Is autoimmune hepatitis a frequent finding among HCV patients with intense interface hepatitis?

AIm:To evaluate the overlap of autoimmune hepatitis in hepatitis C virus(HCV)-infected patients with intense interface ***:Among 1759 patients with hepatitis C submitted to liver biopsy,92(5.2%) presented intense interface *** patients were evaluated regarding the presence of antinuclear antibody(ANA),anti-smooth muscle antibody(SmA) and anti-liver/kidney microsomal antibody(LKm-1),levels of γ-globulin and histological findings related to autoimmune hepatitis(plasma cell infiltrate and presence of rosettes).RESULTS:Among patients with hepatitis C and intense interface hepatitis there was a low prevalence of autoantibodies(ANA=12%,SmA=5%,LKm-1=0%) and the m.dian γ-globulin level was within the normal *** histological findings of autoimmune disease were observed in only two cases(2%).After applying the score for diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis,only one patient was classified with a definitive diagnosis of autoimmune *** overlap with autoimmune hepatitis was not the explanation for the intense necroinflammatory activity in patients with chronic hepatitis C we sought to identify the variables associated with this *** presence of intense interface hepatitis was associated with more advanced age,both at the time of infection and at the time of the biopsy,and higher prevalence of blood transfusion and alcohol ***:Although possible,overlap with autoimmune hepatitis is a very rare association in HCV-infected patients with intense interface hepatitis,an unusual presentation which seems to be related to other host variables.

Zika virus (ZIKV), a mosquito-borne flavivirus, has been associated with benign infections for decades. However, it has become a public health concern due to its association with severe fetal and neurological complications. Although many efforts have been m.de to control ZIKV infection, approved vaccines or antiviral drugs are still lacking. Consequently, the development of new effective anti-ZIKV agents is urgently needed. In this context, we investigated the antiviral potential of pyrazolone derivatives against ZIKV replication using in silico and in vitro methods. The four pyrazolone derivatives evaluated (1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d) inhibited over 50% of ZIKV replication with low cytotoxicity. Among them, compound 1b exhibited the most potent activity (EC50 = 4.3 μm) and the highest selectivity (SI = 342). mechanism of action studies indicated that these compounds act at early stages of virus replication, and compound 1b can also directly inactivate ZIKV particles. molecular docking studies suggested that these compounds can bind to and block the activity of ZIKV NS5 methyltransferase. Finally, pharmacokinetic and toxicological predictions have reinforced the safety and drug-like profiles of these derivatives. In conclusion, the pyrazolone scaffold proved to be valuable for anti-ZIKV drug development, and the derivatives studied deserve further investigation.

Leaf development has been extensively studied on a genetic level. However, little is known about the inter- play between the developmental regulators and the cell cycle machinery--a link that ultimately affects leaf form and size. miR319 is a conserved microRNA that regulates TCP transcription factors involved in multiple developmental pathways, including leaf development and senescence, organ curvature, and hormone biosynthesis and signaling. Here, we analyze the participation of TCP4 in the control of cell proliferation. A small increase in TCP4 activity has an imm.diate impact on leaf cell number, by significantly reducing cell proliferation. Plants with high TCP4 levels have a strong reduction in the expression of genes known to be active in G2-m phase of the cell cycle. Part of these effects is m.diated by induction of miR396, which represses Growth-Regulating Factor （GRF） transcription factors. detailed analysis revealed TCP4 to be a direct regulator of mIR396b. However, we found that TCP4 can control cell proliferation through additional pathways, and we identified a direct connection between TCP4 and ICK1/KRP1, a gene involved in the progression of the cell cycle. Our results show that TCP4 can activate different pathways that repress cell proliferation.

In situ and operando infrared spectroscopies are powerful techniques to support the design of novel materials for batteries and the development of new battery *** techniques can support the study of batteries by identifying the formation of new species and monitoring electrochemical energy ***,few works have employed these techniques,which can be used to investigate various materials,including systems beyond lithium-ion technology,in the research of ***,this review presents a comprehensive overview focusing on the main contributions of in situ and operando infrared spectroscopy for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)and other battery *** techniques can successfully identify the formation of species during the electrolyte reduction,electrode degradation,and the formation of the solid-electrolyte interphase(SEI)*** these outcomes,it is possible to conclude that this characterization approach should be employed as a protocol to overcome remaining issues in batteries,consequently supporting battery *** review aims to be a guide on how infrared spectroscopy can contribute to monitoring battery systems and to lead researchers interested in applying this technique.

dear Editor, The tropical plant m.dagascar periwinkle Catharanthus roseus （L.） *** is a rich source of plant-derived m.dicinal ter-penoid indole alkaloids （TIAs）, including the anti-hypertensive ajmalicine, the sedative compound serpentine, and the anti-cancer drugs vinblastine and vincristine. However, the latter two compounds are produced in C. roseus plants only in very low amounts. Elicitors such as hormones （e.g. jasmonates or salicylic acid） activate plant natural defense responses, includ-ing increased secondary metabolite production （EI-Sayed and Verpoorte, 2007; Lackman et al.. 2011）.
