In this review, we address the question of how the tip-growing pollen tube achieves its rapid rate of elongation while maintaining an intact cell wall. Although turgor is essential for growth to occur, the local expansion rate is controlled by local changes in the viscosity of the apical wall. We focus on several different structures and underly- ing processes that are thought to be major participants including exocytosis, the organization and activity of the actin cytoskeleton, calcium and proton physiology, and cellular energetics. We think that the actin cytoskeleton, in particular the apical cortical actin fringe, directs the flow of vesicles to the apical domain, where they fuse with the plasma mem- brane and contribute their contents to the expanding cell wall. While pH gradients, as generated by a proton-ATPase located on the plasma membrane along the side of the clear zone, may regulate rapid actin turnover and new polymeri- zation in the fringe, the tip-focused calcium gradient biases secretion towards the polar axis. The recent data showing that exocytosis of new wall material precedes and predicts the process of cell elongation provide support for the idea that the intussusception of newly secreted pectin contributes to decreases in apical wall viscosity and to cell expansion. Other prime factors will be the localization and activity of the enzyme pectin methyl-esterase, and the chelation of calcium by pectic acids. Finally, we acknowledge a role for reactive oxygen species in the control of wall viscosity.

Mixed traffic conditions are often prevalent in developing economies such as India, China, Bangladesh, etc. and are characterised by the presence of multiple vehicle types. The presence of multiple vehicle types with varying dynamic and static characteristics results in vehicle-type dependent driving behaviours. For instance, drivers of small sized vehicles such as motorbikes accelerate and decelerate at will, maintain shorter safe gaps with the lead vehicles, and accept smaller lateral clearances to make lateral movements within and across lanes breaking the lane discipline. On the other hand, drivers of heavy vehicles such as trucks have less flexibility in performing the acceleration/deceleration and lateral movement operations. Thus, the representation of mixed traffic systems requires model- ling vehicle-type dependent driving behaviours. This paper first establishes the effect of vehicle type on the longitudinal and lateral movement behaviours of drivers using the trajectory data collected in India and subsequently presents the proposed vehicle-type dependent driver behavioural models based on the same dataset. The efficiency of the proposed models is tested by implementing them in a simulation framework compatible with non-lane-based movements of vehicles and cross validating with the field data. The results indicate better predictability of the driver behaviour and thus more realistic rep- resentation in the mixed traffic systems. Moreover, the simulator hinged upon the pro- posed behavioural models will be useful in evaluating alternate traffic improvement initiatives and help the transport planners to design the transport systems of developing countries in an efficient and sustainable manner.

The retention and fate of Roxarsone(ROX)onto typical reactive soil minerals were crucial for evaluating its potential environmental ***,the behavior and molecular-level reaction mechanism of ROX and its substituents with iron(hydr)oxides remains ***,the binding behavior of ROX on ferrihydrite(Fh)was investigated through batch experiments and in-situ ATR-FTIR *** results demonstrated that Fh is an effective geo-sorbent for the retention of *** pseudo-second-order kinetic and the Langmuir model successfully described the sorption *** driving force for the binding of ROX on Fh was ascribed to the chemical adsorption,and the rate-limiting step is simultaneously dominated by intraparticle and film *** results revealed that the sorption of ROX onto Fh appeared in uniformly distributed monolayer adsorption *** twodimensional correlation spectroscopy and XPS results implied that the nitro,hydroxyl,and arsenate moiety of ROX molecules have participated in binding ROX onto Fh,signifying that the predominated mechanisms were attributed to the hydrogen bonding and surface *** results can help to better understand the ROX-mineral interactions at the molecular level and lay the foundation for exploring the degradation,transformation,and remediation technologies of ROX and structural analog pollutants in the environment.

In the central Himalaya,the Greater and Lesser Himalayan tectonostratigraphic zones can be distinguished from each other by combining detrital zircon U-Pb ages and whole-rock Nd isotopic *** the Hazara-Kashmir syntaxis of northern Pakistan,rock units in the Kaghan valley have been variously assigned to the Tethyan,Greater,and Lesser Himalayan *** determine which tectonostratigraphic zones are represented,we sampled across the Batal thrust in the northern Kaghan valley because this structure is identified in some research as the Main Central *** from the footwall yield Paleo-to Mesoproterozoic maximum depositional ages(-1.8-1.1 Ga)and an averageεNd(0)value *** from the hanging wall yield Neoproterozoic maximum depositional ages(~1000-600 Ma)andεNd(0)values *** contrasting detrital zircon ages show that the Batal thrust in the Kaghan valley is a major structural ***,these data lack the characteristic detrital zircon age spectra andεNd(0)values of Greater and Lesser Himalayan rocks north and south of the Main Central thrust in the central Himalaya,***,either the Batal thrust is not the Main Central thrust,or the Main Central thrust in the Kaghan valley cuts a different structural level and carries rock units not seen outside the Hazara-Kashmir syntaxis.

Through the research on the existing C-MANTEC neural network and PID control technology, this paper presents an improved C-MANTEC algorithm based on PID control system. The combining of the artificial neural networks with conventional PID control helps in exploring their respective advantages to forming the intelligent PID control. From UCI Repository cancer dataset, the developed system is tested. The results show that the scheme can not only improve the speed of the algorithm in the training process but also improve the generalization capability of the network, which further enhances the performance of PID controllers. The overall power consumed is also reduced to a greater extent.

The aim of this study was to develop a formulation to improve the oral absorption of baicalin(BA)by combining a phospholipid complex(PC)and self-emulsifying microemulsion drug delivery system(SMEDDS),termed BA–PC–***–PC was prepared by a solvent evaporation method and evaluated by complexation percentage(CP).The physicochemical properties of BA–PC were *** synergistic effect of PC and SMEDDS on permeation of BA was studied in vitro with Caco-2 cells and in situ with a single pass intestinal perfusion *** improved bioavailability of BA in BA–PC–SMEDDS was confirmed in an in vivo rat *** CP of BA–PC reached 100%when the molar ratio of drug to phospholipid(PP)was Z1:*** solubility of BA–PC increased in both water and octanol,and the log P o/w of BA–PC was increased ***–PC–SMEDDS could be dispersed more evenly in water,compared to BA and BA–*** the Caco-2 cell uptake and single-pass intestinal perfusion models illustrated that transport of BA in BA–PC was lower than that of free BA,while improved significantly in BA–PC–*** relative bioavailability of BA–PC(1:2)–SMEDDS was 220.37%.The combination system of PC and SMEDDS had a synergistic effect on improving the oral absorption of BA.
