multicomponent polymerization of elemental sulfur,difluoromethylene phosphobetaine and aryl silyl ethers toward aromatic poly(O,O′-monothiocarbonate)s

Polythiocarbonates with similar structures to polycarbonates, have emerged as a group of promising sulfur-containing polymers with a range of practical applications, taking advantages of their excellent optical properties, good thermal stability and filmforming ability, and so on. However, the synthesis of polythiocarbonates generally suffered from mixed isomeric structures of repeating units, and hazardous sulfur-containing reagents. In this work, an efficient multicomponent reaction of elemental sulfur,difluoromethylene phosphobetaine（PDFA）, and aryl silyl ethers was designed with the assistance of organic base 7-methyl-1,5,7-triazabicyclo[4.4.0]dec-5-ene（mTBD） to produce 12 kinds of O,O′-monothiocarbonate compounds in up to 93% yields,taking advantages of the unique chemical property of difluorocarbene, and the deprotection of silyl group by F-generated from PDFA. most importantly, the mTBD-assisted multicomponent polymerization of bis（aryl silyl ether）s, elemental sulfur, and PDFA was developed, affording 12 kinds of poly（O,O′-monothiocarbonate）s with well-defined structures, high mws of up to16900 g/mol and high yields（up to 99%）. These poly（O,O′-monothiocarbonate）s possessed good film-forming properties and thermal stability, high light refractive indices and transmittance. The facile synthesis of these polymonothiocarbonates might pave the way for the development of promising sulfur-containing polymer materials.

Effects of Local-Lag mechanism on Task Performance in a Desktop CVE System

Consistency maintenance is a kernel problem in Collaborative VirtualEnvironment (CVE) research. The approaches used in Networked Virtual Environments (e.g., DRalgorithm) could not be used in CVEs, for they could not prevent short-term ***, local-lag mechanism has been proposed to eliminate short-term inconsistency in *** a proper lag value is a key problem in local-lag mechanism. This paper studied the effectsof lag value (0ms-900ms) on task performance in a desktop CVE system. Experimental results indicatethat the effect of lag value on task performance is not linear. The effect could be separated intofour segments by three dividing points: 150ms, 300ms and 600ms. Lag has no effect on taskperformance while ranging from 0ms to 150ms. From 150ms to 300ms, lag slightly affects taskperformance. Lag deteriorates task performance seriously while ranging from 300ms to 600ms. When lagis longer than 600ms, the task cannot be accomplished sometimes.

2D CaWO4 nanosheets derived from scheelite minerals for enhanced electrocatalysis in oxygen evolution reaction

Scheelite （CaWO4） mineral holds promise as a cost-effective and efficient catalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction （OER）crucial in renewable energy ***,challenges such as limited active site exposure and low electrocatalytic performance need *** this work,we have fabricated two-dimensional （2D） CaWO4nanosheets from scheelite minerals via a straightforward ultrasonic exfoliation method and evaluated their efficacy as OER *** to scheelite powders,these 2D nanosheets exhibited superior crystallinity and a 1.26-fold increase in electrochemical surface area,promoting active site *** 2D CaWO4nanosheet electrode demonstrated outstanding OER catalytic performance,achieving a current density of 20 mA/cm2at an overpotential of 290 m V in alkaline conditions,which was lower than that of bulk CaWO4electrodes （～340 mV）.Density functional theory calculations attributed this enhanced catalytic performance to moderate adsorption of oxygenated intermediates （*OH,*O,and*OOH） on the W sites of 2D *** situ electrochemical atomic force microscopy tests also confirmed the catalytic enhancement by 2D CaWO4nanosheets during *** findings demonstrate the potential of affordable and abundant mineral resources in advancing electrochemical catalysts for oxygen evolution,highlighting their broader application in sustainable energy technologies.

Trap-assisted charge recombination is one of the primary limitationsof restricting the performance of organic solar cells. However, effectivelyreducing the presence of traps in the photoactive layer remains ***, wide bandgap polymer donor PTzBI-dF is demonstrated as an effectivemodulator for enhancing the crystallinity of the bulk heterojunction active layerscomposed of D18 derivatives blended with Y6, leading to dense and orderedmolecular packings, and thus, improves photoluminescence quenching *** a result, the photovoltaic devices exhibit reduced trap-assisted charge recombinationlosses, achieving an optimized power conversion efficiency of over 19%.Besides the efficiency enhancement, the devices comprised of PTzBI-dF as athird component simultaneously attain decreased current leakage, improved chargecarrier mobilities, and suppressed bimolecular charge recombination, leading toreduced energy losses. The advanced crystalline structures induced by PTzBI-dFand its characteristics, such as well-aligned energy level, and complementaryabsorption spectra, are ascribed to the promising performance *** findings suggest that donor phase engineering is a feasible approach to tuning the molecular packings in the active layer, providingguidelines for designing effective morphology modulators for high-performance organic solar cells.

metal-organic frameworks with dinuclear metal centers for synergistically boosting CO2 photoreduction

