This paper brings the comparison of performances of CO_(2)conversion by plasma and plasma-assisted catalysis based on the data collected from literature in this field,organised in an open access online database.This tool is open to all users to carry out their own analyses,but also to contributors who wish to add their data to the database in order to improve the relevance of the comparisons made,and ultimately to improve the efficiency of CO_(2)conversion by plasma-catalysis.The creation of this database and database user interface is motivated by the fact that plasma-catalysis is a fast-growing field for all CO_(2)conversion processes,be it methanation,dry reforming of methane,methanolisation,or others.As a result of this rapid increase,there is a need for a set of standard procedures to rigorously compare performances of different systems.However,this is currently not possible because the fundamental mechanisms of plasma-catalysis are still too poorly understood to define these standard procedures.Fortunately however,the accumulated data within the CO_(2)plasma-catalysis community has become large enough to warrant so-called“big data”studies more familiar in the fields of medicine and the social sciences.To enable comparisons between multiple data sets and make future research more effective,this work proposes the first database on CO_(2)conversion performances by plasma-catalysis open to the whole community.This database has been initiated in the framework of a H_(2)0_(2)0 European project and is called the“PIONEER Data Base”.The database gathers a large amount of CO_(2)conversion performance data such as conversion rate,energy efficiency,and selectivity for numerous plasma sources coupled with or without a catalyst.Each data set is associated with metadata describing the gas mixture,the plasma source,the nature of the catalyst,and the form of coupling with the plasma.Beyond the database itself,a data extraction tool with direct visualisation features or advanced filtering functionalities has been developed a

Introduction: 68Ga-PSMA-11 is considered the gold standard in detection of micro and oligometastases in advanced prostate cancer, being used for therapeutic planning, as well as, potentially, for evaluating response to treatment. The development of ready-to-use lyophilized kit of PSMA-11 adds quality and safety to the routine use of this radiopharmaceutical and represents a pharmacotechnical challenge as it must preserve the integrity and specificity of the ligand. Methods: PSMA-11 kit formulation was proposed, considering radiolabeling parameters and the preservation of the peptide during the lyophilization process, using mannitol as an excipient. Critical temperature characterization studies were carried out using DSC equipment and the freeze-drying process was developed. The direct radiolabeling conditions were evaluated and standardized using 68Ge/68Ga generator eluate from two different manufacturers (ITG and Eckert & Ziegler). The radiochemical purity was evaluated by TLC and HPLC. Biological evaluation was carried out with lyophilized PSMA-11 to demonstrate the integrity of the peptide and preservation of biological activity after the lyophilization process. Results: Based on critical temperature characterization studies, the freeze-drying cycle was designed to reach a freezing temperature of around −40˚C and primary drying at 2˚C. Using 20 mg of mannitol, an intact and elegant lyophilized cake was obtained. PSMA-11 lyophilized kit was directly labeled with 68Ga eluate from 68Ge/68Ga GMP generators (ITG and Eckert & Ziegler) resulting in % RP > 95% at pH 4.0 to 4.5. The results obtained from in vitro and in vivo biological competition studies confirmed the preservation of PSMA-11 affinity for the receptor after lyophilization. Conclusion: A lyophilized formulation (Kit) of PSMA-11 was successfully obtained, which preserved the integrity and biological activity of the peptide and guaranteed radiolabeling efficiency.

In this paper, we will address common psychological reactions to disability such as anxiety, depression, denial, and anger in the framework of a stage model. In addition, this paper will discuss specific societal aspects that can impact reaction and adjustment to disability. In this vein, we will examine the specific effects of societal attitudes and stigma upon individuals with disabilities. Strategies for changing attitudes and facilitating adjustment to disability will also be discussed.

The use of high resolution anterior segment optical coherence tomography for the characterization of conjunctival lymphoma, conjunctival amyloidosis and benign reactive lymphoid hyperplasia

Background:Conjunctival lymphoma,conjunctival amyloidosis and benign reactive lymphoid hyperplasia(BRLH)are conditions that often have a similar appearance on the ocular surface.The use of high resolution anterior segment optical coherence tomography(HR-OCT)enables clinicians to evaluate distinctive differences in tissue morphology and cellular patterns in various ocular surface conditions.In this study,we characterize the morphological differences seen in conjunctival lymphoma,conjunctival amyloidosis and BRLH on HR-OCT imaging.Methods:A retrospective chart review was performed of patients with biopsy proven conjunctival lymphoma,conjunctival amyloidosis and BRLH between 2012 and 2019 at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.Patients were excluded if HR-OCT imaging was not performed on initial presentation.Results:Thirty-four total eyes of 27 patients were identified.Twenty eyes had conjunctival lymphoma(16 patients),8 eyes had conjunctival amyloidosis(6 patients)and 6 eyes had BRLH(5 patients).All conditions appeared clinically as pink,red or yellow subepithelial lesions but had different features on HR-OCT.In lymphoma,HR-OCT images typically showed homogenous,dark subepithelial lesions with smooth borders,containing monomorphic dot-like infiltrates.HR-OCT images of amyloidosis typically showed heterogeneous,dark lesions with irregular borders,often containing hyperreflective linear infiltrates.HR-OCT images of BRLH showed variable infiltration of the subepithelial tissue,at times with homogenous lesions containing dot-like infiltrates like lymphoma and other times with more hyperreflective,subepithelial tissue.Flow cytometry and gene rearrangement was needed for final differentiation between BRLH and lymphoma lesions.Conclusions:Distinctive features on HR-OCT of conjunctival lymphoma,conjunctival amyloidosis and BRLH can help characterize these lesions beyond what is apparent with the clinical examination.Future studies can further validate this technology’s use with more subtle and challenging lesions.

