Microgrids have presented themselves as an effective concept to guarantee a reliable,efficient and sustainable electricity delivery during the current transition era from passive to active distribution ***,microgrids could offer effective ancillary services(AS)to the power utility,although this will not be possible before the traditional planning and operation methodologies are ***,a probabilistic multi-objective microgrid planning(POMMP)methodology is proposed in this paper to contemplate the large number of variables,multiple objectives,and different constraints and uncertainties involved in the microgrid *** planning methodology is based on the optimal size and location of energy distributed resources with the goal of minimizing the mismatch power in islanded mode,while the residual power for AS provision and the investment and operation costs of the microgrid in grid-connected mode are maximized and minimized,*** that purpose,probabilistic models and a true multi-objective optimization problem are implemented in the *** methodology is tested in an adapted PG&E 69-bus distribution system and the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithmⅡ(NSGA-Ⅱ)optimization method and an analytic hierarchy process for decision-making are used to solve the optimization problem.

Variation in abundance and habitat relationship of three understory insectivorous birds in a disturbed landscape of Neotropical dry forest of Colombia

Objective:To evaluate 11 Cuban native Bacillus(B.)thuringiensis isolates in order to select one with the best larvicidal activity against Aedes(Ae.)aegypti and low ***:The cry and cyt genes of the isolates(A21,A51,l95,l910,M29,R84,R85,R87,R89,U81 and X48)were amplified by *** influence of organic matter and NaCl on the larvicidal activity was tested by *** was assayed on peritoneal macrophages of BAlB/c ***:The cyt1(Aa,Ab,Ba),cyt2,cry4aA,cry4Ba,cry11(Aa,Ba,Bb)and cry10 genes were identified in all native Cuban *** larvicidal activity(lC_(90))of seven isolates was affected by the presence of organic matter in the water,while A21,A51,l910,R84,U81 and X48 had better lC_(50),lC_(90),lC_(95) than the 266/29-Ⅶ-98 control *** lC_(50) of two isolates was affected by the presence of NaCl and A21,A51,R85 isolate had better larvicidal activity than the 266/29-Ⅶ-98 control *** terms of toxicity against macrophages,the extracts of nine isolates were less cytotoxic than the control ***:Native isolate A21 had the main virulence factors against *** larvae,displayed a good larvicidal activity in presence of different factors related with *** breeding sites,and had low citotoxicity against *** results can contribute to the improvement of existing biological control strategies and the development of new biolarvicides.

Experimental analysis of infragravity waves in two eroded microtidal beaches

This work aims to contribute to the characterization and understanding ofinfragravity waves on two beaches with erosion problems. For this reason, we have used an array of ADCP and a pressure sensor to measure wave parameters and pressure inside and outside of the surf zone during the dry and rainy period in the beaches of Galerazamba and Manzanillo del Mar （both dissipative and eroded beaches） located in the Colombian Caribbean coast. Based on these measurements, we have carried out a spectral analysis in order to identify the frequency components that characterize the wave and its energy; thus, we identified the characteristic frequencies of iufragravity waves to finally filter the infragravity signal on each beach in different seasonal periods. Among the results of the Welch spectrum applied to surface elevation time series, we found that, the frequencies＇ energy of the sea-swell band decreases due to bottom friction and wave breaking as the wave approaches the shore, while the frequencies＇ energy of the infragravity band increases significantly. In addition, for the wavelet analysis, we could observe how the energy of the infragravity band, especially the lowest frequencies gain energy as the waves approaches the coast. Furthermore, based on the infragravity wave obtained from the extreme wave event registered during the field campaign we can conclude that the contribution of this signal is important in the erosion problems presented in the beaches of Galerazamba and Manzanillo del Mar. Finally, these results show the need to realize other studies that allow us to understand deeply, the role of infragravity waves on the morphological changes that occurs in these beaches.

Diabetes remains an important health issue as more patients with chronic and uncontrolled diabetes develop diabetic nephropathy(DN), which classically presents with proteinuria followed by a progressive decrease in renal ***, an increasing proportion of DN patients have a decline in kidney function and vascular complications without proteinuria, known as nonproteinuric DN(NP-DN). Despite the increased incidence of NP-DN, few clinical or experimental studies have thoroughly investigated the pathophysiological mechanisms and targeted treatment for this form of DN. In this review, we will examine the differences between conventional DN and NP-DN and consider potential pathophysiological mechanisms, diagnostic markers, and treatment for both DN and NP-DN. The investigation of the pathophysiology of NP-DN should provide additional insight into the cardiovascular factors influencing renal function and disease and provide novel treatments for the vascular complications seen in diabetic patients.

Background Diffusion tensor imaging （DTI） permits quantitative examination within the pyramidal tract （PT） by measuring fractional anisotropy （FA）. To the best of our knowledge, the inter-variability measures of FA along the PT remain unexplained. A clear understanding of these reference values would help radiologists and neuroscientists to understand normality as well as to detect early pathophysiologic changes of brain diseases. The aim of our study was to calculate the variability of the FA at eleven anatomical landmarks along the PT and the influences of gender and cerebral hemisphere in these measurements in a sample of young, healthy volunteers. Methods A retrospective, cross-sectional study was performed in twenty-three right-handed healthy volunteers who underwent magnetic resonance evaluation of the brain. Mean FA values from eleven anatomical landmarks across the PT （at centrum semiovale, corona radiata, posterior limb of internal capsule （PlIC）, mesencephalon, pons, and medulla oblongata） were evaluated using split-plot factorial analysis of variance （ANOVA）. Results We found a significant interaction effect between anatomical landmark and cerebral hemisphere （F （10, 32）=4.516, P=0.001; Wilks＇ lambda 0.415, with a large effect size （partial η2=0.585））. The influence of gender and age was non-significant. On average, the midbrain and PlIC FA values were higher than pons and medulla oblongata values; centrum semiovale measurements were higher than those of the corona radiata but lower than PlIC. Conclusions There is a normal variability of FA measurements along PT in healthy individuals, which is influenced by regions of interest location （anatomical landmarks） and cerebral hemisphere. FA measurements should be reported for comparing same-side and same-landmark PT to help avoid comparisons with the contralateral PT; ideally, normative values should exist for a clinically significant age group. Analysis of the role of diffraction in topographic site effects using boundary element techniques

The role played by the diffraction field on the problem of seismic site effects is studied. For that purpose we solve and analyze simple scattering problems under P and SV in-plane wave assumptions, using two well known direct boundary-element-based numerical methods. After establishing the difference between scattered and diffracted motions, and introducing the concept of artificious and physically based incoming fields, we obtain the amplitude of the Fourier spectra for the diffracted part of the response： this is achieved after establishing the connection between the spatial distribution of the transfer function over the studied simple topographies and the diffracted field. From the numerical simulations it is observed that this diffracted part of the response is responsible for the amplification of the surface ground motions due to the geometric effect. Furthermore, it is also found that the diffraction field sets in a fingerprint of the topographic effect in the total ground motions. These conclusions are further supported by observations in the time-domain in terms of snapshots of the propagation patterns over the complete computational model. In this sense the geometric singularities are clearly identified as sources of diffraction and for the considered range of dimensionless frequencies it is evident that larger amplifications are obtained for the geometries containing a larger number of diffraction sources thus resulting in a stronger topographic effect. The need for closed-form solutions of canonical problems to construct a robust analysis method based on the diffraction field is identified.
