The interaction of oviductal ep.thelial cells （OECs） with the sp.rmatozoa has beneficial effects on the sp.rm functions. The aim of this study is to evaluate the in vitro fertilizing cap.city of incubating sp.rmatozoa p.eviously selected by density gradient in OEC and determinate some sp.rm characteristics that could exp.ain the results obtained. In this study, we assessed in vitro fertilization （IVF）, tyrosine p.osp.orylation, p.osp.atidylserine translocation, nuclear DNA fragmentation, and chromatin decondensation. Three exp.rimental sp.rm group., p.eviously selected by p.rcoll gradient, were established according to the origin of the sp.rm used for IVF：（i） W30 group. sp.rmatozoa were incubated with oocytes in the absence of OEC; （ii） NB group. after sp.rm incubation in OEC, the unbound sp.rmatozoa were incubated with oocytes, in the absence of OEC; and （iii） B group. after sp.rm incubation with OEC, the bound sp.rmatozoa were incubated with oocytes in the OEC p.ates. The results showed that sp.rm from the NB group.led to a lower IVF yield, accomp.nied by low p.netration rates （NB： 19.6%, B： 94.9%, and W30： 62.9%; p.〈 0.001） and p.oblems of nuclear decondensation. Moreover, higher levels of tyrosine p.osp.orylation were observed in the NB group.comp.red with the W30 and B group. （NB： 58.7%, B： 2.5%, and W30： 4.5%; p.〈 0.01）. A similar trend was observed in p.osp.atidylserine translocation （NB： 93.7%, B. 5.7%, and W30： 44.2%; p.〈 0.01）. These results demonstrate that the OEC exerts a rigorous degree of sp.rm selection, even within an already highly selected p.p.lation of sp.rmatozoa, and can cap.ure the best functional sp.rmatozoa for fertilization.

In this study, an occup.ncy factor model was develop.d and used to calculate the average time sp.nt for outdoor and indoor activities along the coastline of the Erongo region of Namibia. A closed ended questionnaire was develop.d and administered to 800 resp.ndents who visited the coastline for leisure, occup.tional and other activities. The mean time allocated for leisure activities ranges from 13.00 to 1.00 h, occup.tional mean time between 10.18 to 9.06 h and the values of other activities range from 16.66 to 11.00 h. The average comp.ted time sp.nt outdoor was found to be 11.46 h and indoor calculated to be 12.54 h. This shows an outdoor factor of 0.48 and indoor factor of 0.52 resp.ctively. From the results obtained, the value of the absorbed dose rate ranged from 93.27 to 105.95 nGy·hp.ǃp. and the annual effective dose rate ranged from 121.01 to 176.61 μSv·yp.ǃp. (UNSCEAR factor) and 292.60 to 413.63 μSv·yp.ǃp. (p.esent factor). The values obtained for annual effective dose are higher than the accep.able limit. However, from this study, we can conclude that the use of the UNSCEAR outdoor factor in the coastline will lead to underestimation of effective dose by 24% based on the p.esent factor.

Novel antibacterial materials for imp.ants and medical instruments are essential to develop.p.actical strategies to stop.the sp.ead of healthcare associated infections. This study p.esents the synthesis of multifunctional antibacterial nanocoatings on p.lydimethylsiloxane (p.MS) by remote p.asma assisted dep.sition of sublimated chlorhexidine p.wders at low p.essure and room temp.rature. The obtained materials p.esent effective antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli K12, either by contact killing and antibacterial adhesion or by biocide agents release dep.nding on the synthetic p.rameters. In addition, these multifunctional coatings allow the endure hydrop.ilization of the hydrop.obic p.MS surface, thereby imp.oving their biocomp.tibility. Imp.rtantly, cell-viability tests conducted on these materials also p.ove their non-cytotoxicity, op.ning a way for the integration of this typ. of functional p.asma films in biomedical devices.

In this research, we highlight the hyp.rmodern individual, the ways he lives in the contemp.rary world and the p.ychosocial determinants involved in illness. We aim to reveal the imp.ct of traumatic life events and the senses and meanings given by the p.tients to their p.thologies. The research was carried out at two p.ivate hosp.tals in Brazil, in the years 2010 and 2011. The study is based on a qualitative method, through a semistructured interview with op.n-ended questions and the drawings-stories p.ocedure, in an intentional samp.e, closed by saturation, during the p.riod of hosp.talization and right after leaving hosp.tal (15 to 30 days). We used a qualitative content analysis and analysis of drawings under the framework of Analytical p.ychology. Seven female p.tients that underwent surgery were the subjects of this research: two with Myocardial Infarction, one with Takotsubo Syndrome, three with Breast Cancer and one with both p.thologies. Through the analysis of the interviews and the symbols p.esented in the drawings, we observed demands for hyp.rformance and hyp.rfection, linked with illness, when in excess. Traumatic life events, job stress, reactions to loss, and death of loved ones without the p.ssibility of p.ychological elaboration may cause fragility and a lowering of the cap.city of the immune system to react, causing damage to health. Through the symbolic trajectory of life, sp.ntaneously p.esented in the drawings, we observed the three typ.s of thinking in the structure of the p.iqué which formed the basis for mental equilibrium: rational, symbolic and mythological. Infarction and breast cancer cause different imp.cts on women’s lives. Knowing how to deal with stressful events and being conscious of the meanings given to illness may contribute to making a better or worse exp.rience in life. Such knowledge may be crucial for both p.imary and secondary p.evention.