THE chit chat at family dinner a couple of years ago turned political when we began discussing the best alternatives for my home country’s development.I argued,on a self-sufficient line,that protecting and managing our biodiversity instead of relying on fossil fuels—as we had for decades—was Colombia’s best possible strategy.To me,in view of our enviable competitive advantage of hosting around 10 percent of the world’s biodiversity,this made irrefutable sense.But the knee-jerk response of a family friend knocked the wind out of my sails.Genuinely curious,he asked,“What the heck is biodiversity?How do you use it?How can it improve our GDP?”

Lysophosphatidic acid(LPA)is an abundant,bioactive phospholipid,with multiple functions both in development and in pathological conditions.Here,we review the literature about the differential signaling of LPA through its specific receptors,which makes this lipid a versatile signaling molecule.This differential signaling is important for understanding how this molecule can have such diverse effects during central nervous system development and angiogenesis;and also,how it can act as a powerful mediator of pathological conditions,such as neuropathic pain,neurodegenerative diseases,and cancer progression.Ultimately,we review the preclinical and clinical uses of Autotaxin,LPA,and its receptors as therapeutic targets,approaching the most recent data of promising molecules modulating both LPA production and signaling.This review aims to summarize the most update knowledge about the mechanisms of LPA production and signaling in order to understand its biological functions in the central nervous system both in health and disease.

Muscle strength cut-offs for the detection of metabolic syndrome in a nonrepresentative sample of collegiate students from Colombia

Background: Evidence shows an association between grip strength and health;however, grip strength cut-offs for the detection of metabolic syndrome(MetS) in Latin American populations are scarce. The purpose of this study was to determine cut-offs of normalized grip strength(NGS)for the detection of MetS in a large nonrepresentative sample of a collegiate student population from Colombia.Methods: A total of 1795 volunteers(61.4% female;age = 20.68 ± 3.10 years, mean ± SD), ranging between 18 and 30 years of age participated in the study. Strength was estimated using a handheld dynamometer and normalized to body mass(handgrip strength(kg)/body mass(kg)). Anthropometrics, serum lipids indices, blood pressure, and fasting plasma glucose were measured. Body composition was measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis. MetS was defined as including ≥3 of the 5 metabolic abnormalities according to the International Diabetes Federation definition. A metabolic risk score was computed from the following components: waist circumference, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, glucose, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure.Results: Receiver operating curve analysis showed significant discriminatory accuracy of NGS in identifying the thresholds and risk categories.Lower strength was associated with increased prevalence of MetS. In males, weak, intermediate, and strong NGS values at these points were0.615, respectively. In females, these cut-off points were 0.437, respectively.Conclusion: Our sex-specific cut-offs of NGS could be incorporated into a clinical setting for identifying college students at cardiometabolic disease risk.

An Approach for Micropropagation of Blueberry (<i>Vaccinium corymbosum</i>L.) Plants Mediated by Temporary Immersion Bioreactors (TIBs)

A new procedure for blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) micropropagation in programmed Temporary Immersion Bioreactors (TIBs based on two separate bottles) was developed for the commercial genotypes Biloxi, Sharp Blue and Brillita. Plant cultures were developed in a controlled environment with 0.4 MPa CO2 enrichment, sucrose-reduced medium, and light intensity of 60 mM m-2·s-1. Principal component analysis showed that component 1 (C1) grouped 64.08% of the total variability, while the first two components accounted for 86.97%. Representation of the principal components demonstrated three clusters corresponding with the blueberry genotypes, and within each cluster plants micropropagated in agar-base medium grouped separately from those plants multiplied in TIBs. Both plant number and total internodes traits (related to the productive efficiency) were demonstrated superior in blueberries propagated in TIBs. Additionally, when transferred to greenhouse conditions, blueberries propagated in TIBs showed higher adaptability and growing rates than those cultured by the conventional approach, altogether evidencing the occurrence of a photomixotrophic stage in the vitroplantlets cultured in TIBs.
