Wireless Sensor Networks（WSNs） have many applications, such as climate monitoring systems, fire detection, smart homes, and smart cities. It is expected that WSNs will be integrated into the Internet of Things（IoT）and participate in various tasks. WSNs play an important role monitoring and reporting environment information and collecting surrounding context. In this paper we consider a WSN deployed for an application such as environment monitoring, and a mobile sink which acts as the gateway between the Internet and the WSN. Data gathering is a challenging problem in WSNs and in the IoT because the information has to be available quickly and effectively without delays and redundancies. In this paper we propose several distributed algorithms for composite event detection and reporting to a mobile sink. Once data is collected by the sink, it can be shared using the IoT infrastructure. We analyze the performance of our algorithms using WSNet simulator, which is specially designed for event-based WSNs. We measure various metrics such as average residual energy, percentage of composite events processed successfully at the sink, and the average number of hops to reach the sink.

Isoprenoids are a hugely diverse family of compounds derived from the C5 precursors isopentenyl diphosphate （IPP） and dimethylallyl diphosphate （DMAPP）. Although all free-living organisms synthesize isoprenoids, they are particularly abun- dant and diverse in plants, with tens of thousands structures known to date. The highest variety of plant isoprenoids are specialized （secondary） metabolites that participate in the interaction of plants with their environment. These include pigments, volatiles, and defense compounds, some of which have applications in industry and agriculture.

AIM To understand the influence of frailty on postoperative outcomes for laparoscopic and open colectomy. METHODS Data were obtained from the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program(2005-2012) for patients undergoing colon resection [open colectomy(OC) and laparoscopic colectomy(LC)]. Patients were classified as non-frail(0 points), low frailty(1 point), moderate frailty(2 points), and severe frailty(≥ 3) using the Modified Frailty Index. 30-d mortality and complications were used as the primary end point and analyzed for the overall population. Complications were grouped into major and minor. Subset analysis was performed for patients undergoing colectomy(total colectomy, partial colectomy and sigmoid colectomy) and separately for patients undergoing rectal surgery(abdominoperineal resection, low anterior resection, and proctocolectomy). We analyzed the data using SAS Platform JMP Pro version 10.0.0(SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, United States). RESULTS A total of 94811 patients were identified; the majority underwent OC(58.7%), were white(76.9%), andnon-frail(44.8%). The median age was 61.3 years. Prolonged length of stay(LOS) occurred in 4.7%, and 30-d mortality was 2.28%. Patients undergoing OC were older(61.89 ± 15.31 vs 60.55 ± 14.93) and had a higher ASA score(48.3% ASA3 vs 57.7% ASA2 in the LC group)(P < 0.0001). Most patients were non-frail(42.5% OC vs 48% LC, P < 0.0001). Complications, prolonged LOS, and mortality were significantly more common in patients undergoing OC(P < 0.0001). OC had a higher risk of death and complications compared to LC for all frailty scores(non-frail: OR = 4.7, and OR = 4.67; mildly frail: OR = 2.51, and OR = 2.47; moderately frail: OR = 2.94, and OR = 2.02, severely frail: OR = 2.37, and OR = 2.34, P < 0.05) and an increase in absolute mortality with increasing frailty(non-frail 0.68% OC, mildly frail 1.39%, moderately frail 3.44%, and severely frail 5.83%, P < 0.0001). CONCLUSION LC is associated with improved outcomes. A

Objective:To determine the preventive effects of curcumin on peroxidative damage under two bed rest ***:20 healthy male(10 with curcumin and 10 without curcumin ) volunteers were *** were studied before,during,and just on bed rest conditions at -6°head-down-tilt(HDT) bed rest and bed rest position(BD) for 10 *** measured the salivary and serum oxidative markers such as Malonaldehyde,8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine, vitamin C and E just before HDT & *** HDT & BD experiment,and in course time of recovery with curcumin and without curcumin ***:The values of serum and salivary vitamin C & E showed statistically significant decrease in both bed rest conditions as compared to those of the conditions before and during the recovery ***,these levels were not significantly lowered in curcumin groups in contrast to the groups without curcumin (P>0.05).MDA and 8-OHdG levels showed significant increase in simulating microgravity and zero gravity conditions as compared to those before and in the recovery ***,these levels were lower in curcumin groups in contrast to the groups without curcumin(P<0.05).Serum and salivary correlation analysis revealed a strong and highly significant correlation for MDA. vitamin C & E and 8 dihydro-2 deoxyguanosine(8-OHdG) in the conditions before,during and in the recovery periods in both bed rest *** saliva collection is easy and noninvasive, measurements of salivary marker levels may prove to be useful in the space research. Conclusions:Curcumin prevents peroxidative damage in both bed rest *** study is required on antioxidation actions of curcumin in space microgravity conditions.

Engineering complex nanocomposites that specifically target the hepatitis B virus （HBV） and overcome the limitations of current therapies such as limited efficacy and serious side effects is very challenging. Here, for the first time, the antiviral effect of engineered plasmonic gold and layered double hydroxide self-assemblies （AuNPs/LDHs） is demonstrated, using HBV as a model virus and hepatoma-derived HepG2.2.215 ceils for viral replication, assembly, and secretion of infectious virions and subviral particles. AuNPs/LDHs were obtained by a simple, cost-effective procedure in which small AuNPs （-3.5 nm） were directly obtained and organized on the surface of larger LDH nanoparticles （-150 nm） by exploiting the capability of MgLDH, ZnLDH, and MgFeLDH to manifest their ＂structural memory＂ in the aqueous solution of Au（O2CCH3）3. The self-assembly approach of AuNPs and LDHs was assessed by transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）, powder X-ray diffraction （PXRD）, and UV-Vis analysis （UV-Vis）. All AuNPs/LDHs tested reduced the amount of viral and subviral particles released from treated cells by up to 80% and exhibited good cytocompatibility. AuNPs/MgFeLDH showed the highest antiviral HBV response with more than 90% inhibition of HBV secretion for the whole concentration range. Preliminary studies on the mechanism of HBV inhibition reveals that in the presence of AuNPs/LDHs, HBV particles are sequestered within the treated cells. The antiviral and low cytotoxic plasmonic properties of these Au/LDH nanocomposites indicate that they hold significant potential to be tailored as novel efficient therapeutics for the treatment of hepatitis B.

Study on Anisotropy and Punching Yield Strength of Knitted Fabrics

In terms of the structural characteristics, knitted fabrics are described as plane orthotropic body with two symmetric axes, and the stress in different direction is approximately linear with strain before the yield *** punching yield strength can be predicted theoretically by developing a mathematical equation from anisotropic effect of knitted fabrics. The experimental results demonstrate the applicability of theoretical formula. Analyses also reveal that the factors influencing three-dimensional deforming performance can be divided into two categories: fiber-yarn-fabric structural features and deforming condition.
