AIm: To compare the efficacy and safety of recombinant streptokinase(rSK) vs hydrocortisone acetate-based suppositories in acute hemorrhoidal ***: A multicenter(11 sites), randomized(1:1:1), open, controlled trial with parallel groups was performed. All participating patients gave their written,informed consent. After inclusion, patients with acute symptoms of hemorrhoids were centrally randomized to receive, as outpatients, by the rectal route, suppositories of rSK 200000 IU of one unit every 8 h(first 3 units)and afterwards every 12 h until 8 administrations were completed(schedule A), one unit every 8 h until 6 units were completed(schedule B), or 25 mg hydrocortisone acetate once every 8 h up to a maximum of 24 administrations. Evaluations were performed at 3, 5,and 10 d post-inclusion. The main end-point was the 5thday response(disappearance of pain and bleeding, and≥ 70% reduction of the lesion size). Time to response and need for thrombectomy were secondary efficacy variables. Adverse events were also ***: Groups were homogeneous with regards to demographic and baseline characteristics. Fifth day complete response rates were 156/170(91.8%; 95%CI:87.3-96.2), 155/170(91.2%; 95%CI: 86.6%-95.7%),and 46/170(27.1%; 95%CI: 20.1%-34.0%) with rSK(schedule A and B) and hydrocortisone acetate suppositories, respectively. Finding appropriate photocatalysts for solar-driven water(H_(2)O)splitting to generate hydrogen(H_(2))fuel is a challenging task,particularly when guided by conventional trial-and-error experimental ***,density functional theory(DFT)is used to explore the mXenes photocatalytic properties,an emerging family of two-dimensional(2D)transition metal carbides and nitrides with chemical formula m_(n+1)X_(n)T_(x),known to be semiconductors when having T_(x)*** than 4,000 mXene structures have been screened,considering different compositional(m,X,T_(x),and n)and structural(stacking and termination position)factors,to find suitable mXenes with a bandgap in the visible region and band edges that align with the water-splitting half-reaction *** from bandgap analysis show how,in general,mXenes with n=1 and transition metals from group III present the most cases with bandgap and promising sizes,with C-mXenes being superior to *** band alignment calculations of candidate systems with a bandgap larger than 1.23 eV,the minimum required for a water-splitting process,Sc_(2)CT_(2),Y_(2)CT_(2)(T_(x)=Cl,Br,S,and Se)and Y_(2)CI_(2)are highlighted as adequate photocatalysts.

Agriculture has a close relationship with nature,but it can also be the source of negative and permanent environmental *** use of pesticides in modern agriculture is a common practice,but their side effects on the environment cannot be *** this study,we evaluated a combination of solarization and ozonation techniques for the elimination of six amide pesticides(boscalid,chlorantraniliprole,cyflufenamid,fluopyram,napropamide,and propyzamide)in *** experiments were performed with four different soils to assess the efficiency of this methodology at different soil temperatures and ozone dosages under laboratory conditions,and then a greenhouse pot experiment was conducted under controlled conditions during *** days after the onset of the experiments,higher degradation percentages of amide pesticides were observed in ozonized soils than in other treated soils,particularly when ozone was applied at 10 cm soil *** results show that the utilization of ozonation,along with solarization,represents a valid method for degrading residues of the studied pesticides and suggest that this combined technology may be a promising tool for remediating pesticide-polluted soils.

The results presented here show for the first time the experimental demonstration of the fabrication of lossy mode resonance(LmR) devices based on perovskite coatings deposited on planar waveguides. Perovskite thin films have been obtained by means of the spin coating technique and their presence was confirmed by ellipsometry, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction testing. The LmRs can be generated in a wide wavelength range and the experimental results agree with the theoretical simulations. Overall, this study highlights the potential of perovskite thin films for the development of novel LmR-based devices that can be used for environmental monitoring, industrial sensing, and gas detection, among other applications.

Air pollution poses a health hazard in all ***,complete data on ambient particulate matter(Pm)concentrations are not available in all world *** data is already a valuable source of exposure data in epidemiological studies examining the relationship between temperature and ***,the performance of reanalysis data in assessing the short-term health effects of particulate air pollution remains *** assessed the performance of CAmS reanalysis(EAC4)data from the European Centre for medium-Range Weather Forecasts,compared with daily Pm concentrations from field monitoring stations,to estimate short-term exposure to Pm with an aerodynamic diameter less than 10μm(Pm_(10))on daily mortality in 33 Spanish provincial capital cities using a two-stage time series regression *** shape of the Pm_(10)distribution varied substantially between Pm observations and CAmS global reanalysis of atmospheric composition(EAC4)reanalysis data,with correlation ranging from 0.21 to *** pooled mortality risk for a 10μg/m^(3)increase in Pm_(10)showed similar estimates using Pm concentrations{relative risks(RR)=1.007,95%confidence intervals(95%CI)=[1.002,1.011]}and EAC4 reanalysis data(RR=1.011,95%CI=[1.006,1.015]).However,the city-specific Pm_(10)beta coefficients estimated using Pm concentrations and EAC4 reanalysis data showed a low correlation(r=0.22).The use of reanalysis data should be approached with caution when assessing the association between particulate matter air pollution and health outcomes,particularly in cities with small populations.

Background:Hemodialysis(HD) per se is a risk factor for *** the growing body of evidence on blood-flow restriction(BFR) exercise in HD patients,identification of possible risk factors related to the prothrombotic agent D-dimer is required for the safety and feasibility of this training *** aim of the present study was to identify risk factors associated with higher D-dimer levels and to determine the acute effect of resistance exercise(RE) with BFR on this ***:Two hundred and six HD patients volunteered for this study(all with a glomerular filtration rate of mL/min/1.73 m2).The RE+BFR session consisted of 50% arterial occlusion pressure during 50 min sessions of HD(intradialytic exercise).RE repetitions included concentric and eccentric lifting phases(each lasting 2 s) and were supervised by a strength and conditioning ***:Several variables were associated with elevated levels of D-dimer,including higher blood glucose,citrate use,recent cardiovascular events,recent intercurrents,higher inflammatory status,catheter as vascular access,older patients(>70 years old),and HD ***,RE+BFR significantly increases D-dimer after 4 *** with borderline baseline D-dimer levels(400-490 ng/mL) displayed increased risk of elevating D-dimer over the normal range(≥500 ng/mL).Conclusion:These results identified factors associated with a heightened prothrombotic state and may assist in the screening process for HD patients who wish to undergo RE+BFR.D-dimer and/or other fibrinolysis factors should be assessed at baseline and throughout the protocol as a precautionary measure to maximize safety during RE+BFR.

We present a method to fabricate handcrafted thermoelectric devices on standard office paper *** devices are based on thin films of WS_(2),Te,and BP(P-type semiconductors)and TiS_(3)and TiS_(2)(N-type semiconductors),deposited by simply rubbing powder of these materials against *** thermoelectric properties of these semiconducting films revealed maximum Seebeck coefficients of(+1.32±0.27)mV K^(-1)and(-0.82±0.15)mV K^(-1)for WS_(2)and TiS_(3),***,Peltier elements were fabricated by interconnecting the P-and N-type films with graphite electrodes.A thermopower value up to 6.11 mV K^(-1)was obtained when the Peltier element were constructed with three *** findings of this work show proof-of-concept devices to illustrate the potential application of semiconducting van der Waals materials in future thermoelectric power generation as well as temperature sensing for low-cost disposable electronic devices.
