Cytochrome P450 monooxygenases(P450s)play crucial roles in the oxyfunctionalization of non-activated hydrocarbons,thus bridging the gap between simple molecules and high value-added fine *** introduction of P450s into artificially designed cascade reactions provides an exciting opportunity to accomplish challenging reactions and access organic compounds that cannot be achieved by traditional chemical catalysts or by natural metabolic *** main objective of this review is to provide an overview of different types of artificially designed multi-step cascades in which P450s are involved as key catalysts in the biosynthesis of various organic *** different efforts include in vitro multi-enzymatic biocatalytic cascades,in vivo biocatalytic cascades as well as chemo-enzymatic hybrid ***,this work provides an overview of cascade reactions involving P450s with various potential applications for the industrial production of food,cosmetics,polymers and pharmaceuticals.

Remoras are commensal fish of various marine species,such as sharks,swordfishes,turtles,dolphins,manta rays and *** specimen of marlin sucker Remora osteochir was evaluated using computed tomography for skeletal digital reconstruction,digital radiology for general evaluation and bone counting,and the double contrast technique to distinguish coelomic *** radiographic images,it was possible to observe otoliths in the center of the neurocranium,to count 27 vertebrae,nine pairs of ribs,and to detect the presence of the hipural and epural bones near of the caudal *** double contrast images,it was possible to visualize the swim bladder,gills,heart,liver,stomach and *** the tomographic images and reconstructions,it was possible to identify the intercalar bones of the cephalic disc;the spine with vertebral bodies composed of neural arches and ventral ribs;and the pectoral girdle formed by posttemporal,cleithrum and scapulocoracoid *** was concluded that digital radiology and computed tomography were able to describe anatomical structures of marlin sucker *** without the need for dissection.

The smart grid is the next generation of power and distribution systems. The integration of advanced network, communications, and computing techniques allows for the enhancement of efficiency and reliability. The smart grid interconnects the flow of information via the power line, intelligent metering, renewable and distributed energy systems, and a monitoring and controlling infrastructure. For all the advantages that these components come with, they remain at risk to a spectrum of physical and digital attacks. This paper will focus on digital vulnerabilities within the smart grid and how they may be exploited to form full fledged attacks on the system. A number of countermeasures and solutions from the literature will also be reported, to give an overview of the options for dealing with such problems. This paper serves as a triggering point for future research into smart grid cyber security.

A new process to produce magnetite partially coated with strawberry-like gold nanoparticles in aqueous media is reported. The fast response to magnetic fields and optical properties of gold nanoparticle-based colloidal systems are the two main advantages of this new Fe@Au nanomaterial. These advantages allow for the use of this new colloidal nanomaterial for various purposes in proteomics and biomedicine, as proteins can bind to the surface, and the surface can also be funcfionalized. As proof-of-concept, the new Fe@Au nanoparticles have been assessed in biomarker discovery as a tool for pre-concentration and separation of proteins from complex proteomes. To this end, sera from healthy people were compared with sera from patients diagnosed with multiple myeloma. The application of this new Fe@Au nanomaterial combined with mass spectrometry has allowed for the identification of 53 proteins, and it has also shown that the heat shock protein HSP75 and the plasma protease C1 inhibitor are potential biomarkers for diagnostics and control of multilvle mveloma vro^ression.

Background: We currently have international and national guidelines regarding the assessment and monitoring of clinical signs and humane endpoints in animals used in teaching and research, which make the performance of these activities mandatory for any experiment and professional working in this area. Assigning the severity of a research experiment is the result of an analysis of records of observations of the animal’s behavior, and clinical signs. The aim of this study was to describe the importance of carrying out a severity assessment associated with clinical and behavioral monitoring of rodents and rabbits during experimentation to maintain the welfare of these animals undergoing scientific research. Methods: The literature search was carried out using the following terms: “Monitoring”;“Humane endpoints”;“Animal welfare”, “Rodents”;“Rabbits”, and as connectors “and”;“or”, in the following databases: PubMed;LILACS/BIREME and SciELO. Results: A total of 987 articles were identified in the databases, and 20 of these studies were included in this review. Conclusions: Humane endpoint protocols and procedure severity tables are of the utmost importance, both from an ethical point and to refine the results of research conducted on laboratory animals. They should be drawn up jointly by the teams responsible for the project and the maintenance of the animals during the research period, and the data obtained should be published so that the scientific community can have access to it, helping to disseminate these practices, as well as helping to draw up new procedures. Monitoring and evaluating the welfare and clinical condition of animals undergoing scientific research procedures is the responsibility of the professors, researchers, veterinarians, and animal facility coordinators. This work introduces a methodology to estimate coffee prices based on the use of Extreme Learning *** process is initiated by identifying the presence of nonstationary components,like seasonality and *** components are withdrawn if they are ***,the temporal lags are selected based on the response of the Partial Autocorre-lation Function *** predictors,we address the following models:Exponential Smooth-ing(ES),Autoregressive(AR)and Autoregressive Integrated and Moving Average(ARIMA)models,Multilayer Perceptron(MLP)and Extreme Learning Machines(ELMs)neural *** computational results based on three error metrics and two coffee types(Ara-bica and Robusta)showed that the neural networks,especially the ELM,can reach higher performance levels than the other *** methodology,which presents preprocess-ing stages,lag selection,and use of ELM,is a novelty that contributes to the coffee prices forecasting field.

The right of access to water,as well as the right to its equitable and reasonable use are fundamental human ***,these are frequently conditioned by human activity(***)and natural phenomena(***,floods),which points to a necessity of developing proper models of transboundary water management and active cooperation that take into consideration not only socioeonomic and political aspects but that also address environmental *** situation is particularly worrying in Africa and Asia,where socieconomic vulnerability and risk of conflict tend to be the highest,but also very concerning for European countries,especially Portugal and Spain which are increasingly affected by *** thesis analyses the evolution of water cooperation between these two countries under the bilateral 1998 Albufeira *** is shown how important have international agreements been in the adoption and implementation of this Convention,particularly global conventions and EU water policy—namely the Water Framework *** is done always taking into account the unique conditions and factors of the national,regional and international *** terms of outcomes and impacts,it is argued that cooperation between both countries generated substantial benefits,such as more economic efficiency in the use of water,more preparedness and coordination in cases of floods and pollution accidents,and increased governance *** many ambitious environmental objectives were not fully met or have even deteriorated between different reporting *** results are followed by a discussion on several factors favouring cooperation,such as the dynamics of supranational and subnational regionalism,and several factors hindering cooperation,such as excessive centralization or excessive decentralization.
