MicroRNA miR-252-5p regulates the Notch signaling pathway by targeting Rab6 in Drosophila wing development

The Notch signaling pathway plays a central role in the development of various ***,dysregulation of microRNAs(miRNAs),which are crucial regulators of gene expression,can disrupt signaling pathways at all stages of *** Notch signaling is involved in wing development in Drosophila,the mechanism underlying miRNA-based regulation of the Notch signaling pathway is ***,we report that loss of Drosophila miR-252 increases the size of adult wings,whereas the overexpression of miR-252 in specific compartments of larval wing discs leads to patterning defects in the adult *** miR-252 overexpression-induced wing phenotypes were caused by aberrant Notch signaling with intracellular accumulation of the full-length Notch receptor during development,which could be due to defects in intracellular Notch trafficking associated with its recycling to the plasma membrane and autophagy-mediated ***,we identified Rab6 as a direct target of miR-252-5p;Rab6 encodes a small Ras-like GTPase that regulates endosomal trafficking *** with this finding,RNAi-mediated downregulation of Rab6 led to similar defects in both wing patterning and Notch ***,co-overexpression of Rab6 completely rescued the wing phenotype associated with miR-252 overexpression,further supporting that Rab6 is a biologically relevant target of miR-252-5p in the context of wing ***,our data indicate that the miR-252-5p-Rab6 regulatory axis is involved in Drosophila wing development by controlling the Notch signaling pathway.

User Recognition System Based on Spectrogram Image Conversion Using EMG Signals

Recently,user recognitionmethods to authenticate personal identity has attracted significant attention especially with increased availability of various internet of things(IoT)services through fifth-generation technology(5G)based mobile *** EMG signals generated inside the body with unique individual characteristics are being studied as a part of nextgeneration user recognition ***,there is a limitation when applying EMG signals to user recognition systems as the same operation needs to be repeated while maintaining a constant strength of muscle over ***,it is necessary to conduct research on multidimensional feature transformation that includes changes in frequency features over *** this paper,we propose a user recognition system that applies EMG signals to the short-time fourier transform(STFT),and converts the signals into EMG spectrogram images while adjusting the time-frequency resolution to extract multidimensional *** proposed system is composed of a data pre-processing and normalization process,spectrogram image conversion process,and final classification *** experimental results revealed that the proposed EMG spectrogram image-based user recognition system has a 95.4%accuracy performance,which is 13%higher than the EMGsignal-based *** a user recognition accuracy improvement was achieved by using multidimensional features,in the time-frequency domain.

Aggregation-induced emission luminogens for organic light-emitting diodes with a single-component emitting layer

Organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs)have garnered increasing attention as a promising candidate for application in next-generation displays and solid-state lighting *** doping technique commonly used to fabricate light-emitting layers(EMLs)of OLEDs disperses the emitting material in a host matrix to mitigate aggregation-induced quenching(ACQ).Alternatively,owing to their high efficiency and ease of manufacture,nondoped OLEDs have been developed as a substitute for doped *** fabricating nondoped OLEDs,it is essential to suppress the ACQ effect in the EML and efficiently utilize the generated excitons for radiative *** the discovery of aggregation-induced emission(AIE)by Tang et al.,significant work has been done to improve the stability and efficiency of nondoped OLEDs based on fluorescent AIE luminogens(AIEgens).Fluorescent AIEgens,synthesized using various molecular frameworks,such as silole,tetra/triphenylethylene,tetraphenylpyrazine,and tetraphenylbenzene,exhibit high photoluminescence quantum yields in the solid ***,many studies have reported that fluorescent AIEgen-based OLEDs have excellent external quantum efficiency and exhibit emission at various wavelengths,including deep-blue/blue/green *** the development of fluorescent AIEgens,delayed fluorescent AIEgens with efficient triplet utilization through reverse intersystem crossing and AIE properties have been adopted as ideal emitters and used in nondoped *** review systematically discusses and summarizes recent reports on the development of AIEgens for nondoped OLEDs by grouping them into fluorescent and delayed fluorescent *** purpose of this review is to provide deep insights into the design of novel AIEgens for high-performance nondoped OLEDs.

Bulk photovoltaic effect,characterized by an excitation-driven unbiased spontaneous photocurrent,has attracted substantial attention mainly due to its potential for harvesting solar ***,we investigate the photovoltaic characteristics of organic molecular solids and focus on the association between the photocurrent and the crystal symmetry in the exemplary case of *** perform comprehensive first-principles calculations,including direct evaluations of the excitedstate current via real-time propagations of the time-dependent density functional *** find that the charge shifting in the low-temperature phase is mainly driven by the intrachain ferroelectricity,which gives rise to a photocurrent not only in the visiblelight range but also near the band-edge infrared *** shift current that is locked in the symmetry of the high-temperature phase can be released by introducing a potential *** suggest that organic molecular solids can be exploited via appropriate engineering to lower the symmetry,aiming at room-temperature photovoltaics.

There have been ever-growing demands to develop advanced electrocatalysts for renewable energy conversion over the past *** a promising platform for advanced electrocatalysts,reduced graphene oxide(rGO)has attracted substantial research interests in a variety of electrochemical energy conversion *** versatile utility is mainly attributed to unique physical and chemical properties,such as high specific surface area,tunable electronic structure,and the feasibility of structural modification and ***,a comprehensive discussion is provided upon recent advances in the material preparation,characterization,and the catalytic activity of rGO-based electrocatalysts for various electrochemical energy conversion reactions(water splitting,CO2 reduction reaction,N2 reduction reaction,and O2 reduction reaction).Major advantages of rGO and the related challenges for enhancing their catalytic performance are addressed.

