Ectonucleotidases are enzymes involved in nucleotides metabolism. The amount of.circulating nucleotides may modulate distinct pathophysiological processes in the vasculature, including platelet aggregation and vascular tone. Onion (Allium cepa L.) phenolic compounds modulate enzymatic activity. The present study evaluated the total phenolic content of.red onion methanolic extract, its antioxidant capacity, and its ability to interf.re in nucleotides hydrolyses in rat serum. Total phenolic content was determined with the f.lin-Ciocalteau reagent using gallic acid as a standard, while total f.avonoid content was obtained through the aluminum chloride colorimetric method with quercetin as a standard. Antioxidant capacity was evaluated f.om the ability of.the extract to scavenge ABTS·+ and DPPH· radicals. ATP, ADP, AMP, and p-Nph-5'-TMP hydrolyses were colorimetrically determined in response to dif.erent onion extract concentrations (0, 125, 250, 500, or 1000 μg/mL). Phenolic content of.the extract was 54.35 mg GAE 100 g-1 sample, while f.avonoid content was 7.22 mg quercetin g-1 sample. The IC50 value f.r ABTS·+ was 374.13 ± 7.52 μg/mL, while it was 440.29 ± 15.17 μg/mL f.r DPPH·. Red onion extract increased ADP and p-Nph-5'-TMP hydrolysis. The results conf.rmed that red onion contains high content of.antioxidant, mainly f.avonoids, and high antioxidant capacity. Additionally, biochemical studies suggest that the increased ADP breakdown may be important to regulate vascular processes. As it occurs f.r other enzymes, the antioxidant capacity of.onion extract may neutralize reactive oxygen species (ROS) f.rmation and f.vor ectonucleotidase activity and the hydrolysis of.ADP, a major platelet agonist.

The objective of.this work is to understand how the process of.co-creation occurs within the creative industry of.video games. f.r this, concepts of.the creative industry, co-creation, inf.rmation and communication technologies (ICTs) and innovation were studied. Since this is an exploratory and qualitative research, a single case study was chosen as a method. The analysis was done in a Brazilian company that develops games f.r mobile devices. The results show that the consumer (gamer) participates in value creation in the company’s products, mainly in the initial production stages. In the later phases, af.er the launch and other steps of.the lif. cycle, although there is a relationship with the users, the joint creation of.value is little explored by the organization. Also, it was verif.ed that the co-creation process is supported by dif.erent inf.rmation and communication tools, which provide agility to the process.

Background: A healthy normal skin is essential f.r a person’s physical and mental well being. It is an important aspect of.their sexual attractiveness, a sense of.well being and a sense of.self.conf.dence. Vitiligo is an acquired depigmentation disorder of.skin af.ecting 1% - 4% of.the world population. Neither lif. threatening nor symptomatic (except that depigmented patches burn easily when exposed to the sun) the ef.ects of.vitiligo can be cosmetically and psychologically devastating. Because the disease is still not understood, there is a plethora of.dif.erent treatments approaches, but they are largely unsatisf.ctory f.om patient’s perspective. Objective: To report the outcomes f.om oral use of.an inf.sion of.leaves of.Solanum paniculatum L., Jacaranda brasiliensis and Sonchus oleraceus f.r treatment of.vitiligo. Ethical issues: Study approved by the Research Ethics Committee of.Hospital f.deral dos Servidores do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (CAAE: 32143314.9.0000.5252). All participants conf.rmed the condition of.volunteer by signing the Inf.rmed Consent f.rm. Methods: f.om October 2014 to October 2015 twelve subjects consumed daily f.ur glasses (800 ml) of.proposed phytotherapeutic preparation. Results: All subjects were highly satisf.ed about their outcomes. Total depigmentation was considered as a positive outcome because it is cosmetically acceptable. Total depigmentation was observed in presence of.80% or more of.depigmenteted patches. Conclusions: The phytotherapeutic preparation proposed is ef.ective on treatment of.depigmenteted patches in vitiligo.

The process of.electrospinning is considered one of.the most promising methods f.r the f.brication of.poly- mer nanof.bers. This essentially consists of.applying a high electric f.eld, which causes stretching of.the polymer which exits through a capillary. Among the numerous applications of.this process, electrospinning allows the f.brication of.semiconductor and conductive nanof.bers f.om mixtures or solutions, which have great potential f.r applications in sensors and the f.brication of.scaf.olds f.r cell growth. The aim of.this work was to analyze the properties of.the blend, produces by the electrospinning of.the PCL and PLLA solu- tion, with the f.cus to generate a promissory scaf.old. PCL is a semi-crystalline aliphatic polymer that has a slower degradation rate 12 - 24 months. It has a low glass transition temperature at –60?C, a melting tem-perature at about 60?C, and a high thermal stability. Properties of.PLA depend on the component isomers, processing temperature, annealing time and molecular weight. Thus were used PCL, f.om Aldrich, with Mw of.80,000 g/mol, and PLLA, sintered in laboratory, with Mw of.240,000 g/mol, were dissolved in chlorof.rm (CHCl3, Merck) and acetone (Synth) by stirring f.r 6 hours. The solution was electrospinning f.r 1 hour us- ing the equipment made in the laboratory, the voltage used was 13 kv, the rate of.0.5 ml/h and an approxi- mate distance f.om the tip of.the needle to the collector of.12 cm. The morphology of.the samples was ob- served by images made with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and also was analyzed by f.-IR and DSC.

