As hydropower development expands across lowland tropical forests,flooding and concomitant insular fragmentation have become important threats to *** created insular landscapes serve as natural laboratories to investigate biodiversity responses to *** of these most iconic landscapes is the Balbina Hydroelectric Reservoir in Brazilian Amazonia,occupying>400000 ha and comprising>3500 forest ***,we synthesise the current knowledge on responses of a wide range of biological groups to insular fragmentation at *** has largely concentrated on a set of 22 islands and three mainland *** total,39 studies were conducted over nearly two decades,covering 17 vertebrate,invertebrate,and plant *** species responses varied according to taxonomic group,island area was consistently included and played a pivotal role in 66.7%of all studies examining patterns of species *** persistence was further affected by species traits,mostly related to species capacity to use/traverse the aquatic matrix or tolerate habitat degradation,as noted for species of vertebrates and orchid *** research is needed to improve our understanding of such effects on wider ecosystem *** Impact Assessments must account for changes in both the remaining habitat amount and configuration,and subsequent long-term species losses.

Sexually transmitted diseases （StDs） are among the first ten causes of unpleasant diseases in young adult males in developing countries and the second major cause of unpleasant diseases in young adult women. Adolescents and young adults （15-24 years old） make up only 25% of the sexually active population, but represent almost 50% of all new acquired StDs. In general, StDs are epidemics and present an enormous health and economic consequences. An adequate screening for StDs should be done on a routine basis in every part of the world. Many StDs are asymptomatic and therefore can difficult to control. the purpose of reporting of StDs is to ensure that persons who are infected will be quickly diagnosed and appropriately treated to control the spread of infection and also so that partners are notified, tested and appropriately treated. It is estimated that reported cases of StDs represent only 50%-80% of reportable StD infections in the United States, reflecting limited screening and low disease reporting. High-risk sexual behavior is a highly contributive factor of this process as it often leads to teenage pregnancies and HIV/AIDS. One possible explanation for this behavior is that people do not have enough information about the transmission of StDs or ignore the precautions required for safe sex. Approximately 60% of new HIV infections worldwide occur in young people. the frequency of high-risk behaviors among youths may also be influenced by opportunity to engage in them, particularly the amount of time that they are unsupervised by adults. However, in diagnosing and treating these patients, we can effectively prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. Individuals infected with StDs are 5-10 times more likely than uninfected individuals to acquire or transmit HIV through sexual contact. the breaking of the genital tract lining or skin creates a portal of entry for HIV and, hence, HIV-infected individuals with other StDs are more likely to shed HIV in their genital secretions. t

Payment schemes for environmental services face serious budget constraints in Mexico. Payments are equally distributed among forest owners, and the governmental agencies that make payments to beneficiaries do not evaluate the amount of environmental services produced by forested areas. this lack of evaluation could lead to economic and environmental deficiencies that restrict the possible benefits of such programmes. In general, these programmes do not achieve their conservation objectives, and local beneficiaries are not involved in the design or application of these programmes. Similarly, the Payments for Hydrological Environmental Services(PHES) programme of the State of Mexico, Mexico, makes equal payments to beneficiaries of forested areas considering tree density. the objective of the present work was to create a methodology for determining differentiated payments schemes for hydrological environmental services, prioritising areas that contribute the most to groundwater recharge and promote the participation of society. In the Nevado de toluca Natural Protected Area, the environmental criteria of forest type, tree density and aquifer overexploitation as well as social participation were considered in a multi-criteria analysis implemented in a Geographic Information System. A methodology was developed to determine differentiated payments based on specific forest characteristics that influence the potential capacity of forests to recharge groundwater reserves in addition to the level of social participation. In particular, social participation is key as it could ensure the viability of PHES programmes as conservation alternatives in forested areas with high groundwater recharge potential.

A comprehensive thermo-economic model combining a geothermal heat mining system and a direct supercritical CO_(2) turbine expansion electric power generation system was proposed in this *** by this integrated model,thermo-economic and optimization analyses for the key design parameters of the whole system including the geothermal well pattern and operational conditions were performed to obtain a minimal levelized cost of electricity(LCOE).Specifically,in geothermal heat extraction simulation,an integrated wellbore-reservoir system model(t2Well/ECO_(2)N)was used to generate a database for creating a fast,predictive,and compatible geothermal heat mining model by employing a response surface methodology.A parametric study was conducted to demonstrate the impact of turbine discharge pressure,injection and production well distance,CO_(2) injection flowrate,CO_(2) injection temperature,and monitored production well bottom pressure on LCOE,system thermal efficiency,and capital *** was found that for a 100 MWe power plant,a minimal LCOE of$0.177/kWh was achieved for a 20-year steady operation without considering CO_(2) sequestration *** addition,when CO_(2) sequestration credit is$1.00/t,an LCOE breakeven point compared to a conventional geothermal power plant is achieved and a breakpoint for generating electric power generation at no cost was achieved for a sequestration credit of $2.05/t.

Conditions for the propagation of wave profiles β ＋ mδ and β ＋ mδt are presented （β is a real continuous function, m ≠ 0 is a real number and δ＇ is the derivative of the Dirac measure 5）. these results are obtained with a consistent concept of solution based on our theory of distributional products. Burgers equation ut ＋（u2/2）x = 0, the iffusionless Burgers-Fischer equation ut ＋ a（u2/2）x = ru（1 - u/k） with a, r, k being positive numbers, Leveque and Yee equation ut ＋ ux = μx（1 - u）（u - u/k） with μ ≠ 0, and some other examples are studied within such a setting. A ＂tool box＂ survey of the distributional products is also included for the sake of completeness.

this paper proposes three-dimensional(3D) non-stationary wideband circular geometry-based stochastic models(GBSMs) for high-speed train(HSt) tunnel scenarios. Considering single-bounced(SB)and multiple-bounced(MB) components from the tunnel’s internal surfaces, a theoretical channel model is first established. then, the corresponding simulation model is developed using the method of equal volume(MEV)to calculate discrete angular parameters. Based on the proposed 3D GBSMs, important time-variant statistical properties are investigated, such as the temporal autocorrelation function(ACF), spatial cross-correlation function(CCF), and space-Doppler(SD) power spectrum density(PSD). Results indicate that all statistical properties of the simulation model, verified by simulation results, can match well those of the theoretical *** statistical properties of the proposed 3D GBSMs are further validated by relevant measurement data,demonstrating the flexibility and utility of our proposed tunnel GBSMs.