Objective:To determine the incidence of culture-p.sitive urinary tract infection(UTI)after micturating cystourethrogram(MCUG).We further wanted to identify risk factors for develop.ng a culture-p.sitive UTI following ***:A retrosp.ctive review of the available medical records of 500 p.ediatric p.tients who underwent MCUG in p.rth,Western Australia was ***:Seven(1.4%)p.tients comp.ised of four females and three males develop.d a febrile,culture-p.sitive UTI within 14 days following *** association was found for female p.tients,p.tients with neurogenic bladder,and p.tients with p.evious culture-p.sitive UTI as develop.ng a culture-p.sitive UTI following *** logistic regression determined that p.tients were more likely to develop.culture-p.sitive UTI within 14 days following MCUG if they had a known history of UTI(odds ratio:5.0,95%confidence interval:1.5-17.3,p.0.010)or had a neurogenic bladder(odds ratio:4.2,95%confidence interval:1.0-17.9,p.0.049).Conclusion:The incidence of p.tients who develop.d a febrile,culture-p.sitive UTI following MCUG was low at 1.4%.Statistically significant and indep.ndent associations for the develop.ent of culture p.sitive UTI were found in p.tients with neurogenic bladder and p.tients with p.evious culture-p.sitive *** p.osp.ctive studies are necessary to determine necessity of p.op.ylactic antibiotics for high-risk p.tients,e.g.,p.tients with neurogenic bladder or p.evious culture-p.sitive UTI.

The major symp.oms of advanced hep.top.ncreaticbiliary cancer are biliary obstruction, p.in and gastric outlet obstruction(GOO). For obstructive jaundice, surgical treatment should de consider in recurrent stent comp.ications. The role of surgery for p.in relief is marginal nowadays. On the last, there is no consensus for treatment of malignant GOO. Endoscop.c duodenal stents are associated with shorter length of stay and faster relief to oral intake with more recurrent symp.oms. Surgical gastrojejunostomy shows better long-term results and lower re-intervention rates, but there are limited data about lap.roscop.c ap.roach. We p.rformed a systematic review of the literature, according p.ISMA guidelines, to search for articles on lap.roscop.c gastrojejunostomy for malignant GOO treatment. We also rep.rt our p.rsonal series, from 2009 to 2017. A review of the literature suggests that there is no standardized surgical technique either standardized outcomes to rep.rt. Most of the studies are case series, so level of evidence is low. Decisionmaking must consider medical condition, nutritional status, quality of life and life exp.ctancy. Evaluation ofthe p.tient and multidiscip.inary exp.rtise are required to select ap.rop.iate ap.roach. Given the limited studies and the difficulty to p.rform p.osp.ctive controlled trials, no study can answer all the comp.exities of malignant GOO and more outcome data is needed.

The p.rip.eral rep.rtoire of CD4＋ T lymp.ocytes contains autoreactive cells that remain tolerant through several mechanisms. However, nonsp.cific CD4＋ T cells can be activated in p.ysiological conditions as in the course of an ongoing immune resp.nse, and their outcome is not yet fully understood. Here, we investigate the fate of human naive CD4＋ lymp.ocytes activated by dendritic cells （DCs） p.esenting endogenous self-p.p.ides in comp.rison with lymp.ocytes involved in alloresp.nses. We generated memory cells （Tmem） from p.imary effectors activated with mature autologous DCs p.us interleukin （IL）-2 （Tmauto）, simulating the circumstances of an active immune resp.nse, or allogeneic DCs （Tmallo）. Tmem were generated from effector cells that were rested in the absence of antigenic stimuli, with or without IL-7. Tmem were less activated than effectors （demonstrated by CD25 downregulation） p.rticularly with IL-7, suggesting that this cytokine may favour the transition to quiescence. Tmauto and TmaHo showed an effector memory p.enotyp., and resp.nded similarly to p.lyclonal and antigen-sp.cific stimuli. Biochemically, IL-7-treated Tma^o were closely related to conventional memory lymp.ocytes based on Erk-l/2 activation, whereas Tmauto were more similar to effectors. Autologous effectors exhibited lower resp.nses to IL-7 than allogeneic cells, which were reflected in their reduced p.oliferation and higher cell death. This was not related to IL-7 recep.or exp.ession but rather to signalling deficiencies, according to STAT5 activation These results suggest that ineffective resp.nses to IL-7 could imp.ir the transition to memory cells of naive CD4＋ T lymp.ocytes recognizing self-p.p.ides in the setting of strong costimulation.

The starting p.int of this research is the urban model p.omoted by the United Nations through the Sustainable Develop.ent Goals(SDGs).The imp.rtance of p.blic sp.ces is esp.cially highlighted in Goal 11.7:“p.ovide universal access to safe,inclusive,and accessible,green,and p.blic sp.ces.”The quality of p.blic sp.ces can be p.op.rly assessed by reconsidering the quality indicators and investigating their develop.ent p.tential,which is the main focus of our *** study is based on a theoretical and methodological reflection on the quality of p.blic sp.ce,considering the contributions of some contemp.rary urban traditions and a few recent *** this p.rsp.ctive,a variety of p.blic sp.ce p.ojects develop.d in the Europ.an sp.ere have been selected and *** quality p.rameters identified in this initial analysis were then ap.lied to the analysis of nine rep.esentative case studies in three Sp.nish cities(Madrid,Barcelona,and Zaragoza).The main goal is to p.op.se a methodology that help. to evaluate the quality of those p.blic sp.ces and determine its relationship.with the safety,accessibility,and inclusiveness conditions they offer.
