Distribution of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances in blood,serum,and urine of patients with liver cancer and associations with liver function biomarkers

Studies have shown that per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFASs)may be hepatotoxic in animals or ***,data on clinical epidemiology are very *** this study,21PFASs were determined in patients with liver diseases,with the highest median concentrations detected in the serum sample(26.7 ng/mL),followed by blood(10.7 ng/mL)and urine(5.02 ng/mL).Higher total PFAS concentrations were found in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients compared to non-HCC patients,with significant discrepancies in serum and blood ***,significant correlations were also found among PFAS concentrations and age,gender,body mass index(BMI),and liver function biomarkers *** example,PFAS concentrations are significantly higher in males than in females;Several serum PFASs concentrations increase with age and BMI,while the serum perfluorohexane sulfonic acid(PFHxS)concentrations are negatively correlated with *** addition,multiple regression models adjusted for age,gender and BMI found that increased serum perfluorobutane sulfonic acid(PFBS),perfluoroheptane sulfonic acid(PFHpS)and perfluorohexylphosphonic acid(PFHxPA)conentrations are correlated with elevated alkaline phosphatase(ALP),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),and alpha-fetoprotein(AFP)(p<0.05).Our results provide epidemiological support for the future study on the potential clinical hepatotoxicity of PFAS.

Panic disorder is a psychiatric disorder characterized by recurrent panic attacks,with a prevalence of~4%in the general population,causing heavy personal and socioeconomic *** similarities of animal defense responses to clinical panic attack symptoms in humans make it possible to translate neuroanatomical pathways identified in animal studies to panic disorder in ***,in this review we first present a basic overview of panic disorder in humans including the main subtypes,models commonly used to trigger panic attacks,related hypotheses,the neurotransmitter systems that may be involved,and the current clinical treatments to give the reader a comprehensive understanding of panic *** animal section introduces the models that trigger panic-like behavior in animals and the brain regions that may be involved,providing insights for future elucidation of the neural circuit mechanisms behind panic attacks.

The jasmonate pathway promotes nodule symbiosis and suppresses host plant defense in Medicago truncatula

Root nodule symbiosis(RNs)between legumes and rhizobia is a major source of nitrogen in agricultural *** symbiosis requires precise regulation of plant defense *** role of the defense hormone jasmonic acid(JA)in the immune response has been extensively *** research shows that JA can play either a positive or negative regulatory role in RNS depending on its concentration,but the molecular mechanisms remain to be *** this study,we found that inoculation with the rhizobia Sm1021 induces the JA pathway in Medicago truncatula,and blocking the JA pathway significantly reduces the number of infection *** in the MtMYc2 gene,which encodes a JA signaling master transcription factor,significantly inhibited rhizobia infection,terminal differentiation,and symbiotic cell *** RNA sequencing and chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing,we discovered that MtMYc2 regulates the expression of nodule-specific MtDNF2,MtNAD1,and MtSymCRK to suppress host defense,while it activates MtDNF1 expression to regulate the maturation of MtNCRs,which in turn promotes bacteroid *** importantly,MtMYC2 participates in symbiotic signal transduction by promoting the expression of ***,the MtMYC2-MtiPD3 transcriptional regulatory module is specifically present in legumes,and the Mtmyc2 mutants are susceptible to the infection by the pathogen Rhizoctonia ***,these findings reveal the molecular mechanisms of how the JA pathway regulates RNS,broadening our understanding of the roles of JA in plant-microbe interactions.

Fabrication of Molecularly Imprinted Electrospun Nanofibers with Mono-amidoxime Functional Ligand for Efficient Decontamination of Toxic Organophosphates

There is an urgent imperative to discover practical and efficacious artificial catalysts for the expeditious decontamination of toxic organophosphates. Herein, we propose a novel molecularly imprinted approach utilizing electrospun fiber scaffolds. Specifically, an amidoxime-based functional polymer (PMAOX) has been synthesized, which contains amidoxime groups that can act as nucleophiles and ligands for the formation of catalytic active sites. This polymer was blended with polyacrylonitrile (PAN), a well-processable material, to prepare a nanofiber mat using electrospinning techniques. Then, the amidoxime side groups on fiber surface were further cross-linked after the molecular coordination of templates to complete the molecularly imprinting process. This approach can not only enhance the content of functional molecularly imprinted polymers without affecting structural stability, but also combines surface MI technology to fully expose and leverage the advantages of active sites. The as prepared molecularly imprinted electrospun nanofibers MIF-Zn-PMAOX/PAN-6/4 catalyzes the degradation of paraoxon with a half-life of 32 min, and MIF-Ag-PMAOX/PAN catalyzes the degradation of parathion with a half-life of 18 min. The maximum catalytic rate evidence rate enhancements nearly 3700-fold of the self-hydrolysis. Thus, the mono-amidoxime based molecularly imprinted fibers demonstrate the versatility and superiority as self-detoxifying for organophosphates.

Characterization of size-resolved effective density of atmospheric particles in an urban atmosphere in Southern China

Effective density(ρ_(eff))is one of the most important physical properties of atmospheric particles,providing important references in exploring the emissions and aging processes of fresh *** this study,a combined system of differential mobility analyzer,centrifugal particle mass analyzer,and condensation particle counter was used to periodically measure theρ_(eff)of atmospheric particles in Shenzhen from Oct.2021 to *** showed that theρ_(eff)of particles with various size presented a bimodal distribution,which could be divided into main density(ρ_(m),main peak,corresponding to relatively dense particles after aging)and sub density(ρ_(s),sub peak,corresponding to fresh particles).The occurrence frequencies ofρ_(s)of particles with diameters of 50 and 80 nm were less than 20%,but were as high as about 40%of that with diameters from 120 to 350 ***ρ_(m)showed increasing trend with the size of particles,whileρ_(s)decreased as the increasing of the size of ***ρ_(eff)on pollution day varied significantly with chemical *** increasing of the proportion of sulfate could promote the increasing ofρ_(eff),while black carbon and organic matter caused opposite effects,which may be related to various factors,including the difference of the material density and morphology of various chemical ***ρ_(eff)of 50,80 and 120 nm particles decreased considerably during the new particle formation event,indicating that organic condensation was an important contributor to new particle growth.

