Cell replacement therapy has long been proposed as a treatment for the damaged nervous system.One of the most challenging aspects of such a strategy,however,is finding sources of donor cells for transplantation.Autologous neural cells are rarely an option as every cell in the nervous system has a defined function that would be lost if that cell was to be removed.One possibility would be sourcing precursor or differentiated cells from fetal tissues;however,aside from ethical issues,heterologous cells are at risk of immunological rejection in the long term.Methodological improvements over the past 15 years have led to the possibility that autologous non-neural cells could be used for cell transplantation through their conversion into neural derivatives.

A small health center is located in Velingara,Senegal.It is approximately 7 o'clock in the morning.In the old,dusty room that constitutes the operating room,a soft beeping sound,like that of a kettle,begins to be heard between the rhythmic beats of the heart monitor.The oxygen cylinder has started to leak.Calmly,one of us approaches and applies Teflon,controlling the problem.After a while,the electrical current is cut off.Undeterred,the anesthesiologist continues to hand ventilate the patient with her ambu,and we all turn on our headlamps.There is no more electric scalpel,but the activity does not stop.

Nowadays,IT systems rely mainly on artificial intelligence(AI)algorithms to process data.AI is generally used to extract knowledge from stored information and,depending on the nature of data,it may be necessary to apply different AI algorithms.In this article,a novel perspective on the use of AI to ensure the cybersecurity through the study of network traffic is presented.This is done through the construction of a two-stage cyberattack classification ensemble model addressing class imbalance following a one-vs-rest(OvR)approach.With the growing trend of cyberattacks,it is essential to implement techniques that ensure legitimate access to information.To address this issue,this work proposes a network traffic classification system for different categories based on several AI techniques.In the first task,binary models are generated to clearly differentiate each type of traffic from the rest.With binary models generated,an ensemble model is developed in two phases,which allows the separation of legitimate and illegitimate traffic(phase 1)while also identifying the type of illegitimate traffic(phase 2).In this way,the proposed system allows a complete multiclass classification of network traffic.The estimation of global performance is done using a modern dataset(UNSW-NB15),evaluated using two approaches and compared with other state-of-art works.Our proposal,based on the construction of a two-step model,reaches an F1 of 0.912 for the first level of binary classification and 0.7754 for the multiclass classification.These results show that the proposed system outperforms other state-of-the-art approaches(+0.75%and+3.54%for binary and multiclass classification,respectively)in terms of F1,as demon-strated through comparison together with other relevant classification metrics.

Starting from the last decade of the 90`s mobile phone makes its appearance in the world markets, in Mexico it`s also on that date that the first companies are formed, today there are only four mobile companies that compete strongly for the Mexican market, In this article we use the logistic model (S – shaped logistic curve), which describes competitive environments, especially for the popularization of new technologies, to describe the dynamics of the telecommunications sector in Mexico and the probability of the companies to fail and disappear in the market. In economic articles, we see more attention to the dynamics of monopolistic competition and power companies, but it is less used the study of the sales dynamics of the sector and the curves that represent it. The proposed model uses as data the total number of subscribers to mobile phone lines to generate the logistic curves of each company and the total market, in search of main points singularities and stability conditions as predictors of the extinction of technologies and the shot-down of companies in the sector.

TML:a language to specify aerial robotic missions for the framework Aerostack

Purpose–The purpose of this paper is to describe the specification language TML for adaptive mission plans that the authors designed and implemented for the open-source framework Aerostack for aerial robotics.Design/methodology/approach–The TML language combines a task-based hierarchical approach together with a more flexible representation,rule-based reactive planning,to facilitate adaptability.This approach includes additional notions that abstract programming details.The authors built an interpreter integrated in the software framework Aerostack.The interpreter was validated with flight experiments for multi-robot missions in dynamic environments.Findings–The experiments proved that the TML language is easy to use and expressive enough to formulate adaptive missions in dynamic environments.The experiments also showed that the TML interpreter is efficient to execute multi-robot aerial missions and reusable for different platforms.The TML interpreter is able to verify the mission plan before its execution,which increases robustness and safety,avoiding the execution of certain plans that are not feasible.Originality/value–One of the main contributions of this work is the availability of a reliable solution to specify aerial mission plans,integrated in an active open-source project with periodic releases.To the best knowledge of the authors,there are not solutions similar to this in other active open-source projects.As additional contributions,TML uses an original combination of representations for adaptive mission plans(i.***.task trees with original abstract notions and rule-based reactive planning)together with the demonstration of its adequacy for aerial robotics.

