Experimental evaluation of mechanical compression of lattice trusses made with Ti6Al4V for aerospace use

Lattice structures are three-dimensional structures composed of repeated geometrical shapes with multiple interconnected nodes,providing high strength-to-weight ratios,customizable properties,and efficient use of materials.A smart use of materials leads to reduced fuel co.sumption and lower operating costs,making them highly desirable for aircraft ***,the customizable properties of lattice structures allow for tailoring to specific design requirements,leading to improved performance and safety for *** advantages make lattice structures an important focus for research and development in the aviation *** paper presents an experimental evaluation of the mechanical compression properties of lattice trusses made with Ti6Al4V,designed for use in an anti-ice *** truss structures were manufactured using additive manufacturing techniques and tested under compressive loads to determine mechanical *** showed that lattice trusses exhibited high levels of compressive strength,making them suitable for use in applications where mechanical resistance and durability are critical,such as in anti-ice *** also highlight the potential of additive manufacturing techniques for the fabrication of lattice trusses with tailored mechanical *** study provides valuable insights into the mechanical behavior of Ti6Al4V lattice trusses and their potential applications in anti-ice systems,as well as other areas where high strength-to-weight ratios are *** results of this research contribute to the development of lightweight,efficient,and durable anti-ice systems for use in aviation and other industries.

To the Editor: As we all know, even with the current advancements regarding novel chemotherapy regimens, patients affected by pancreatic cancer(PC) have an extremely dismal prognosis(5-year survival rate 12% for all stages in the National Cancer Institute SEER database). Among the patients undergoing surgical treatment, the prognosis is mostly affected by recurrence. PC after surgery has mainly four patterns of recurrence, isolated or variously associated with each other: local, lymph nodal, peritoneal or distant(liver, lung, other sites).

Witness for resolution: post-conflict quadratic affiliation in semi-free ranging pigs

In social mammals,post-conflict resolution can involve the reunion of former opponents(reconciliation),spontaneous/solicited post-conflict affliation of a third party with either opponent(triadic contacts),and affiliation between other individuals(hereafter bystanders;quadratic contacts).Quadratic contacts-possibly informing complex cognitive abilities-have been neglected in post-conflict *** investi-gated quadratic affliation in semi-free ranging pigs Sus scrofa,at the ethical farm Parva-Domus(Cavagnolo,Italy).Kinship was *** collected behavioral data on adult pigs(n=104)via video recordings(43 h)followed by video *** and anxiety behaviors between bystanders were collected under post-conflict(PC;following a conflict between non-bystanders)and matched-control(MC;no conflict)*** affiliation was present in pigs,as bystanders affliated more in PC than MC,and such affiliation was followed by a decrease in the anxiety behaviors of both the interacting ***,quadratic contacts may be partly aimed at reducing one's own anxiety(intrinsic regulation).Quadratic affiliation was highest between closely related bystanders,which suggests that such affiliation may be most effective when close kin is *** affiliation was lowest after reconciliation and spontaneous triadic *** suggests that direct peacemaking between opponents and spontaneous triadic contacts with close kin may most likely replace quadratic ***,pigs can be influenced by the negative events that affect other pigs-but not themselves-and their response may be modulated by social *** non-random quadratic affiliation may point toward the presence of elements of social appraisal abilities inpigs.

Current status of magnetic resonance imaging radiomics in hepatocellular carcinoma:A quantitative review with Radiomics Quality Score

BACKGRoUND Radiomics is a promising tool that may increase the value of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)for different tasks related to the management of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).However,its implementation in clinical practice is still far,with many issues related to the methodological quality of radiomic *** To systematically review the current status of MRI radiomic studies concerning HCC using the Radiomics Quality Score(RQS).METHoDS A systematic literature search of PubMed,Google Scholar,and Web of Science databases was performed to identify original articles focusing on the use of MRI radiomics for HCC management published between 2017 and *** methodological quality of radiomic studies was assessed using the RQS ***’s correlation(ρ)analysis was performed to explore if RQS was correlated with journal metrics and characteristics of the *** level of statistical significance was set at Pone hundred and twenty-seven articles were included,of which 43 focused on HCC prognosis,39 on prediction of pathological findings,16 on prediction of the expression of molecular markers outcomes,18 had a diagnostic purpose,and 11 had multiple *** mean RQS was 8±6.22,and the corresponding percentage was 24.15%±15.25%(ranging from 0.0% to 58.33%).RQS was positively correlated with journal impact factor(IF;ρ=0.36,P=2.98×10^(-5)),5-years IF(ρ=0.33,P=1.56×10^(-4)),number of patients included in the study(ρ=0.51,Pof radiomics features extracted in the study(ρ=0.59,Pof publication(ρ=-0.23,PoNCLUSIoN Although MRI radiomics in HCC represents a promising tool to develop adequate personalized treatment as a noninvasive approach in HCC patients,our study revealed that studies in this field still lack the quality required to allow its introduction into clinical practice.

Breeding phase and outcome determine space use in European rollers Coracias garrulus prior to migration

The breeding period is a demanding and time-constrained phase for migratory bird *** outcome and duration can interact with the extent and duration of post-breeding movements,resulting in individual differences in space use ultimately influencing later stages of the annual *** present space-use and home range estimates during the breeding season for 21 European rollers Coracias garrulus tracked between 2018 and 2022,in Italy and *** high-resolution spatial GPS data coupled with regular nest-box monitoring,we analyzed dif-ferences in space use during the incubation/nestling period versus post-breeding period prior to migration,accounting for the breeding outcome(successful ***).We found that adult movements were strongly reduced during the first phase,whereas increased in the post-breeding phase,especially for failed *** breeders remained in the surroundings of the nest site,whereas unsuccessful ones tended to abandon the nest and visit distant areas(up to 500 km)for long periods(60.5±6.2 days).Breeding outcome did not influence the departure date of autumn migration,suggesting that failed breeders used this period for exploratory movements but not for advancing the onset of *** exploratory movements may be functional to prospect and inform settlement decisions in failed breeders in search of new breeding opportunities and may be particularly important in migratory species,which generally have a limited period to gather information prior to autumn *** study demonstrates the need to investigate seasonal movements in different populations and the potential importance of pros-pectingpost-breeding movements for long-distance migratory species.

Metal-halide perovskites are revolutionizing the world of X-ray detectors,due to the development of sensitive,fast,and cost-effective ***-powered operation,ensuring portability and low power co.sumption,has also been recently demonstrated in both bulk materials and thin ***,the signal stability and repeatability under continuous X-ray exposure has only been tested up to a few hours,often reporting degradation of the detection *** it is shown that self-powered direct X-ray detectors,fabricated starting from a FAPbBr_(3)submicrometer-thick film deposition onto a mesoporous Tio_(2)scaffold,can withstand a 26-day uninterrupted X-ray exposure with negligible signal loss,demonstrating ultra-high operational stability and excellent *** structural modification is observed after irradiation with a total ionizing dose of almost 200 Gy,revealing an unexpectedly high radiation hardness for a metal-halide perovskite thin *** addition,trap-assisted photoconductive gain enabled the device to achieve a record bulk sensitivity of 7.28 C Gy^(−1)cm^(−3)at 0 V,an unprecedented value in the field of thin-film-based photoconductors and photodiodes for“hard”***,prototypal validation under the X-ray beam produced by a medical linear accelerator for cancer treatment is also introduced.
