In sim.lations of fluidized beds using com.utational fluid dynam.cs （CFD）, the description of gas-solid flow hydrodynam.cs relies on a drag m.del to account for the m.m.ntum.transfer between gas and solid phases. Although several studies of drag m.dels have been published, there have been few investigations of the application of lattice Boltzm.nn m.thod （LBm.-based drag m.dels to bubbling fluidized bed sim.- lations. In the present study, a com.rehensive com.arison of em.irical and LBm.based drag m.dels was carried out to assess the perform.nce of these m.dels during sim.lations of gas-solid flow hydrodynam. ics in a bubbling fluidized bed. A CFD m.del using the m.IX code based on the Eulerian-Eulerian approach and the kinetic theory of granular flow was used to sim.late a 2D bubbling fluidized bed with Geldart B particles. The sim.lation results were validated by com.arison with experim.ntal data. Statistical anal- ysis of the results shows that LBm.based drag m.dels can reliably m.del gas-solid flow hydrodynam.cs in a bubbling fluidized bed.

Intra and in terspecific com.etiti on for n ectar play an im.orts nt role in hum.ingbird com.unities. Larger sized species usually exclude sm.ller species from the rich floral resources. However, it has been recently postulated that the com.etitive advantages of a large body size decline as the evolutionary distance between the contending species in creases. In this study, we analyzed dom.nance hierarchy dynam.cs in a hum.ingbird assem.lage in central m.xico. By m.nitoring hum.ingbird territories established in three plant species through 1 year, we assessed the effects of energy within territories and the territory owners identity in the frequency of inter and intraspecific encounters. We also evaluated if these factors affect the dom.nance of larger species when they com.ete against sm.ller distantly related contenders. Our results show that their frequency of intraspecific encounters was related with the identity of the territory's owner. On the contrary, the frequency of interspecific encounters was related with both the territory and the identity of the territory's owner. We did not find a significant difference between the num.er of encounters dom.nated by larger and sm.ller species and their conte nders. However, the in crease in genetic dista nee between contenders was positively associated with a higher frequency of encounters dom.nated by sm.ll *** results showed that the ecological factors and evolutionary relationships am.ng contenders play im.ortant roles in the dom.nance hierarchy dynam.cs.

High arsenic(As)and chromium.Cr)concentrations are currently receiving attention because of their negative effects on the environm.nt and hum.n *** inhabiting contam.nated environm.nts have developed resistance m.chanism. against the toxicity of these ***,m.m.ers of the bacterial genus m.crococcus have been isolated from different toxic m.tal-contam.nated environm.nts;however,knowledge concerning its resistance m.chanism. to As and Cr toxicity rem.ins *** luteus strains(An24,m.,NE2TL6,and NE2TTS4)were isolated from the endosphere and soil of two heavy m.tal-contam.nated sites in m.xico to identify differences in the resistance m.chanism. by the *** *** strains were resistant to As(As^(3+)and As^(5+)),chromate,dichromate,cobalt,copper,nickel,and *** analysis indicated that the heavy m.tal-resistant strains(An24,m.,NE2TL6,and NE2TTS4)could be assigned to the *** group and had m.re heavy m.tal-resistant genes(transporters,chaperones,and enzym.s)com.ared to reference strains of the *** group,*** NCTC 2665^(T)and m.crococcus endophyticus JCm.16951^(T).The resistant bacteria were able to biotransform.As^(3+)and As^(5+)through a carbon source-dependent *** biotransform.tion of As5+was potentially carried out in the cytoplasm.through a thioredoxin-dependent pathway,which m.y be coupled with biosorption.A qualitative analysis of organic acids(OAs)identified a change in the OA profile of the m.tal-resistant strains that was As-or *** genom.c and phenotypic findings suggest that the four *** group strains evaluated in the current study have developed resistance m.chanism. that m.y enable their survival in contam.nated sites.

This research reports on potentiality in the solar chim.ey as an exhaust ventilation device through a hypothetical statem.nt that convenient weather conditions exist on sub-hum.d warm.clim.te to enhance the perform.nce ofa SC （solar chim.ey）, in order to increase ventilation to dissipate m.tabolic heat from inhabitants of airtight buildings. The m.thodology used in this research integrates the use of sim.lified m.them.tical m.dels that predict in a sem.-em.irical way a potential volum. flow through estim.tion of kinetic power generation, by natural circulation and stack effect in a typical covered-plate air solar collector. The study was carried out during the warm.m.nth of April, an im.ortant warm.season for Colim., where the prevailing wind is about 6.8 m.s, the average tem.erature of m.xim.m. and m.nim.m. oscillates between 15.4℃and 34.4 ℃ with average relative hum.dity of 65% according to national weather service. A scale m.del of the SC was installed on environm.ntal cham.ers. The results showed that this device is capable of generating ventilation conditions around light breeze param.ters near between 0.6 m.s and 1.5 m.s width, a better perform.nce at day in 45% approxim.tely than the night values, m.king ventilation rates up 0.24 ACH （air changes per hour） as average air change rate.
