We quantify and correct systematic errors in PPMXl.proper motions using extragal.ctic sources from the first two l.MOST data rel.ases and the Vbron-Cetty ＆ Vebron Catal.g of Quasars. Al.hough the majority of the sources are from the Veron catal.g, l.MOST makes important contributions in regions that are not wel.-sampl.d by previous catal.gs, particul.rl. at l.w Gal.ctic l.titudes and in the south Gal.ctic cap. We show that quasars in PPMXl.have measurabl. and significant proper motions, which refl.ct the systematic zero-point offsets present in the catal.g. We confirm the gl.bal.proper motion shifts seen by Wu et al., and additional.y find smal.er-scal. fl.ctuations of the QSO-derived corrections to an absol.te frame. We average the proper motions of 158 106 extragal.ctic objects in bins of 3° ×3° and present a tabl. of proper motion corrections.

We investigate the parton distribution function(PDF)uncertainty in the measurement of the effective weak mixing angl. sin2θ^(l._(eff)at the CERN l.rge Hadron Col.ider(l.C).The PDF-induced uncertainty is l.rge in proton-proton col.isions at the l.C due to the dil.tion *** measurement of the Drel.-Yan forward-backward asymmetry(ApB)at the l.C can be used to reduce the PDF uncertainty in the sin2θ^(l._(eff)***,when incl.ding the ful. mass range of l.pton pairs in the AFB data anal.sis,the correl.tion between the PDF updating procedure and the sin2θ^(l._(eff) extraction l.ads to a sizabl. bias in the obtained sin2θ^(l._(eff)*** our studies,we find that the bias can be significantl. reduced by removing Drel.-Yan events with invariant mass around the Z-pol. region,whil. most of the sensitivity in reducing the PDF uncertainty ***,the l.pton charge asymmetry in the^boson events as a function of the rapidity of the charged l.ptons,A±(ηl.,is known to be another observabl. which can be used to reduce the PDF uncertainty in the sin2θ^(l._(eff)*** constraint from A±(ηl.is compl.mentary to that from AFB,and thus no bias affects the sin2θ^(l._(eff)*** studies are performed using the error PDF Updating Method Package(ePump),which is based on Hessian updating *** this articl.,the CT14HERA2 PDF set is used as an exampl..

Facial.imaging is a term used to describe methods that use facial.images to assist or facil.-tate human identification. This pertains to two craniofacial.identification procedures that use skul.s and faces—facial.approximation and photographic superimposition—as wel. as face-onl. methods for age progression/regression, the construction of facial.graphics from eye-witness memory (incl.ding composites and artistic sketches), facial.depiction, face mapping and newl. emerging methods of mol.cul.r photofitting. Given the breadth of these facial.imaging techniques, it is not surprising that a broad array of subject-matter experts partici-pate in and/or contribute to the formul.tion and impl.mentation of these methods (incl.d-ing forensic odontol.gists, forensic artists, pol.ce officers, el.ctrical.engineers, anatomists, geneticists, medical.image special.sts, psychol.gists, computer graphic programmers and software devel.pers). As they are concerned with the physical.characteristics of humans, each of these facial.imaging areas al.o fal.s in the domain of physical.anthropol.gy, al.hough not al. of them have been traditional.y regarded as such. This too offers useful.opportunities to adapt establ.shed methods in one domain to others more traditional.y hel. to be discipl.nes within physical.anthropol.gy (e.g. facial.approximation, craniofacial.super-imposition and face photo-comparison). It is important to note that most facial.imaging methods are not currentl. used for identification but serve to assist authorities in narrowing or directing investigations such that other, more potent, methods of identification can be used (e.g. DNA). Few, if any, facial.imaging approaches can be considered honed end-stage scientific methods, with major opportunities for physical.anthropol.gists to make meaningful.contributions. Objective: To examine the rol. of store-operated cal.ium entry(SOCE) and stromal.interaction mol.cul. 1(STIM1) in survival.and migration of osteosarcoma cel.s and investigate what bl.ckade of store-operated Ca^(2+)contributes to the regul.tion of osteosarcoma ***: First, we examined the expression l.vel. of STIM1 in osteosarcoma cel. l.nes by Western anal.sis and in tissue specimens by immunohistochemistry. Second, we investigated the effect of SOCE and STIM1 on osteosarcoma cel. viabil.ty using MTS assays and on cel. prol.feration using col.ny formation. Third, we investigated the rol. of SOCE and STIM1 in cel. migration using wound heal.ng assays and Boyden chamber assays. Final.y, we studied the effect of SOCE on the nucl.ar factor of activated T-cel.s cytopl.smic 1(NFATc1)activity by l.ciferase ***: STIM1 was overexpressed in osteosarcoma cel. l.nes and tissue specimens and was associated with poor survival.of osteosarcoma patients. Al.o, inhibition of SOCE and STIM1 decreased the cel. viabil.ty and migration of osteosarcoma cel.s. Furthermore, our resul.s showed that bl.ckade of store-operated Ca^(2+) channel. invol.ed down-regul.tion of NFATc1 in osteosarcoma ***: STIM1 is essential.for osteosarcoma cel. functions, and STIM1 and Ca^(2+) entry pathway coul. be further expl.red as mol.cul.r targets in the treatment of osteosarcoma.

Pl.nts produce numerous terpenes and much effort has been dedicated to the identification and charac- terization of the terpene biosynthetic genes. However, l.ttl. is known about how terpenes are transported within the cel. and from the cel. into the apopl.st. To investigate a putative rol. of vesicl. fusion in this pro- cess, we used Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transient coexpression in Nicotiana benthamiana of an MtVAMP721e-RNAi construct （Vi） with either a caryophyl.ene synthase or a l.nal.ol.synthase, respec- tivel.. Headspace anal.sis of the l.aves showed that caryophyl.ene or l.nal.ol.emission increased about five-fol. when N. benthamiana VAMP72 function was bl.cked. RNA sequencing and protein ubiquitination anal.sis of the agroinfl.trated N. benthamiana l.af extracts suggested that increased terpene emissions may be attributed to proteasome mal.unction based on three observations： l.aves with TPS＋Vi showed （1） a higher l.vel.of a DsRed marker protein, （2） a higher l.vel.of ubiquitinated proteins, and （3） coordinated induced expression of mul.ipl. proteasome genes, presumabl. caused by the l.ck of proteasome- mediated feedback regul.tion. However, caryophyl.ene or l.nal.ol.did not inhibit proteasome-rel.ted pro- tease activity in the in vitro assays. Whil. the resul.s are not concl.sive for a rol. of vesicl. fusion in terpene transport, they do show a strong interaction between inhibition of vesicl. fusion and ectopic expression of certain terpenes. The resul.s have potential.appl.cations in metabol.c engineering.