The identif.cation of.jets originating f.om quarks and gluons,of.en ref.rred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses perf.rmed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches f.r new particles decaying to quarks of.en rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of.the ef.iciencies of.quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of.140 f.^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high perf.rmances in rejecting jets f.om gluon over jets f.om quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of.inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon f.action in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples def.ned by the jet *** in tagging ef.iciency between data and simulation are provided f.r jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and f.r multiple tagger working points.

The appropriate nutrient supply via f.rtilization is essential f.r an adequate plant growth and development. The objective of.this study was to evaluate the structural characteristics and chlorophyll index of.Marandu and Xaraes grasses f.rtilized with wood ash. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse;the experimental design was entirely randomized, with 12 treatments and six replications arranged in a 2 × 6 f.ctorial scheme: two f.rage grasses (Marandu and Xaraes) and six wood ash doses (0;3;6;9;12;and 15 g·dm-3). Each plot was composed of.pots with 7 dm3 soil and f.ve plants. Soil moisture was maintained by the gravimetric method at 60% of.the maximum soil water retention capacity. Three harvests of.the plant aerial part were perf.rmed at 30-day intervals. The evaluated characteristics were plant height, leaf.number, tiller number, and chlorophyll index. Results were submitted to the variance analysis by f.test and, af.er verif.cation of.the signif.cant ef.ects on Marandu and Xaraes characteristics, were also submitted to Tukey test;the wood ash doses were evaluated according to the regression analysis at 5% probability. Wood ash doses ranging f.om 10.15 to 15 g·dm-3 resulted in quadratic responses of.plant height, leaf.number, and tiller number f.r both Marandu and Xaraes grasses. The highest values of.chlorophyll index derived f.om wood ash doses of.9.44 and 10.92 g·dm-3, with increments greater than 50%, 25%, and 9% at the f.rst, second, and third harvests, respectively. The wood ash, when used as a f.rtilizer, improves structural characteristics and increases chlorophyll indices of.Marandu and Xaraes grasses cultivated in Cerrado Rhodic Hapludox.

Giardia duodenalis exhibits seven assemblages (A-G) that are distributed in dif.erent hosts. The A and B assemblages are commonly f.und in humans and several mammals, while C and D assemblages are typically f.und in dogs. The purpose of.this study was to determine the assemblage of.Giardia duodenalis present in the stool samples of.ten canines using an assay based on PCR amplif.cation, restriction analysis, and sequencing of.the small subunit ribosomal DNA (SSU-rDNA), β-giardin, and triosephosphate isomerase (tpi) genes in order to establish the similarities or dif.erences between the assemblage obtained with each gene. The results indicated that all positive isolates belonged to assemblage A, and specif.cally to the sub-assemblage A-I. A comparison of.the SSU-rDNA gene sequence revealed the presence of.three subgroups of.assemblage A. These f.ndings highlight the importance of.canine transmission of.Giardia in Mexico and its genetic plasticity. They also establish a method f.r additional and more molecularly extensive epidemiological studies to improve sanitation and hygiene in the most af.ected areas.

This article describes cases of.anti-tumor necrosis f.ctor(TNf.-α-induced autoimmune hepatitis and evaluates the outcome of.these patients in relation to their immunosuppressive strategy. A retrospective analysis of.medical records was perf.rmed in our center, in order to detect cases of.autoimmune hepatitis(AIH) associated with anti-TNf.biologic agents. We describe and analyze eight cases of.AIH f.llowing anti-TNf.therapy, 7 with inf.iximab and 1 with adalimumab. A distinction should be made between induction of.autoimmunity and clinically evident autoimmune disease. Liver biopsy is usef.l in detecting the role of.the TNf.α antagonist in the development of.AIH. The lack of.relapse af.er discontinuing immunosuppressive therapy f.vors, as in this case series, an immune-mediated drug reaction as most patients with AIH have a relapse af.er treatment is suspended. Although AIH related to anti-TNf.therapy is rare, a baseline immunological panel along with liver f.nction tests should be perf.rmed in all patients with autoimmune disease bef.re starting biologics.

The stomatognathic system (SS) is a f.nctional unit of.the body that depends on the balance of.several tissues. It consists of.various structures, including the temporomandibular joint. Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) can occur due to alterations in the SS. The f.nseca Anamnestic Index (f.I) is a scale used to evaluate and to characterize the TMD Type: no DTM, mild, moderate and severe. The aim is to evaluate the prevalence of.signs and symptoms related to TMD in university students of.the Parque das Rosas Campus, Universidade Estácio de Sá that practice sports. This investigation was approved (CAAE number 325678413.9.0000.5284). Two hundred eighth students (110 male and 98 f.male, aged 19 - 35 years) accepted to be in this investigation. All the participants answered a General Questionnaire (GQ) and the f.I. The GQ had questions about the age, sex and the presence of.TMD. The f.I was used. A statistical dif.erence (p > 0.05) was not f.und about the presence of.TMD. Among the f.male, an elevated number of.the students with signal or symptoms related to the temporomandibular with statistic signif.cance (p f.this disorder is higher between male than f.male. Considering the f.I, among the f.male students, there is a prevalence of.the Mild Type. Considering the evaluation of.the type of.TMD among the male and f.male students no dif.erence was f.und between male and f.male to the types mild and moderate, however, the prevalence of.the severe Type is higher in f.male than in male with statistical signif.cance. In conclusion, TMD is a relevant clinical condition with an important prevalence among the university students. Moreover, the type of.the TMD could be considered due to prevalence of.the Type Severe among the women.