Provision of food and water is a widespread tool implemented around the world for the benefit of game and other wildlife,but factors affecting the use of food and water by non-target species are poorly known.We evaluated visits to feeders and water troughs by non-game species using camera-traps in two separate areas of Spain.Feeders and water troughs were either“protected”(when surrounded by more than 50%of shrubs/forest)or“open”(in the opposite case).A total of 18948 photos from 5344 camera-trapping days depicted animals,and 75 species were identified.Feeders and water troughs were visited by target species(partridges and lagomorphs,55.3%of visits)and non-target species(44.7%of visits).Among the latter,corvids were themost common(46.1%of visits),followed by rodents(26.8%),other birds(23.6%,mainly passerines),columbids(1.9%),and other species at minor percentages.The highest proportion of visiting days to feeders and water troughs was from corvids(0.173)followed by otherbirds(0.109)and rodents(0.083);the lowest proportion was recorded for columbids(0.016).Use intensity and visit frequency of water troughs tripled that recorded in feeders,and visits to open feeders/troughs were approximately twice those to protected ones.In summary:feeders and water troughs targeting small game species are also used regularly by non-target ones;they should be set close to cover to optimize their use by non-target species that are not competitors of target species(though corvids may visit them);water availability should be prioritized where drought periods are expected.

Objective:To investigate the presence of neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs) in vivo by analysing intestinal sections from experimentally Eimeria bovis-and naturally Eimeria arloingi-infected animals.Methods:Intestinal samples of Eimeria arloingi-and Eimeria bovis-infected animals were analysed by using immunohistochemical and fluorescence approach by using monoclonal antibodies.Results:Classical NET components were confirmed by co-localization of extracellular DNA being decorated with neutrophil elastase and histones in Eimeria-infected tissue samples.Here,extrusion of NETs was exclusively detected in intestinal polymorphonuclear neutrophils infiltrating Eimeria-infected sites.In vivo NETs were either found in close proximity or in direct contact to different Eimeria stages suggesting a stage-independent process.NETs were also found within the gut lumen driven by polymorphonuclear neutrophils that were contacting released oocysts.Conclusions:We postulate that NETs might play an important role in innate defence reactions in coccidiosis therefore significantly altering the outcome of infection.

Background Despite the radiological and analytical advances of the last decades,there is still a significant rate of diagnostic error in pediatric acute appendicitis.In recent years,multiple biomarkers have emerged as potential diagnostic tools.This study aimed to examine the diagnostic performance of serum interleukin-6 in pediatric acute appendicitis.Methods We conducted a systematic review of the literature that involved an extensive search in the main databases of medical bibliography(Medline,PubMed,Web of Science and SciELO).Two independent reviewers selected the relevant articles based on the previously defined inclusion and exclusion criteria.Methodological quality of the selected article was rated using the QUADAS2 index.Data extraction was performed by two independent reviewers.Results The research in the medical bibliography databases resulted in 68 articles.We removed 26 duplicates.Among the remaining 42 articles,we excluded 33 following the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Of the final 9 studies included in this review,8 provided measured serum interleukin-6 values,and all of them reported significant differences between groups,but inconsistent results regarding sensitivity and specificity.Conclusions The diagnostic performance of interleukine-6 alone for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis in children is limited.The sensitivity and specificity of interleukine-6 for the diagnosis of non-complicated acute appendicitis in the pediatric population are moderate but increased in complicated appendicitis.There seems to be a direct relationship between serum level of interleukin-6 and the hours of evolution of abdominal pain in children with acute appendicitis.The increasingly widespread use of non-operative management of acute appendicitis warrants further exploration of the classificatory potential of this marker between complicated and uncomplicated appendicitis.We consider that this may be an avenue of research to explore in the future.

In recent work,we have shown that cell senescence of mouse fibroblasts in vitro associates with a build-up of cryptic exons in selected mRNAs,whose level is usually controlled by the activity of TAR DNA binding protein of 43 kDa(Tdp-43)(Torres et al.,2022).In vivo,we also found traits of cell senescence in the motor neuron disease model achieved by overexpressing SOD-G93A,the SOD1 gene(harboring a single amino acid substitution of glycine to alanine at codon 93).
