Benefit of prophylactic bronchodilator withβ2 adrenergic agonist in ischemia-reperfusion-induced lung injury

Primary lung graft dysfunction could significantly attribute to ischemia-reperfusion lung injury(IRLI)during transplantation surgery.β2-adrenergic agonists were one of the bronchodilators that had been well-established in the management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)with anti-inflammatory *** applying the model of isolated rat lung,we evaluated the efficacy of short-actingβ2-agonist inhalation to ameliorate ischemia-reperfusion *** experiment protocol was 180 min of global ischemia and then reperfusion for 60 *** theβ2-agonist inhalation group,aerosolized albuterol was administrated prior ischemia *** weight ratios of wet to dry lung and microvascular permeability were characterized in the IRLI *** contrast,pre-inhaledβ2-agonist significantly mitigated the severity of pulmonary *** lavage from theβ2-agonist group presented decreased leukocyte counts and cytokines production,including interleukin-1β(IL-1β),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),and macrophage inflammatory protein 2(MIP-2).Devastating oxidative stress was widely recognized during the ischemia-reperfusion process,whileβ2-agonist pretreatment revealed subsided H2O2,myeloperoxidase(MPO),and the cleavage of *** blotting from lung homogenates identified the blockade of NF-κB and MAPK activation in theβ2-agonist inhalation ***,there was no specific pharmacotherapy in IRLI *** results elucidated the protective effect ofβ2-agonist bronchodilator against ischemia-reperfusion induced oxidative stress,inflammation reaction,and pulmonary edema.

Acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome （ALI/ARDS）, which manifests as non-cardiogcnic pulmonary edema, respiratory distress and hypoxemia, could be resulted from various processes that directly or indirectly injure the lung. Extensive investigations in experimental models and humans with ALI/ARDS have revealed many molecular mechanisms that offer therapeutic opportunities for cell or gene therapy. Herein the present strategies and future perspectives of the treatment for ALI/ARDS, include the ventilatory, pharmacological, as well as cell therapies.

Osthole,an active component of chinese herbal medicines,reportedly possesses various pharmacological properties and has potential therapeutic *** study explored the anti-allergic effects of osthole in asthmatic mice and investigated the immunomodulatory actions of osthole on dendritic cells(DCs)and T ***,we show that oral administration of osthole to BALB/c mice after ovalbumin(OVA)sensitization ameliorated all of the cardinal features of T helper 2(Th2)-mediated allergic asthma;namely,the production of OVA-specific immunoglobulin E,airway hyperresponsiveness,airway inflammation and the production of Th2-type cytokines including interleukin(IL)-4,IL-5 and ***,IL-10 production was not inhibited and was even enhanced by osthole *** observed a significant increase in the percentages of IL-10-producing DCs and forkhead box P3-positive regulatory T(Treg)cells in osthole-treated asthmatic ***,in vitro analyses revealed that osthole-treated bone-marrow-derived DCs had a partial maturation phenotype,secreting large amounts of IL-10 and low levels of proinflammatory cytokines,such as IL-12,IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α,and displaying reduced levels of MHC class II surface *** DCs displayed immunosuppressive capacity by directly inhibiting effector T-cell responses or inducing Treg *** addition,osthole directly inhibited the activated CD4+T-cell proliferation and Th1/Th2-type cytokine production in this ***,these results suggest that DCs and T cells are potential target cells responsible for the action of osthole against allergic asthma.

On the Current Error Based Sampled-data Iterative Learning Control with Reduced Memory Capacity

The design of iterative learning controller(ILC) requires to store the system input, output or control parameters of previous trials for generating the input of the current trial. In order to apply the iterative learning controller for a real application and reduce the memory size for implementation, a current error based sampled-data proportional-derivative(PD) type iterative learning controller is proposed for control systems with initial resetting error, input disturbance and output measurement noise in this *** proposed iterative learning controller is simple and effective. The first contribution in this paper is to prove the learning error convergence via a rigorous technical analysis. It is shown that the learning error will converge to a residual set if a forgetting factor is introduced in the controller. All the theoretical results are also shown by computer simulations. The second main contribution is to realize the iterative learning controller by a digital circuit using a field programmable gate array(FPGA) chip applied to repetitive position tracking control of direct current(DC) motors. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed current error based sampleddata iterative learning controller are demonstrated by the experiment results. Finally, the relationship between learning performance and design parameters are also discussed extensively.

Hair growth-promotion effects and antioxidant activity of the banana flower extract HappyAngel^(■):double-blind, placebo-controlled trial

Banana flowers contain various bioactive components, including several antioxidants with anti-inflammatory effects. However, it is unclear whether they can reduce and prevent hair loss. This study examines the effect of banana flower extracts on preventing hair loss and strengthening hair roots. The banana flower extract(HappyAngel^(■))was used to treat human hair follicle dermal papilla cells(HFDPCs)and the expression of reactive oxygen species(ROS), dihydrotestosterone(DHT), and hair-related genes(SRD5A1, SRD5A2, AR, and KROX20)were monitored. Fifty subjects were divided into a placebo group and a banana flower group. The experimental group consumed banana flower extract daily for twelve weeks and then underwent hair testing, hair-related genes analysis, collection of hair loss, and questionnaires. The results showed that the banana flower extract significantly increased hair cell growth and decreased the expression of ROS, DHT, and hair follicle growth inhibition-related SRD5A1, SRD5A2, and AR genes, and significantly increased the expression of hair growth-related KROX20 gene in HFDPCs. Consuming banana flower extract for twelve weeks increased the hair root diameter and reduced hair loss and scalp redness compared to the placebo group. Thus, banana flower extract(HappyAngel^(■))can stimulate hair growth and inhibit the activation of hair loss genes.

How does Bank Capital Affect Bank Profitability and Risk？ Evidence from china＇s WTO Accession

This paper examines how bank capital affects bank profitability and risk in china, and how its impact differed before and after the nation entered the WTO. Our study uses the dynamic generalized method of moments approach with a panel database containing 171 chinese commercial banks. We ftnd that bank capital has significant influence on bank profitability and risk, but its impact has declined since china joined the WTO in 2001. For different sized groups, the impact of capital on profitability exhibits a distinct trend. The effects of capital on bank risk are different for large and small banks depending on the risk variables used for the chinese banking industry.
