Allocosa brasiliensis is a sand-dwelling wolf spider considered a good bioindicator to evaluate the quality of coastal dune ecosystems from Uruguay. Habitat fragmentation and human activities have impacted and reduced the Southern Uruguayan coast during the last decades. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the density, surface activity and habitat preference of A. brasiliensis in beaches with different human impact. For that purpose, we sampled during the night with head lamps and applied the capture-mark-recapture method. Females were more abundant than males and were the most recaptured sex. The most fragmented beaches showed lower number of burrows and individuals, especially in immatures stages. We found that the most suitable sandy habitat for A. brasiliensis should present a vegetation cover optimum of 25% - 50% of the surface. This study could provide tools for the implementation of future management conservation plans of the Southern Uruguayan coastline.

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune treatable but not curable *** are a multiplicity of medications for multiple sclerosis therapy,including a class entitled disease-modifying drugs that are mainly indicated to reduce the number and severity of disease *** all patients respond well to these therapies,and minor to severe adverse effects have been *** d,called sunshine vitamin,is being studied as a possible light at the end of the *** this review,we recapitulated the similar immunopathogenesis of multiple sclerosis and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis,the immunomodulatory and neuroprotective potential of vitamin d and the state-of-art concerning its supplementation to multiple sclerosis ***,based on our and other groups’experimental findings,we analyzed the need to consider the relevance of the route and the different time-point administration aspects for a more rational indication of this vitamin to multiple sclerosis patients.

Chronic pain, a multidimensional experience affecting individuals’ sensory, cognitive, and emotional aspects, significantly impacts their quality of life. Post-laminectomy syndrome, a condition characterized by persistent back pain following spinal surgery, often leads to disability and increased healthcare utilization. Methods: This randomized, controlled, blind clinical trial aimed to investigate the efficacy of Transcranial direct Current Stimulation (tdCS) in managing pain from post-laminectomy syndrome in patients. Twenty-four participants were assigned to three groups: sham stimulation, active stimulation over primary motor cortex (M1), or stimulation over dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dLPFC). Stimulation was administered for five consecutive days, 20 minutes per session, using a current of 1.5 mA through 25 cm2 electrodes. Pain intensity was assessed using Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before, during, and after intervention. Results: An ANOVA model demonstrates significant reduction in pain intensity compared to baseline in VAS, (F(7, 285) = 12.292;p 0.001;Power = 1.000;η2p = 0.534), in tdCS applied to M1, after five days of intervention. After stimulation, a significant improvement was observed in WHOQoL-Bref Quality of life item 1 (p = 0.04), considering statistical significant difference p 0.05. Correlation between the variables: quality of life, depression, anxiety and pain also demonstrates reduction in depression and anxiety according to Beck’s depression and Anxiety Inventories (BdI and BAI), p 0.05. This effect was not observed in dLPFC stimulation group. Patients who believed they received active stimulation, in sham group, demonstrated potential for effective blinding. Conclusion: The tdCS applied to primary motor cortex effectively improved pain management and psychiatry symptoms in post-laminectomy syndrome patients. Eucalyptus benthamii is a forest species of economic interest that has difficulty with seed production and also is considered to have difficulty with adventitious rooting using propagation techniques, such as cutting or mini-cutting. We aimed to assess the adventitious rooting percentage under different storage times in low temperatures and at various IBA （indole-3-butyric acid） concentrations to determine the optimal time of permanence for rooting Eucalyptus benthamii minicuttings in a greenhouse. Shoots collected from mini-stumps cultivated in a semi-hydroponic system were used to obtain the mini-cuttings. For the first experiment, the mini-cuttings were stored at 4℃ for 0 （immediate planting）, 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120 h. The second experiment evaluated the rooting dynamic to determine the optimal time of permanence for minicuttings in a greenhouse. The basal region of the mini-cutting was treated with various IBA solutions： 0 （free of IBA）, 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 mg.L^-1. Every seven days （0 （immediate planting）, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days）, destructive sampling of the mini-cuttings was performed to evaluate the histology of the adventitious rooting. Eucalyptus benthamii minicuttings should be rooted immediately after the collection of the shoots. The 2,000 mg.L^-1 IBA concentration induced a greater speed and percentage of adventitious rooting, and an interval of 35 to 42 days was indicated for permanence of the mini-cuttings in the greenhouse. Expo- sure to low temperature induced adventitious root formation with diffuse vascular connections.

The current study set out to find out how shrimp quality in cold storage(4°C)for 21 d was impacted by antimelanosic treatments(10%acerola fruit extract(AF)and 1.25%sodium metabisulphite(SMS)solutions for 10 min)in combination with modified atmosphere packaging(MAP,including vacuum):Atmospheric air(AIR),MAP1[70%N_(2):25%CO_(2):5%O_(2)],MAP2[25%N_(2):70%CO_(2):5%O_(2)],and vacuum(VAC).Untreated samples were considered as Control(C).Every three days,microbiological,physicochemical,and sensory investigations were ***,the findings show that MAP improve the shelf-life of shrimp stored under 4°*** the battle to control melanosis,SMS's effectiveness–either alone or in combination with MAP–was ***,the AF was also efficient and can be an effective and a natural substitute in the control of *** considering the results of the physico-chemical and microbiological results,the SMS often did not differ from the treatment with AF,demonstrating the excellent viability of the AF on the quality of the shrimp stored under ***,given that acerola's high levels of vitamin C and phenolic compounds are known to have antioxidant activity,it is advised that additional studies be ***,these studies should aim to isolate specific fruit parts(peel,pulp,seeds)to determine where the highest concentration of phenolic compounds is found,or even to purify acerola extracts to comprehend the fruit's true antimelanosic potential.

Over the last decade,obesity rates have continued to rise in the United States as well as worldwide and are showing no signs of slowing *** rise is in parallel with the increasing rates of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2dM).Given the association between obesity and T2dM and their strong correlation with increased morbidity and mortality in addition to healthcare expenditure,it is important to recognize the most effective ways to combat ***,we performed a review of literature that focused on assessing the outcomes of T2dM following bariatric *** evidence suggests that bariatric surgery provides better T2dM resolution in obese patients when compared to best medical management ***,Biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch as well as Roux-en-Y gastric bypass have demonstrated higher rates of T2dM resolution when compared with other bariatric procedures.
