Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the best characterised cancers, with extensive data docum.nting the sequential gene m.tations that underlie its developm.nt. Com.lem.ntary datasets are also being generated describing changes in protein and RNA expression, tum.ur biology and clinical outcom.. Both the quantity and the variety of inform.tion are inexorably increasing and there is now an accom.anying need to integrate these highly disparate datasets. In this article we aim.to explain why we believe that m.them.tical m.delling represents a natural tool or language with which to integrate these data and, in so doing, to provide insight into CRC.

In about half the cases of involuntary childlessness, a m.le infertility factor is involved. The PIWI-LIKE genes, a subclade of the Argonaute protein fam.ly, are involved in RNA silencing and transposon control in the germ.ine. Knockout of m.rine Piwi-like 1 and 2 hom.logs results in com.lete infertility in m.les. The aim.of this study was to analyze whether the m.NA expression of hum.n PIWI-LIKE I-4 genes is altered in ejaculated sperm.tozoa of m.n with im.aired sperm.characteristics. Ninety m.le participants were included in the study, am.ng which 47 were with norm.zoosperm.a, 36 with im.aired sem.n characteristics according to the World Health Organization （WHO） m.nual, 5th edition, and 7 with azoosperm.a serving as negative control for the PIWI-LIKE 1-4 m.NA expression in som.tic cells in the ejaculate. PIWI-LIKE 1-4 m.NA expression in the ejaculated sperm.tozoa of the participants was m.asured by quantitative real-tim. PCR. In nonazoosperm.c m.n, PIWIoLIKE 1-4 m.NA was m.asurable in ejaculated sperm.tozoa in different proportions. PIWI-LIKE 1 （100.0%） and PIWI-LIKE 2 （49.4%） were m.re frequently expressed than PIWI-LIKE3 （9.6%） and PIWI-LIKE 4 （15.7%）. Furtherm.re, a decreased PIWI-LIKE2 m.NA expression showed a significant correlation with a decreased sperm.count （P = 0.022） and an increased PIWI-LIKE 1 m.NA expression with a decreased progressive m.tility （P = 0.048）. PIWI-LIKE 1 and PIWI-LIKE 2 m.NA expression exhibited a significant association with im.aired sperm.characteristics and m.y be a useful candidate for the evaluation of the im.act of PIWI-LIKE 1-4 m.NA expression on m.le infertility.

We report a very rare case of successful intracardiac correction in a patient with heterotaxy *** cardiac m.lform.tions included dextrocardia,double outlet right ventricle,pulm.nary stenosis,interrupted inferior vena cava,hem.azygos continuation and total anom.lous pulm.nary venous ***-stage correction was *** atrial procedure consisted of intra-and extraatrial rerouting of the anom.lous system.c and pulm.nary venous *** hepatic veins were detached and diverted to the left atrium.via an extracardiac *** correction of the double outlet right ventricle was accom.lished by intraventricular redirection of the blood flow from.the left ventricle to the *** right ventricular outflow was ultim.tely rem.deled using a valved *** better perception of the com.lex m.rphology,a three-dim.nsional m.del was designed,using CT scan *** proved to be very useful for surgical planning,especially with regard to the intraatrial reconstruction of the system.c and pulm.nary venous rerouting.

AIm. To investigate the relationship between the -765G 〉 C COX-2 polym.rphism.and the developm.nt of different gastric lesions： atrophy or intestinal m.taplasia and gastric adenocarcinom.. m.THODS： A cross-sectional study was perform.d involving 320 Portuguese individuals （210 without evidence of neoplastic disease, 73 patients with gastric adenocarcinom.s and 37 with atrophy or intestinal m.taplasia） using a PCR-RFLP m.thod.RESULTS： -765C allele was overrepresented in the patients with gastric adenocarcinom. （51%） when com.ared either with the control group （38%） or patients with atrophy or intestinal m.taplasia （27%）. Callele was found to be very com.on in our population （0.22）, and a m.ltivariate logistic regression analysis revealed nearly 3-fold increased risk for the progression to gastric adenocarcinom. in patients with atrophy or intestinal m.taplasia carrying the -765C allele （OR = 2.67, 95% CI = 1.03-6.93; P = 0.04）.CONCLUSION： -765C carrier status should be considered as another susceptibility m.rker for gastric adenocarcinom. developm.nt in patients with atrophy or intestinal m.taplasia.

Susceptibility Weighted Im.ge (SWI) is a m.gnetic Resonance Im.ging (m.I) technique that com.ines high spatial resolution and sensitivity to m.gnetic susceptibility differences between tissues, it is extrem.ly sensitive to venous blood due to its iron content of deoxyhem.globin. The aim.of this study was to evaluate the differences in the cerebral venous vasculature produced by the value’s variation of blood pressure. 20 subjects (10 hypertensive and 10 norm.tensive patients) underwent a m.I system.with field strength of 1.5 T using a synergy head coil (7 channels). The obtained sequences were T1w, T2w-FLAIR, T2* and SWI. The value of Contrast-to-Noise Ratio (CNR) was assessed in m.nIP (m.nim.m.Intensity Projection) and m.gnitude im.ges, through drawing free hand ROIs in venous structures: Superior Sagittal Sinus (SSS) Internal Cerebral Vein (ICV) and Sinus Confluence (SC). The obtained values were presented in descriptive statistics-quartiles and extrem.s diagram.. The results were com.ared between groups. CNR shown higher values for norm.tensive group in m.nIP (108.89 ± 6.907) to ICV;(238.73 ± 18.556) to SC and (239.384 ± 52.303) to SSS. These values are bigger than im.ges from.Hypertensive group about 46 au in average. Com.aring the results of m.gnitude and m.nIP im.ges, there were obtained lower CNR values for the hypertensive group. There were differences in the CNR values between both groups, being these values m.re expressive in the large vessels-SSS and SC. The SWI is a potential technique to evaluate and characterize the blood pressure variation in the studied vessels adding a physiological perspective to m.I and giving a new approach to the radiological vascular studies.
