In this paper,we find that Property P can be generalized to characterize the solvability of a kind of networks with any number of sources,thus partially answering the open problem as to whether there are properties similar to Property P to characterize the solvability of some *** an application,for a given integer n,we construct such a solvable network that has no solvable solution if its alphabet size is less than n.

In this paper we generalize the global Sobolev inequality introduced by Klainerman in studying wave equation to the hyperbolic system *** obtain several decay estimates of solutions of a hyperbolic system of first order by different norms of initial *** particular,the result mentioned in Theorem 1.5 offers an optimal decay rate of solutions,if the initial data belongs to the assigned weighted Sobolev *** the proof of the theorem we reduce the estimate of solutions of a hyperbolic system to the corresponding case for a scalar pseudodifferential equation of the first order,and then establish the required estimate by using microlocal analysis.

Objective To evaluate the impact of long-term air particulate matter exposure on the life expectancy and survival rate of shanghai residents. Methods Epidemiology - based exposure-response function was used for the calculation of attributable deaths to air particulate matter in shanghai, and the effect of long-term exposure to particulate matter on life expectancy and survival rate was estimated using the life table of shanghai residents in 1999. Results It was shown that in 1999, the long-term air particulate matter exposure caused 1.34-1.69 years reduction of life expectancy and a decrease of survival rate for each age group of shanghai residents. Conclusion The effect of long-term exposure to air particulate matter on life expectancy is substantial in shanghai.

Space-time block codes based on complex orthogonal design have been widely investigated for their remarkable *** this paper,we propose a definition of more general complex orthogonal designs,which permits arbitrary complex factor with unit modulus in each *** prove that the maximal rate is still (m+1)/2m for n = 2m or 2m-1 antennas and minimal delay is also lower-bounded by(2m/(m-1)).Thus,allowing complex factor with unit modulus in each entry will not improve the main performance criterion of space-time block codes.

We are concerned with the derivation and analysis of one-dimensional hyperbolic systems of conservation laws modelling fluid flows such as the blood flow through compliant axisyminetric vessels. Early models derived are nonconservative and/or nonho- mogeneous with measure source terms, which are endowed with infinitely many Riemann solutions for some Riemann data. In this paper, we derive a one-dimensional hyperbolic system that is conservative and homogeneous. Moreover, there exists a unique global Riemann solution for the Riemann problem for two vessels with arbitrarily large Riemann data, under a natural stability entropy criterion. The Riemann solutions may consist of four waves for some cases. The system can also be written as a 3 × 3 system for which strict hyperbolicity fails and the standing waves can be regarded as the contact discontinuities corresponding to the second family with zero eigenvalue.

The authors study the finite decomposition complexity of metric spaces of H,equipped with different metrics,where is a subgroup of the linear group GL∞ (Z).It is proved that there is an injective Lipschitz mapφ:(F,ds) → (H,d),where is the Thompson's group,the word-metric of with respect to the finite generating set and a metric of *** it is not a proper ***,it is proved that:φ(F,ds) → (H,d1) is not a Lipschitz map,where d1 is another metric of H.

The full-length cDNA of Pinellia ternata agglutinin (PTA) was cloned from inflorescences using RACE PCR. Through comparative analysis of PTA gene (pta) and its deduced amino acid sequence with those of other Araceae species, pta was found to encode a precursor lectin with signal peptide and to have extensive homology with those of other Araceae species. PTA was a heterotetrameric mannose-binding lectin with three mannose-binding boxes like lectins from other Araceae and Amaryllidaceae species. Southern blot analysis of the genomic DNA revealed that pta belonged to a low-copy gene family. Northern blot analysis demonstrated that pta constitutively expressed in various plant tissues including root, leaf, stem and inflorescence. The pta cDNA sequence encoding for mature PTA protein was cloned into pET-32a plasmid and the resulting plasmid, pET-32a-PTA containing Trx-PTA fusion protein, was investigated for the expression in E. coli BL21. Weighted Profile Least Squares Estimation for a Panel Data Varying-Coefficient Partially Linear Model

This paper is concerned with inference of panel data varying-coefficient partially linear models with a one-way error structure. The model is a natural extension of the well-known panel data linear model （due to Baltagi 1995） to the setting of semiparametric regressions. The authors propose a weighted profile least squares estimator （WPLSE） and a weighted local polynomial estimator （WLPE） for the parametric and nonparametric components, respectively. It is shown that the WPLSE is asymptotically more efficient than the usual profile least squares estimator （PLSE）, and that the WLPE is also asymptotically more efficient than the usual local polynomial estimator （LPE）. The latter is an interesting result. According to Ruckstuhl, Welsh and Carroll （2000） and Lin and Carroll （2000）, ignoring the correlation structure entirely and ＂pretending＂ that the data are really independent will result in more efficient estimators when estimating nonparametric regression with longitudinal or panel data. The result in this paper shows that this is not true when the design points of the nonparametric component have a closeness property within groups. The asymptotic properties of the proposed weighted estimators are derived. In addition, a block bootstrap test is proposed for the goodness of fit of models, which can accommodate the correlations within groups illustrate the finite sample performances of the Some simulation studies are conducted to proposed procedures.
