Alerting drivers about incoming emergency vehicles and their routes can greatly improve their travel time in congested cities, while reducing the risk of accidents due to distractions. this paper contributes to this goal by proposing Messiah, an Android application capable of informing regular vehicles about incoming emergency vehicles like ambulances, police cars and fire brigades. this is made possible by creating a network of vehicles capable of directly communicating between them. the user can, therefore, take driving decisions in a timely manner by considering incoming alerts. Using the support of our GRCBox hardware, the application can rely on vehicular ad-hoc network communications in the 5 GHz band, being V2V （vehicle-to-vehicle） communication provided through a combination of Android-based smartphone and our GRCBox device. the application was tested in three different scenarios with different levels of obstruction, showing that it is capable of providing alerts up to 300 meters, and notifying vehicles within less than one second.

Performance measurement(PM)generates useful data for process control,facilitates communication between different sectors,and helps to align efforts on the most important aspects of the ***,PM plays a key role in the management of projects and *** is also important in the implementation of lean production principles and methods,such as reducing the share of nonvalue-adding activities,increasing process transparency,building continuous improvement into the process,and ***,the adoption of the lean production philosophy requires changes in *** its importance,limited studies have been conducted on the use of PM systems for assessing the impact of lean production programs in construction *** addition,studies on how lean companies(or projects)use performance measurement and to what extent the indicators adopted reflect the result of actions that have been undertaken are *** study proposes a set of requirements in PM systems of construction projects from the perspective of lean production and a taxonomy of performance metrics for lean production *** empirical studies have been carried out on construction companies from South America involved in the implementation of lean production *** scope of this investigation is limited to the construction projects as production systems rather than PM at the level of construction organizations.

Payment schemes for environmental services face serious budget constraints in Mexico. Payments are equally distributed among forest owners, and the governmental agencies that make payments to beneficiaries do not evaluate the amount of environmental services produced by forested areas. this lack of evaluation could lead to economic and environmental deficiencies that restrict the possible benefits of such programmes. In general, these programmes do not achieve their conservation objectives, and local beneficiaries are not involved in the design or application of these programmes. Similarly, the Payments for Hydrological Environmental Services(PHES) programme of the State of Mexico, Mexico, makes equal payments to beneficiaries of forested areas considering tree density. the objective of the present work was to create a methodology for determining differentiated payments schemes for hydrological environmental services, prioritising areas that contribute the most to groundwater recharge and promote the participation of society. In the Nevado de toluca Natural Protected Area, the environmental criteria of forest type, tree density and aquifer overexploitation as well as social participation were considered in a multi-criteria analysis implemented in a Geographic Information System. A methodology was developed to determine differentiated payments based on specific forest characteristics that influence the potential capacity of forests to recharge groundwater reserves in addition to the level of social participation. In particular, social participation is key as it could ensure the viability of PHES programmes as conservation alternatives in forested areas with high groundwater recharge potential.

A comprehensive thermo-economic model combining a geothermal heat mining system and a direct supercritical CO_(2) turbine expansion electric power generation system was proposed in this *** by this integrated model,thermo-economic and optimization analyses for the key design parameters of the whole system including the geothermal well pattern and operational conditions were performed to obtain a minimal levelized cost of electricity(LCOE).Specifically,in geothermal heat extraction simulation,an integrated wellbore-reservoir system model(t2Well/ECO_(2)N)was used to generate a database for creating a fast,predictive,and compatible geothermal heat mining model by employing a response surface methodology.A parametric study was conducted to demonstrate the impact of turbine discharge pressure,injection and production well distance,CO_(2) injection flowrate,CO_(2) injection temperature,and monitored production well bottom pressure on LCOE,system thermal efficiency,and capital *** was found that for a 100 MWe power plant,a minimal LCOE of$0.177/kWh was achieved for a 20-year steady operation without considering CO_(2) sequestration *** addition,when CO_(2) sequestration credit is$1.00/t,an LCOE breakeven point compared to a conventional geothermal power plant is achieved and a breakpoint for generating electric power generation at no cost was achieved for a sequestration credit of $2.05/t.

this paper contains a study of propagation of singular travelling waves u（x, t） for conservation laws ut ＋ [Ф（u）]x = ψ（u）, where Ф, ψ are entire functions taking real values on the real axis. Conditions for the propagation of wave profiles β ＋ mδ and β ＋ mδt are presented （β is a real continuous function, m ≠ 0 is a real number and δ＇ is the derivative of the Dirac measure 5）. these results are obtained with a consistent concept of solution based on our theory of distributional products. Burgers equation ut ＋（u2/2）x = 0, the iffusionless Burgers-Fischer equation ut ＋ a（u2/2）x = ru（1 - u/k） with a, r, k being positive numbers, Leveque and Yee equation ut ＋ ux = μx（1 - u）（u - u/k） with μ ≠ 0, and some other examples are studied within such a setting. A ＂tool box＂ survey of the distributional products is also included for the sake of completeness.
