Non-alcoholic f.tty liver disease(NAf.D)is highly prevalent in patients with diabetes mellitus and increasing evidence suggests that patients with type 2diabetes are at a particularly high risk f.r developing the progressive f.rms of.NAf.D,non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and associated advanced liver ***,diabetes is an independent risk f.ctor f.r NAf.D progression,and f.r hepatocellular carcinoma development and liver-related mortality in prospective ***,patients with NAf.D have an elevated prevalence of.*** studies have shown that NAf.D presence predicts the development of.type2 *** and NAf.D have mutual pathogenetic mechanisms and it is possible that genetic and environmental f.ctors interact with metabolic derangements to accelerate NAf.D progression in diabetic *** diagnosis of.the more advanced stages of.NAf.D in diabetic patients shares the same challenges as in non-diabetic patients and it includes imaging and serological methods,although histopathological evaluation is still considered the gold standard diagnostic *** ef.ective established treatment is not yet available f.r patients with steatohepatitis and f.brosis and randomized clinical trials including only diabetic patients are *** sought to outline the published data including epidemiology,pathogenesis,diagnosis and treatment of.NAf.D in diabetic patients,in order to better understand the interplay between these two prevalent diseases and identif. the gaps that still need to be f.lf.lled in the management of.NAf.D in patients with diabetes mellitus.

Allelopathic compounds reduce the growth and productivity of.upland rice plants, especially in consecutive plantations. The rhizobacteria Pseudomonas f.uorescens BRM-32111 and Burkholderia pyrrocinia BRM-32113 have been recorded as growth promoters in rice. This study was developed to understand the ef.ect of.the application of.rhizobacteria on upland rice plants in consecutive plantations. Experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design with f.ur replications of.f.ur treatments: rice seed inoculated with P. f.uorescens BRM-32111, rice seed inoculated with B. pyrrocinia BRM-32113(both sown on soil with rice residue), non-inoculated plants sown on soil with rice residue(control with residue(WR)), and non-inoculated plants on soil with no residue(NR). Roots and seedling growth were adversely af.ected by allelopathic compounds in control WR plants. Plants inoculated with rhizobacteria P. f.uorescens BRM-32111 or B. pyrrocinia BRM-32113 induced an increase of.88% in biomass, 3% in the leaf.area, 40% in length, 67% in root biomass, 21% in chlorophyll a, 53% in chlorophyll(a+b), 50% in rate of.carbon assimilation(A), 227% in A/rubisco carboxylation ef.iciency(Ci) and 63% in water use ef.iciency(WUE) compared to control WR plants. These results indicate that rhizobacteria P. f.uorescens BRM-32111 and B. pyrrocinia BRM-32113 increase the tolerance of.rice plants to stress f.om allelochemicals. There are possible practical agricultural applications of.these results f.r mitigating the ef.ects of.environmental allelochemistry on upland rice.

We introduce the concept of.truncated states obtained via iterative processes （TSI） and study its statistical f.atures, making an analogy with dynamical systems theory （DST）. As a specif.c example, we have studied TSI f.r the doubling and the logistic f.nctions, which are standard f.nctions in studying chaos. TSI f.r both the doubling and logistic f.nctions exhibit certain similar patterns when their statistical f.atures are compared f.om the point of.view of.DST.

DC plasma is a very promising technology f.r processing dif.erent materials, and is becoming especially interesting when low environmental impact and high-perf.rmance treatments are needed. Some of.the intrinsic characteristics of.DC plasma technology, which make it suitable f.r powder metallurgy （PM） and powder injection molding （PIM） parts production, are low- pressure processing and plasma environment high reactivity. Moreover it can be considered as a highly competitive green technology. In this work, an overview of.some of.the important DC plasma techniques applied to PM and PIM parts processing is presented. Emphasis is given to the descriptions of.the main characteristics and the technique potentials of.plasma-assisted nitriding, plasma-assisted thermal debinding, plasma-assisted sintering, and simultaneously plasma-assisted sintering and surf.ce alloying. The aspects presented and discussed in this paper indicate that DC plasma processes are promising and competitive techniques f.r PM and PIM parts processing.

Portopulmonary Hypertension in Patients Undergoing Liver Transplantation: A Case Report

Portopulmonary hypertension (PPH) is a f.rm of.pulmonary arterial hypertension, characterized by elevation of.pulmonary arterial pressure due to increased resistance to pulmonary blood f.ow. It is a consequence of.portal hypertension, associated or not with liver disease. A retrospective study of.patients undergoing liver transplantation was carried out in the Liver Transplantation Unit of.the Clinics Hospital of.the State University of.Campinas (UNICAMP) f.om 1991 to 2012, covering 389 transplants. Although 50 (12.9%) patients presented with mean pulmonary arterial pressure (MPAP) > 25 mmHg, only one case (0.25%) met the diagnostic criteria f.r PPH: a 43-year-old f.male patient with advanced liver disease, caused by primary biliary cirrhosis with portal hypertension, diagnosed as mild portopulmonary hypertension and diagnosed in the operating room. PPH is a serious complication of.portal hypertension. It is related to the great dif.iculty in diagnosis and the high mortality rate due to right heart f.ilure. PPH is an entity with a low f.equency of.occurrence in individuals undergoing liver transplantation, although there is a wide variation in the prevalence rate presented in the literature and the def.nitive diagnosis should be conf.rmed with right heart catheterization.

The mismatch between the photovoltaic(PV)cells absorption and the solar irradiance on earth is one of.the major limitations towards more ef.icient PV energy *** aspect was addressed by downshif.ing the solar irradiance on Earth through luminescent down-shif.ing layers based on lanthanidedoped surf.ce-f.nctionalized ionosilicas(ISs)embedded in poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA)coated on the surf.ce of.commercial Si-based PV *** IS-PMMA hybrid materials exhibit ef.icient solar radiation harvesting(spectral overlap of.9.5×10^19 photons/(s·m2))and conversion(quantum yield^52%).The direct solar radiation and the down-shif.ed radiation are partially guided and lost through total internal ref.ection to the layer edges being unavailable f.r PV conversion of.the coated PV *** tuning the down-shif.ing layer thickness,it also acts as luminescent solar concentrator enabling the collection of.the guided radiation by f.exible PV cells applied on the borders of.the down-shif.ing layer leading to an enhancement of.the PV energy conversion f.om^5%(in the case of.the single-use of.the luminescent down-shif.ing layer)to^13%comparing with the bare PV *** overall electrical output of.the device resulted in an absolute external quantum ef.iciency increase of.32%f.r the optimized Eu^3+-based f.lms in the UV spectral region(compared with the bare PV device,which is among the best values reported so f.r).

In a previous work [Commun. Theor. Phys. 45 （2006） 79] a scheme was presented f.r approximate and conditional teleportation of.an unknown atomic state in a QED-cavity without Bell-state measurement via two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model in the ef.ective Hamiltonian approach. This comment presents an alternative method, based on the so called ＂f.ll two-photon Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian approach＂. Accordingly, it describes the evolution of.the two-photon degenerate process f.r arbitrary average photon number inside the cavity, as the correct way to implement teleportation in this scenario.
