AIM To evaluate the sex-specific effects of a hyd.oalcoholic extract from Eugenia punicifolia(HEEP) leaves on gastric ulcer *** In this rat stud. involving males, intact(cycling) females, and.ovariectomized.females, gastric ulcers were ind.ced.using acetic acid. A vehicle, lansoprazole, or HEEP was ad.inistered.for 14 d.after ulcer ind.ction. Bod. weight was monitored.throughout the treatment period. At the end.of treatment, the rats were euthanized.and.the following in vivo and.in vitro investigations were performed. macroscopic examination of the lesion area and.organ weights, biochemical analysis, zymography, and.evaluation of protein expression levels. Ad.itionally, the concentration-d.pend.nt effect of HEEP was evaluated.in terms of subacute toxicity and.*** Compared.to the vehicle, HEEP d.monstrated.a great healing capacity by substantially red.cing the ulcerative lesion area in males(52.44%), intact females(85.22%), and.ovariectomized.females(65.47%), confirming that HEEP accelerates the healing of acetic acid.nd.ced.gastric lesions and.suggesting that this effect is mod.lated.by female sex hormones. The antiulcer effect of HEEP was med.ated.by prostagland.n E2 only in male rats. Overall, the beneficial effect of HEEP was the highest in intact females. Notably, HEEP promoted.the expression of vascular end.thelial growth factor(intact vs ovariectomized.females) and.d.creased.the expression of Caspase-8 and.Bcl-2(intact female vs male or ovariectomized.female). AIM:To stud. pentoxifylline effects in liver and.ad.pose tissue inflammation in obese mice ind.ced.by high-fat d.et(HFd..METHOd.: Male swiss mice(6-wk old. were fed.a highfat d.et(HFd. 60% kcal from fat) or AIN-93(control d.et; 15% kcal from fat) for 12 wk and.received.pentoxifylline intraperitoneally(100 mg/kg per d.y) for the last 14 d. Glucose homeostasis was evaluated.by measurements of basal glucose blood.levels and.insulin tolerance test two d.ys before the end.of the protocol. Final bod. weight was assessed. Epid.d.mal ad.pose tissue was collected.and.weighted.for ad.posity evaluation. Liver and.ad.pose tissue biopsies were homogenized.in solubilization buffer and.cytokines were measured.in supernatant by enzyme immunoassay or multiplex kit, respectively. Hepatic histopathologic analyses were performed.in sections of paraformald.hyd.-fixed. paraffin-embed.ed.liver specimens stained.with hematoxylin-eosin by an ind.pend.nt pathologist. 目的:研究短期手法针刺足三里治疗对脂多糖诱导的实验性大鼠急性肺损伤的预防作用。方法:根据是否进行脂多糖刺激及采用的针刺方法的不同,将32只 Wistar 大鼠随机分为4组,即正常对照组、模型组、假针刺组和针刺组,每组8只。假针刺组和针刺组大鼠行手法针刺治疗,连续治疗4 d.每次 5 min。第4天针刺后采用脂多糖刺激诱导大鼠急性肺损伤。第5天,收集外周血、支气管肺泡灌洗液和骨髓等进行白细胞计数。结果:血细胞计数和支气管肺泡灌洗液细胞计数提示,针刺可减轻急性肺损伤大鼠的炎性反应,假针刺也有轻微的效果。正常对照组和模型组大鼠无明显的炎性反应。与正常对照组比较,模型组肺泡灌洗液中细胞计数增加;与假针刺组比较,针刺组肺泡灌选液中细胞计数减少,但差异没有统计学意义。结论:预防性手法针刺足三里可减轻脂多糖诱导的大鼠急性肺损伤,但其相关免疫机制仍待进一步的研究。

AIM: To evaluate immunoexpression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in primary gastric carcinomas and.respective lymph nod. metastases. METHOd.: Immunohistochemistry to analyze COX-2 expression was performed.on tissue microarray slices obtained.from 36 specimens of gastrectomy and.satellite lymph nod.s from patients with gastric carcinoma. RESULTS: Immunostaining was seen in most cases, and.COX-2 expression was higher in lymph nod. me-tastases than in correspond.ng primary gastric tumors of intestinal, d.ffuse and.mixed.carcinomas, with a statistically signif icant d.fference in the d.ffuse histotype (P = 0.0108). CONCLUSION: COX-2 immunoexpression occurs frequently in primary gastric carcinomas, but higher expression of this enzyme is observed.in lymph nod. metastases of the d.ffuse histotype.
