With the increase in antimicrobial resistance,it has become necessary to explore alternative approaches for combating and preventing ***-cinnamaldehyde(CNm)and Benzyl4-amino(B4Am)are bioactive compounds derived from chalcones but with restricted solubility in aqueous *** can enhance the solubility of compounds and can be a promising alternative in the development of novel antimicrobials,with reduced side effects and prolonged *** objective of this study was to evaluate the stability of oil-in-water nanoemulsions loaded with two distinct types of chalcones at two different dosages,to propose a stable formulation with antimicrobial *** showed that nanoemulsions presented high encapsulation efficiency,low polydispersity index(PDI)and particle size below 200 nm,indicating that emulsification was a suitable method for nanoemulsion *** with higher dosages exhibited significant antimicrobial effects when compared to free chalcones and positive ***,B4Am nanoemulsions at higher dosages showed expressive activity against Salmonella minnesota,with a 420%greater inhibitory response compared to the free form and showing equivalence to the positive *** nanoemulsions showed excellent inhibitory activity at the highest dosage,equivalent to the positive control against *** and Staphylococcus *** greater number of conjugated bonds in CNm increased the antimicrobial activity in comparison with B4Am,and the formation of nanometric domains enhanced the bioavailability,being a promising alternative for antimicrobial applications.

To compare patterns of recurrence and disease-free survival (DFS) of node-po sitive and node-negative patients with advanced vulval squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Fifty-five patients with FIGO stage III/IVA vulval SCC who had surgery a t the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer from 1989 to 1999 were include d. Patients were grouped as follows: Group A, pT3 N0; Group B, pT3 N1; Group C, pT4 N2. Treatment included surgery ±.postoperative radiotherapy. multivariate C ox models were calculated to identify independent prognostic factors. After a me dian follow-up of 96 months, 25 patients (45.5%) experienced recurrence at the vulva (n = 2), pelvis (n = 8), or distant sites (n = 15)-. Recurrence in the p elvis and at distant sites was more likely for patients in groups B and C (P 0.0 03). At 5 years the probability of DFS was 66.6%, 35.3%, and 39.8%for patient s in groups A, B, and C, respectively (P 0.085)-. Patients with negative nodes (n = 15), one microscopic positive node (n = 11), and two or more positive nodes (n = 29) had a probability of DFS of 66.6%, 67.3%, and 26.1%at 5 years, resp ectively (P 0.005). Patients with ≥2 positive groin nodes are at risk for dista nt failure. The DFS of patients with negative groin nodes and those with only on e microscopic positive node is very similar. The prognosis of patients with ≥2 positive unilateral or bilateral groin nodes is similar. The current FIGO stagin g system inaccurately reflects prognosis for patients with advanced vulval cance r. Clinical trials are warranted to investigate the benefit of systemic treatmen t.

Background:Hemodialysis(HD) per se is a risk factor for *** the growing body of evidence on blood-flow restriction(BFR) exercise in HD patients,identification of possible risk factors related to the prothrombotic agent D-dimer is required for the safety and feasibility of this training *** aim of the present study was to identify risk factors associated with higher D-dimer levels and to determine the acute effect of resistance exercise(RE) with BFR on this ***:Two hundred and six HD patients volunteered for this study(all with a glomerular filtration rate of mL/min/1.73 m2).The RE+BFR session consisted of 50% arterial occlusion pressure during 50 min sessions of HD(intradialytic exercise).RE repetitions included concentric and eccentric lifting phases(each lasting 2 s) and were supervised by a strength and conditioning ***:Several variables were associated with elevated levels of D-dimer,including higher blood glucose,citrate use,recent cardiovascular events,recent intercurrents,higher inflammatory status,catheter as vascular access,older patients(>70 years old),and HD ***,RE+BFR significantly increases D-dimer after 4 *** with borderline baseline D-dimer levels(400-490 ng/mL) displayed increased risk of elevating D-dimer over the normal range(≥500 ng/mL).Conclusion:These results identified factors associated with a heightened prothrombotic state and may assist in the screening process for HD patients who wish to undergo RE+BFR.D-dimer and/or other fibrinolysis factors should be assessed at baseline and throughout the protocol as a precautionary measure to maximize safety during RE+BFR.

Short-term microbial responses to soluble inorganic P input in a tropical lowland rain forest in Amazonia

Treatability studies of naphthalene in soil,water and air with persulfate activated by iron(Ⅱ)

Experimental statistic design applied for obtaining Zn:xCe by microwave-assisted hydrothermal method with photocatalytic property

In this study, the nanostructures of pure ZnO and ZnO:xCe3+ were prepared using statistic design—factorial design 3(3−1)−3-level and mixed-level factorials and fractional with replicates in the central point, totaling 11 experiments. The experiments were performed using the microwave-assisted hydrothermal (mAH) method with Ce3+ concentration of 2 and 4 mol% at 60, 110, and 160 °C for 10, 20, and 30 min. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEm), and optical diffuse reflectance were used to characterize the products. The fractional factorial design indicated the optimal design area, and the studies were continued by ridge analysis. The analysis of variance (ANOVA), the Pareto, and the model adjusted to the conditions proposed in this study due to the determination coefficient of 99.9%, variance (R 2), and response surface generated were satisfactory, thus having an optimization in the process of obtaining ZnO doped with Ce.

Exergames can be considered a dual task because the games are performed by a man-videogame interface, requiring cognitive and motor functions simultaneously. Although the literature has shown improvements of cognitive and physical functions due to exergames, the intrinsic mechanisms involved in these functional changes have still not been elucidated. The aims of the present study were（1） to demonstrate the known biological mechanisms of physical exercise regarding muscle adaptation and establish a relationship with exergames; and（2） to present a neurobiological hypothesis about the neuroplastic effects of exergames on the cognitive function of institutionalized older persons. These hypotheses are discussed.

Tree structure and diversity of lowland Atlantic forest fragments：comparison of disturbed and undisturbed remnants

This study describes the tree community structure of three moist lowland Atlantic Forest fragments in Rio de Janeiro State, southeastern Brazil. Two fragments were disturbed and an undisturbed one was used as reference. Our hypothesis was that disturbed fragments show distinct structural patterns in comparison with undisturbed stands due to past disturbance practices and forest fragmentation. Four 100 ×5 m sampling plots were demarcated in each fragment and all live and dead trees with DBH C 5 cm were located, measured and identified. The results supported our hypothesis, due to the high values found for standing dead trees, an increase of dominance of a few pioneer species, lower values of large trees and species richness in disturbed fragments in comparison with the undisturbed one. The advanced fragmentation process in the Southern Brazilian lowland areas and the high species richness in undisturbed areas highlight these forest fragments as priority areas for conservation and management.

Aerodynamic Effects Compensation on multi-Rotor UAVs Based on a Neural Network Control Allocation Approach
