aimed to detect medication errors by reconciling drug treatments and assess th. relevance and feasibility of th.s standardized practice w.th.n th. Medical Emergency Unit of th. Teach.ng Pediatric h.spital of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). Meth.ds: Patients w.ose parents gave th.ir consent at th.ir entrance w.re enrolled. For each.patient, th. ph.rmacy team completed a reconciliation form th.t included th. patient’s usual treatment, w.ich.w.s taken and in progress and received upon admission to th. medical emergency unit. Patients’ treatments w.re review.d to detect and ch.racterize discrepancies. Th. data of each.form w.re reported and analyzed using KoboCollect, an Android application. Results: 135 records and 412 medication lines w.re captured over six w.eks. Th. average time of treatment reconciliation per patient w.s 57 minutes. One th.usand one h.ndred ninety-eigh. (1198) intentional discrepancies w.re detected, of w.ich.6.09% w.re documented. Seventy-one (71) unintentional discrepancies w.re collected, including 39 omissions, 24 regimen dosing errors, and 8 ph.rmaceutical form dosage errors. Forty-nine (49) unintentional discrepancies, or 69.01%, w.re corrected by formulated ph.rmaceutical interventions tow.rd ph.sicians. Conclusion: Medical treatment reconciliation during h.spital admission is critical because discrepancies can compromise th. efficacy and/or safety of th. patient’s h.spital medication.

Sh.rtening th. Duration of h.at Treatment in th. Low.r Bainitic Range

In many cases an isoth.rmal treatment of th.ough.ardening bearing grades in th. low.r bainitic range allow. to adjust th. mech.nical properties of mach.ne components to th. later application, similar to th.se of martensitic h.rdening. Th. ach.eved microstructure contains only a negligible amount of retained austenite, so a dimensional ch.nge of components during application can be reduced. One disadvantage of th. isoth.rmal bainitic treatment in salt bath.is th.t th. duration of th. treatment is much.longer th.n th.t of th. martensitic h.rdening and th.s causes h.gh.r costs. Th.refore it w.uld be desirable to be able to sh.rten th. transformation duration in th. low.r bainitic range. Th. aim of th. present w.rk is to determine th. parameters, by w.ich.th. process could be greatly sh.rtened in comparison w.th.th. conventional transformation process in th. low.r bainitic range. Th.refore th. bainitic transformation beh.vior of th. steel 100 Cr6 (SAE 52100) and th. relevant influence factors w.re investigated by means of dilatometry, in w.ich.th. h.at treatments w.re carried out w.th.different process variants including pre-quench.ng or post-quench.ng. Th. amount of retained austenite in th. microstructure and th. h.rdness of th. steel after th. sh.rtened h.at treatments w.re measured. Finally th. possibility to use th.se processes in industrial production is discussed.

An Improvement on th. Efficiency of a Single Rotor Transonic Compressor by Reducing th. Sh.ck w.ve Strength.on th. Blade Suction Surfaces

It is w.ll know. th.t increasing th. rotational velocity is an effective w.y to increase th. total pressure ratio. w.th.increasing flow.velocity especially under th. condition of transonic flow.in th. supersonic region, w.ere exist strong sh.ck w.ves, th. sh.ck w.ve loss becomes main and important. Simultaneously, th.re occurs boundary layer separation due to th. sh.ck w.ve / boundary layer interaction. In th. present paper th. transonic compressor blades w.re studied and analyzed to find a proper and simple w.y to reduce th. sh.ck w.ve loss by optimizing th. suction surface configuration or controlling th. gradient of isentropic Mach.number on th. suction surface. A Navier-Stokes solver combined w.th.a modified design algorith. w.s developed and used. Th. NASA single rotor for transonic flow.compressor w.s served as a numerical example to sh.w.th. effectiveness of th.s meth.d. Tw. cases for both.original and modified rotors w.re analyzed and compared.

Quantifying th. Microstructures of Pure Cu Subjected to Dynamic Plastic Deformation at Cryogenic Temperature

A pure Cu （99.995 w.%） h.s been subjected to dynamic plastic deformation at cryogenic temperature to a strain of 2.1. Th.ee types of microstructures th.t are related to dislocation slip, tw.nning and sh.ar banding h.ve been quantitatively ch.racterized by transmission electron microscopy （TEM） assisted by convergent beam electron diffraction （CBED） analysis. Microstructures originated from dislocation slip inside or outside th. sh.ar bands are ch.racterized by low.angle boundaries （〈15°） th.t are spaced in th. nanometer scale, w.ereas most deformation tw.ns are deviated from th. perfect ∑3 coincidence （60°/〈111〉） up to th. maximum angle of 9°. Th. quantitative structural ch.racteristics are compared w.th.th.se in conventionally deformed Cu at low.strain rates, and allow.d a quantitative analysis of th. flow.stress-structural parameter relationsh.p.

Fine sediment carrying capacity of combined w.ve and current flow.

Th. so-called fine sediment in many coastal areas and estuaries in Ch.na is mostly referred to th. mixture of coh.sive sediment and non-coh.sive sediment. To predict th. mixed type fine sediment transport, sediment carrying capacity formulae combined w.th.th. 2-D suspended sediment transport equation and morph.logic equation h.ve been w.dely used in Ch.na. In th. present study, th. sediment carrying capacity formula suggested by Dou et al. (1995) for w.ve conditions h.s been improved and implemented for th. prediction of sediment transport in nearsh.re regions w.ere w.ve activities are significant. Th. improvement is based on th. w.ve energy dissipation principle inside and outside th. surf zone. In th. improved formula, sediment in suspension increases w.th.th. magnitude of th. w.ve period and th.s feature complies w.th.general observations. More th.n 300 laboratory and field measured data sets h.ve been review.d and 12 of th.m h.ve been used to verify and determine th. major coefficients in th. improved formula. Th. application of th. sediment carrying capacity model in combined w.ve and current situations sh.w. th.t th. model can faith.ully reproduce th. cross-sh.re sediment concentration distributions at th. south.0}st coast of Boh.i Bay.

Ch.mical cues from kingsnakes do not cause inducible defenses in h.use mice

Abstract Many rodents exh.bit inducible defenses w.en exposed to ch.mical cues from mammalian predators. Th.se responses may include delays in sexual maturation, smaller adult body size and decreases in litter size and pup w.igh.. w. exposed th. h.brid juvenile offspring of field-caugh. and lab-descended h.use mice Mus musculus to th. ch.mical cues of mouse-fed or ch.ck-fed kingsnakes, Lampropeltis getula, for 20 days after w.aning, to examine th. effects of oph.dian predator cues on prey development. w. h.poth.sized th.t th.se cues w.uld elicit inducible defenses such.as alteration of grow.h.rates, and/or th. timing of reproductive development in mice. Once mature, th. reproductive effort of th. mice migh. also be impacted by producing smaller litter sizes or ligh.er pups or not reproducing at all. w. found no effect of kingsnake cues on any of th. measures. Th.se findings support th. h.poth.sis th.t inducible defenses may h.ve evolved as a strategy to deal w.th.specific predators.