This study introduces the design details of a tool to create interactive projection-mapping content in a convenient *** the proposed tool design,a homography-based camera–projector calibration method was applied with the use of red–green–blue-depth images from a Kinect V2 sensor that did not require accurate camera calibration *** addition,the proposed tool simultaneously achieved static projection mapping that projected the image content onto a fixed object,and dynamic projection mapping that projected the image content onto a user’s body,by tracing the moving *** verify the effectiveness of the proposed content-creation tool,users with no programming capabilities were employed to create contents that were projected onto various objects in fixed positions and a user’s body in various poses,thereby analyzing the tool’s ***,the projection accuracy was analyzed at different depth positions,and the projection-mapping accuracy was verified with the use of the proposed method.

Assessment of risk of complications in cirrhosis using portal thallium scans

AIM:To investigate the usefulness of a novel thallium scan shunt index for assessing portosystemic shuntrelated cirrhotic ***:We enrolled 209 chronic hepatitis B-related cirrhosis *** rectal thallium instillation,radioactive isotope activity in the heart and liver was *** ratio of radiation uptake between the heart and the liver was calculated(the shunt index).This value indicates the degree of portosystemic circulation *** tests,serum biochemistry tests,abdominal ultrasonography,gastroscopy and examination of clinical features such as the occurrence of varices,bleeding and hepatic encephalopathy were *** analysis was used to identify independent risk factors for *** compared the cumulative incidence rates of complications during the follow-up ***:The thallium scan shunt index was significantly higher in the decompensated liver cirrhosis group than in the compensated liver cirrhosis group(0.91±0.39 vs 0.39±0.32,P<0.001).It was also higher in the varices group,the hepatic encephalopathy group,and the variceal bleeding group than in the control group(P<0.001).Multivariate analysis showed that the index was an independent risk factor for predicting decompensated liver *** the cut-off value was 0.75,the shunt index had a sensitivity of 82.6%,a specificity of 84%,a positive predictive value of 61.5%,and a negative predictive value of 94.4%in diagnosing decompensated *** the shunt index was greater than 0.75,there was a significant increase in the number of decompensated ***:The thallium shunt index is a good predictor of cirrhosis-related complications.

In this study,the effects of pre-strain-induced tensile twins(TTWs)and controlled heat treatment on the formability behavior of AZX311 Mg alloy sheets were investigated.A 4%compressive strain was applied to pre-strain the sheets using the in-plane compression(IPC)technique along the rolling direction(RD)to introduce *** pre-strained(PS)samples were subsequently heat-treated at 250℃,350℃,and 400℃ independently for 1 hr,and are termed as PSA1,PSA2,and PSA3,*** cupping tests were conducted to assess the formability of the sheet samples under different initial *** results showed that the PS sample heat-treated at 250℃ for 1hr exhibited a decrease in the Erichsen index(IE)compared to the as-rolled sample,whereas PSA2 and PSA3 samples showed an increase in IE *** analysis revealed that most of the TTWs generated through pre-twinning were stable at 250℃;however,the twin volume fraction reduced to 41%at 350℃ compared to the PS samples due to enhanced thermal activity at that ***,PSA2 samples showed severe grain coarsening in some areas of the sample,and the fraction of such grains increased in the PSA3 *** stretch formability(IE value)of PSA2 samples showed a 32.3%increase compared to the as-rolled ***,the analysis of the deformed specimen at failure under the Erichsen test indicated that considerable detwinning occurs in the PS and PSA1 samples,whereas dislocation slip activity dominates in the PSA2 and PSA3 samples during stretch *** from detwinning and dislocation slip,deformation twins were also observed in all samples after the Erichsen ***,this work highlights the importance of texture control and its underlying mechanisms via pre-twinning followed by heat treatment and their impact on the room temperature(RT)stretch formability of AZX311 Mg alloy sheets.

Novel extended C-m models of flow stress for accurate mechanical and metallurgical calculations and comparison with traditional flow models

Here,we developed novel extended piecewise bilinear power law(C-m)models to describe flow stresses under broad ranges of strain,strain rate,and temperature for mechanical and metallurgical calculations during metal forming at elevated *** traditional C-m model is improved upon by formulating the material parameters C and m,defined at sample strains and temperatures as functions of the strain *** coefficients are described as a linear combination of the basis functions defined in piecewise patches of the sample strain and temperature domain.A comparison with traditional closed-form function flow models revealed that our approach using the extended piecewise bilinear C-m model is superior in terms of accuracy,ease of use,and adaptability;additionally,the extended C-m model was applicable to numerical analysis of mechanical,metallurgical,and microstructural ***,metallurgy-related values can be calculated directly from the flow stress *** the proposed model was developed for materials at elevated temperatures,it can be applied over a broad temperature range.

We report our experience with a synchronous case of gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST) and intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct(IPNB) in anelderly woman with neurofibromatosis type 1(NF-1). A 72-year-old woman presented with a 2-mo history of right upper abdominal pain unrelated to diet and indigestion. Fourteen years earlier, she had been diagnosed with NF-1, which manifested as café au lait spots and multiple nodules on the skin. Computed tomography(CT) revealed a multilocular low-density mass with septation, and mural nodules in the right hepatic lobe, as well as a 1.7-cm-sized well-demarcated enhancing mass in the third portion of the duodenum. The patient subsequently underwent right hepatectomy and duodenal wedge resection. We present here the first report of a case involving a synchronous IPNB and GIST in a patient with NF-1.
