scientific studies have focused on environmentally friendly solutions as effective as the reuse of crop products owing to plastic-waste problems in recent *** issue is the main driving force for upcoming academic research attempts in waste valorization-related ***,we integrated an aqua-waste,mussel shell(Ms),as a bioadditive form into green thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)green *** of the Ms surface was performed to achieve strong adhesion between composite *** surface functionalities of Ms powders were evaluated via infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy(sEM)*** samples were prepared by melt-compounding followed by injection molding *** was confirmed by morphological analysis that relatively better adhesion between the phases was achieved for composites involving surface-modified Ms compared to unmodified *** strength and Young’s modulus of surface-modified Ms-filled composites were found to be higher than those of unmodified Ms,whereas the elongation at break shifted to lower values with Ms *** shore hardness of TPU was remarkably improved after being incorporated with silane-treated Ms(As-Ms).stearic acid-treated Ms(sT-Ms)additions resulted in an enhancement in the thermal stability of the ***-mechanical analysis showed that the storage moduli of composites were higher than those of unfilled ***-Ms additions led to an increase in the characteristic glass transition temperature of *** flow index(MFI)of neat TPU was highly improved after Ms loading regardless of modification *** to the wear test,surface modification of Ms displayed a positive effect on the wear resistance of *** the water absorption data of the composites were evaluated,the TPU/As-Ms composite yielded the lowest water *** silane layer on Ms inclusion promoted water repellency of composites due to the hydrophobicity of *** results of the biodegradation

We present a method to fabricate handcrafted thermoelectric devices on standard office paper *** devices are based on thin films of Ws_(2),Te,and BP(P-type semiconductors)and Tis_(3)and Tis_(2)(N-type semiconductors),deposited by simply rubbing powder of these materials against *** thermoelectric properties of these semiconducting films revealed maximum seebeck coefficients of(+1.32±0.27)mV K^(-1)and(-0.82±0.15)mV K^(-1)for Ws_(2)and Tis_(3),***,Peltier elements were fabricated by interconnecting the P-and N-type films with graphite electrodes.A thermopower value up to 6.11 mV K^(-1)was obtained when the Peltier element were constructed with three *** findings of this work show proof-of-concept devices to illustrate the potential application of semiconducting van der Waals materials in future thermoelectric power generation as well as temperature sensing for low-cost disposable electronic devices.

Aims: The present study aims to compare the assessment of work ability based on the use of the Work Ability Index (WAI) with another questionnaire base only on the use of WAI’s first item, termed as the “Work Ability score” (WAs). study design: A cohort of 384 spanish workers included in a Post COVID-19 condition or persistent COVID-19 multicenter research was utilized. Place and Duration of study: This cohort was enlisted in four hospitals (Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre, Madrid;Hospital Universitario Virgen Macarena, sevilla, Andalucía;Hospital Universitario Gregorio Marañón, Madrid and Complejo Asistencial Universitario de salamanca, Castilla y León), since 2021 until 2022. Methodology: 384 spanish workers (176 men and 208 women;aged 20 to 70 years) with Post COVID-19 condition or persistent COVID-19 were included. Descriptive analysis of primary scores was conducted. Given the non-normal distribution of data, the Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests were employed. spearman and Kendall correlations were employed to assess the relationship between WAI and WAs, also used weighted Kappa to estimate the degree agreement between WAI and WAs. Logistic regression models were utilized to study determinants influencing WAI and WAs, categorized as poor or moderate. Results: WAI had an average score of 32.98 (sD = 10.28), whereas WAs had an average of 5.95 (sD = 2.77). significant differences were observed in both WAI and WAs across the same variables. strong and statistically significant correlations were evident between WAI and WAs (rs = 0.83, p s used in the logistic regression model (gender, the sector employment, and previous chronic diseases) were statistically significant in both questionnaires. Conclusion: WAs questionnaire could be used as a tool for reliable assessment of work ability among spanish workers with Post COVID-19 condition or Persistent CO-VID-19.

Background schistosomiasis is highly endemic in sub-saharan Africa and frequently imported to Europe. Male urogenital manifestations are often neglected. We aimed to ascertain the prevalence of genitourinary clinical signs and symptoms among long-term African migrants in a non-endemic European country using a serology *** We carried out a prospective, community-based cross-sectional study of adult male migrants from sub-saharan Africa living in *** serology tests and microscopic urine examinations were carried out, and clinical data were obtained from an electronic medical record search and a structured *** We included 388 adult males, mean age 43.5 years [standard Deviation (sD) = 12.0, range: 18–76]. The median time since migration to the European Union was 17 [Interquartile range (IQR): 11–21] years. The most frequent country of origin was senegal (N = 179, 46.1%). Of the 338, 147 (37.6%) tested positive forschistosoma. Parasite eggs were present in the urine of only 1.3%. Nine genitourinary clinical items were significantly associated with positiveschistosoma serology results: pelvic pain (45.2%;OR = 1.57, 95%CI: 1.0–2.4), pain on ejaculation (14.5%;OR = 1.85, 95%CI: 1.0–3.5), dyspareunia (12.4%;OR = 2.45, 95%CI: 1.2–5.2), erectile dysfunction (9.5%;OR = 3.10, 95%CI: 1.3–7.6), self-reported episodes of infertility (32.1%;OR = 1.69, 95%CI: 1.0–2.8), haematuria (55.2%;OR = 2.37, 95%CI: 1.5–3.6), dysuria (52.1%;OR = 2.01, 95%CI: 1.3–3.1), undiagnosed syndromic sTIs (5.4%), and orchitis (20.7%;OR = 1.81, 95%CI: 1.0–3.1). Intestinal anti-inflammatory effect of a plant sterol food supplement in experimental murine colitis and cell co-culture models

The potential of a plant sterol food supplement （Ps-Fs） in addressing intestinal inflammation in vivo and in vitro was evaluated. As in vivo model， C57BL/6J mice were exposed to 1.5% dextran sulfate sodium in three 5-day periods， with 10-day rest intervals in between， daily reciving Ps-Fs （35 mg Ps/kg）. The in vitro approach involved a bi-cameral system with 8-day-differentiated Caco-2 （apical） and RAW264.7 cells （basolateral）. The bioaccessible fraction of Ps-Fs， obtained after INFOGEsT 2.0 simulated gastrointestinal digestion， was added to the apical part （90 min）， followed by stimulation with lipopolysaccharide （1 μg/mL， 24 h）. Ps-Fs alleviated rectal bleeding and rebalanced pro- (tumor necrosis factor α， interleukin （IL）-6， and IL-8) and anti-inflammatory cytokines （IL-10）. Additionally， Ps-Fs ameliorated histopathological damage and enhancing occludin expression. A reduction in oxidative stress was evidenced by decreased myeloperoxidase activity and reactive oxygen species production. The anti-inflammatory mechanism included suppressing cyclooxygenase 2 expression， reducing prostaglandin E2production， and inhibiting the phosphorylation and nuclear translocation of the nuclear factor κB p65 subunit. This study reveals the potential of Ps-Fs as a therapeutic intervention for colitis. The alignment between in vivo and in vitro outcomes substantiates the appropriateness of the co-culture model to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of foods.