Dinuclear metal synergistic catalysis （DmSC） has been proved powerful in boosting CO2reduction,while this has not been achieved in heterogeneous catalysts with long-range order *** this study,we,by introduction of metal catalytic centers into an indium-based metal-organic framework （mOF）,obtained a series of isostructural In-mOFs,including three mOFs with mononuclear metal catalytic center （m-In）,three mOFs with dinuclear homometallic catalytic centers （mm-In）,and three mOFs with dinuclear heterometallic catalytic centers (mm’-In,m/m’=Co（II）,Ni（II）,Zn（II）).It was found that all these mOFs can serve as catalysts for photochemical CO2reduction to *** with m-In,the catalytic activities of mm-In were obviously enhanced,and that of mm’-In was further significantly *** example,the CO yield of Co Zn-In reaches a record value of 12,700μmol g-1h-1,which is 4.0,8.1,9.4,and 18.6-fold higher than that of Co Co-In,Zn Zn-In,Co-In,and Zn-In,***,the catalytic activities of Co Ni-In and Ni Zn-In also show different fold increase than those of corresponding dinuclear homometallic and mononuclear metallic *** results of control experiments and theoretical calculation reveal that the higher catalytic activities of mm-In over m-In can be ascribed to the DmSC effect,and the higher catalytic activity of mm’-In over mm-In can be ascribed to the strengthened DmSC *** work reveals the relationship between DmSC effect and bimetal centers in CO2reduction,which provides new insights into the DmSC and paves a new way to design highly active catalysts for photochemical CO2reduction.

Polarization-encoded neural networks with simplified grating patch

Optical neural networks (ONNs) offer a promising solution for high-performance, energy-efficient artificial intelligence hardware by leveraging the parallelism and speed of light. However, the large-scale implementation of ONNs remains challenging due to the bulky footprint and complex control of optical synapses. In this work, we propose and simulate a plasmonic polarized synaptic architecture that overcomes the diffraction limit and enables ultra-compact ONNs. By tuning the polarization state of incident light, the optical transmittance through each plasmonic unit can be dynamically adjusted to represent a synaptic weight. Our plasmonic structures, with features as small as 40 nm, operate well below this limit in the visible spectrum (400–750 nm). Compared with diffraction and interference-based circuit designs, our proposed method achieves a substantial reduction in synaptic density by factors of 150000-fold and 1500-fold, respectively. Furthermore, we successfully demonstrate a proof-of-concept plasmonic ONN applied to the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research—10classes (CIFAR-10) dataset using a Visual geometry group network with 16 layers (Vgg16) model. After training for 80epochs, the network achieves an accuracy of 93%. The polarization-tunable plasmonics paves the way towards scalable ONNs for next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators and smart sensors.

muscle function, physical performance and body composition changes in men with prostate cancer undergoing androgen deprivation therapy

Prostate cancer （PCa） is the most common visceral malignancy in men with androgen deprivation therapy （ADT） the preferred therapy to suppress testosterone production and hence tumor growth. Despite its effectiveness in lowering testosterone, ADT is associated with side effects including loss of muscle mass, diminished muscle strength, decrements in physical performance, earlier fatigue and declining quality of life. This review reports a survey of the literature with a focus on changes in muscle strength, physical function and body composition, due to short-term and long-term ADT. Studies in these areas are sparse, especially well-controlled, prospective randomized trials. Cross-sectional and longitudinal data （up to 2 years） for men with PCa treated with ADT as well as patients with PCa not receiving ADT and age-matched healthy men are presented when available. Based on limited longitudinal data, the adverse effects of ADT on muscle function, physical performance and body composition occur shortly after the onset of ADT and tend to persist and worsen over time. Exercise training is a safe and effective intervention for mitigating these changes and initial guidelines for exercise program design for men with PCa have been published by the American College of Sports medicine. Disparities in study duration, types of studies and other patient-specific variables such as time since diagnosis, cancer stage and comorbidities may all affect an understanding of the influence of ADT on health, physical performance and mortality.

Background:Immune checkpoint inhibitors play an important role in the treatment of solid tumors, but the currently used immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting programmed cell death-1 (PD-1), programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1), and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA-4) show limited clinical efficacy in many breast cancers. B7H3 has been widely reported as an immunosuppressive molecule, but its immunological function in breast cancer patients remains unclear.methods:We analyzed the expression of B7H3 in breast cancer samples using data from the Cancer genome Atlas Program (TCgA) and the gene Expression Omnibus (gEO) databases. microRNAs were selected using the TarBase, miRTarBase, and miRBase databases. The regulatory role of the microRNA hsa-miR-214-3p on B7H3 was investigated through dual-luciferase reporter assays, which identified the specific action sites of interaction. The expression levels of B7H3 and hsa-miR-214-3p in human breast cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues were quantified using Western blotting and quantitative PCR (qPCR). experiments were performed to observe the effects of modulating the expression of B7H3 or hsa-miR-214-3p on breast cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis. Additionally, the regulatory impact of hsa-miR-214-3p on B7H3 was examined. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) and flow cytometry were employed to assess the effects of co-cultured breast cancer cells and normal human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBmCs) on immune cells and associated cytokines.Results:In breast cancer tissues, the expression level of B7H3 is inversely correlated with that of hsa-miR-214-3p, as well as with the regulatory effects on breast cancercell behavior. Hsa-miR-214-3p was found to inhibit breast cancer cell growth by downregulating B7H3.