Seawater battery is an advanced energy storage system that enables conversion of chemical energy to electricity by consuming metals,dissolved oxygen and seawater in anode,cathode and electrolyte,***,the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)activity and stability of electrocatalysts can be easily deactivated due to the severe Cl~-permeation and corrosion in seawater ***,we developed a structural buffer engineering strategy by spontaneously anchoring Cl~-intoα-Co(OH)_(2) as efficient and stable ORR electrocatalysts,in which the ultrathinα-Co(OH)_(2) nanosheets were synthesized using an ultrafast solution high-temperature shock(SHTS)*** large lattice space(~0.8 nm)of layeredα-Co(OH)_(2) ensured the spontaneously penetration of Cl~-into the lattice structure and replaced part of OH~-to formα-Co(OH)_(2-x)Cl_*** continuous leaching and compensating of saturated Cl inα-Co(OH)_(2-x)Cl_x could enhance the Cl~-corrosion resistance and modulate electronic structure of Co metallic sites,thus improving the ORR electrocatalytic activity and stability in seawater ***α-Co(OH)_(2-x)Cl_x seawater batteries display superior onset and half-wave potentials of 0.71 and 0.66 V,respectively,which are much better than the counterparts ofα-Co(OH)_(2) and ofβ-Co(OH)_(2) with no Cl~-penetrating and no buffer ***α-Co(OH)_(2-x)Cl_x-based seawater batteries display stable open-circuit potential of 1.69 V and outstanding specific capacity of 1345 mAh·g^(-1).

Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder that is primarily treated with antiseizure medications(ASMs).Although dozens of ASMs are available in the clinic,approximately 30%of epileptic patients have medically refractory seizures;other limitations in most traditional ASMs include poor tolerability and drug-drug ***,there is an urgent need to develop alternative ***(LEV)is a first-line ASM that is well tolerated,has promising efficacy,and has little drug-drug *** it is widely accepted that LEV acts through a unique therapeutic target synaptic vesicle protein(SV)2A,the molecular basis of its action remains *** so,the next-generation SV2A ligands against epilepsy based on the structure of LEV have achieved clinical *** review highlights the research and development(R&D)process of LEV and its analogs,brivaracetam and padsevonil,to provide ideas and experience for the R&D of novel ASMs.

Ligand-controlled electrochemiluminescence generation from CdSe/CdS/ZnS core/shell/shell quantum dots

The CdSe/CdS/ZnS core/shell/shell quantum dots(QDs)with strong exciton confinement have manifested themselves as competitive light-emitting materials in electrochemiluminescence(ECL).However,cathodic ECL generation by these QDs requires the injection of electron and hole from solid electrode and electrogenerated radicals(for example SO_(4)•^(−)),which is inevitably influenced by not only the inorganic structure of QDs but also the organic ligands on the *** this work we aimed at studying the impact of surface organic ligands on ECL performance of CdSe/CdS/ZnS *** changing the surface ligand from oleate to acetate,we phenomenologically observed the positive shift of ECL onset potential by ca.200 mV and the increase of ECL intensity by~100 times,suggesting that a short ligand is more favorable for ECL *** further comprehend the ligand effect,we measured the charge injection kinetics using potential-modulated,time-resolved photoluminescence,and thinlayer spectroelectrochemistry *** electron and hole injection into QDs were found to be accelerated by 2–20 times if shortening the ligand from oleate to acetate,confirming the significant impact of surface ligands on ECL performance of *** study is expected to provide guidance on how to design surface functionalized QDs for specific applications such as ECL immunodiagnosis,photocatalysis,and photovoltaics.

The photovoltaic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells （DSSCs） is enhanced by modifying the binary room tem- perature ionic liquid （RTIL） electrolyte with additives and iodine. The average photoelectric conversion efficiency （PCE） of 6.39% is achieved. Through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS）, cyclic voltammetry scans and incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency （1PCE） data, the working principles are analyzed. The enhancement is mainly attributed to the improvement of short circuit current which is caused by the reduction of overall internal resistance of the devices. Durability tests are measured at room temperature, and the long-term stability performance can be maintained.

Numerical simulation analysis of wind field above pavement surface in different landforms by computational fluid dynamics approach

The temperature and moisture of the pavement structure can be greatly influenced by the wind speed above pavement *** wind speed above pavement surface not only is dominated by the wind speed of atmosphere,but also it is highly related to the landform and buildings around ***,currently there are no studies about the wind field above pavement surface in consideration of the effect of the landform and buildings.A simulation method,which is combined with geographic information system(GIS),wind data from meteorological observatory and computational fluid dynamics(CFD)software,is employed to study the effect of the landform and the wind speed of atmosphere on the wind field above pavement *** cases are studied,including an urban road,a coastal road and a mountainous ***,the wind field distribution above road surface in different wind directions was studied in our *** indicate that the wind field above pavement surface can be greatly affected by the landforms,buildings and wind *** simulation method can provide reliable results for the wind field above pavement *** maximum relative errors between simulated and measured wind speed can be less than 20%in the analysis of the three *** is recommended that the CFD simulation method is a good tool to accurately know the wind field above pavement surface.
