controllable vortex lasing arrays in a geometrically frustrated exciton-polariton lattice at room temperature

Quantized vortices appearing in topological excitations of quantum phase transition play a pivotal role in strongly correlated physics involving the underlying confluence of superfluids,Bose-Einstein condensates and *** polaritons as bosonic quasiparticles have enabled studies of non-e quilibrium quantum gases and ***-polariton condensates in artificial lattices intuitively emulate energy-band structures and quantum many-body effects of condensed matter,underpinning constructing vortex lattices and controlling quantum fluidic ***,we harness exciton-polariton quantum fluids of light in a frustrated kagome lattice based on robust metal-halide perovskite microcavities,to demonstrate vortex lasing arrays and modulate their configurations at room *** energy-momentum spectra unambiguously reveal massless Dirac bands and quenched kinetic-energy flat bands coexisting in kagome lattices,where polariton condensates exhibit prototypical honeycomb and kagome spatial *** coherence investigations illustrate two types of phase textures of polariton condensates carrying ordered quantized-vortex arrays and π-phase shifts,which could be selected when needed using lasing emission *** findings offer a promising platform on which it is possible to study quantum-fluid correlations in complex polaritonic lattices and highlight feasible applications of structured light.

In this study,various operating parameters influencing performance of stationary grain crop threshers were *** parameters were deduced from the established analytical models describing the underlying principles for the crop characteristics and machine variables as factors influencing the overall machine performance of a stationary multi-crop thresher.A computer programme written in Visual Basic was used to select optimum operating performance of the threshing process in a stationary tooth–peg grain crop *** IITA-popularized stationary multi-crop thresher was used to test the practical feasibility of the computer based output of the threshing process.A split–split–unit statistical design was used for data *** data collected were analyzed using the GENSTAT 5 statistical package with its computer *** results showed that graphs of data from measured thresher performance indices against the predicted data for all the established models indicated high correlation between the models and the measured data at p≤5%significance *** minimum energy requirements for detachment of sorghum and rice were observed at the threshing cylinder speed of 500 r/min(10.5 m/s)and 615 r/min(13.0 m/s),*** combination of the threshing cylinder speed of 500 r/min(10.5 m/s)and 615 r/min(13.0 m/s)at crop moisture content of 12.8%and 16.2%indicated optimum threshing conditions for sorghum and rice,respectively.

Simulation model for electron irradiated IGZO thin film transistors

An efficient drain current simulation model for the electron irradiation effect on the electrical parameters of amorphous In–Ga–Zn–O（IGZO） thin-film transistors is developed. The model is developed based on the specifications such as gate capacitance, channel length, channel width, flat band voltage etc. Electrical parameters of un-irradiated IGZO samples were simulated and compared with the experimental parameters and 1 kGy electron irradiated parameters. The effect of electron irradiation on the IGZO sample was analysed by developing a mathematical model.

This review provided some recent progress of the research on corrosion mechanisms of magnesium and its alloys and a basis for follow-on research. Galvanic corrosion, pitting corrosion, intergranular corrosion (IGc), filiform corrosion, crevice corrosion, stress corrosion cracking (Scc), and corrosion fatigue (cF) were discussed. The influence of metallurgical factors such as alloying elements, microstructure and secondary phases, processing factors such as heat treatment and weld, and environmental factors including temperature, relative humidity, solution pH values and concentration on corrosion were discussed. In particular, a mechanism of pitting corrosion caused by AlMn particles was proposed. The corrosion properties of AZ91D weld material were investigated.

Thermal and photoperiodic requirements of the seedling stage of three tropical forest species

Air temperature and photoperiod play an important role in the seedling development for tropical forest *** variables are sensitive to climate,and so evaluating thermal and photoperiodic effects on seedling development is fundamental,especially for climate change *** to quantify thermal time and the energy required for plants to reach a development stage include air temperature and cardinal *** photoperiod will also affect physiological reactions of a plant and thus its *** we evaluated the six thermal time methods widely used to compute thermal requirement,and identified the influence of the photoperiod from the 2015 and2016 growing seasons and 12 sowing dates in Itajubá,Minas Gerais state,Brazil,on seedling development of three native tropical forest species Psidium guajava L.(Myrtaceae),citharexylum myrianthum cham.(Verbenaceae),and Bixa orellana L.(Bixaceae).The method used to quantify thermal time influenced the analytical results of seedling development;the one that considered three cardinal temperatures and compared them with the mean air temperature(Method5)performed better in computing thermal *** influence of photoperiod on seedling development was inconclusive for the three species,but all three developed better in mild temperatures(between 13.3℃and 26.9℃)with a photoperiod shorter than 13 h.

UV light-induced oxygen doping in graphitic carbon nitride with suppressed deep trapping for enhancement in cO_(2) photoreduction activity

While photoreduction of cO_(2) to cH 4 is an effective means of producing value-added fuels,common pho-tocatalysts have poor activity and low selectivity in photocatalytic cO_(2)-reduction *** though creating defects is an effective photocatalyst fabrication route to improve photocatalytic activity,there are some challenges with the facile photocatalyst synthesis *** this work,an O element is in-troduced into a graphitic carbon nitride(cN)skeleton through a precursory ultraviolet light irradiation pretreatment to increase the visible light absorption and enhance the carrier density of this modified non-metal cN photocatalyst;the charge transfer dynamics thereof are also studied through electrochem-ical tests,photoluminescence spectroscopy,and nanosecond transient *** verify that the op-timized sample exhibits lower charge recombination and a suppressed 84 ns electron-trapping lifetime,compared to the 103 ns electron-trapping lifetime of the cN counterpart,and thereby contributes to ro-bust detrapping and a fast transfer of active *** density functional theory calculations,we find that the improved light absorption and increased electron density are ascribed to O-element doping,which enhances the cO_(2) adsorption energy and improves the cO_(2)-to-cH 4 photoreduction activity;it be-comes 17 times higher than that of the bare cN,and the selectivity is 3.8 times higher than that of ***,the optimized sample demonstrates excellent cyclic stability in a 24-hour cycle test.

Sintering behavior of combusted iron powder in a packed bed reactor with nitrogen and hydrogen

Sintering behavior of micron-sized combusted iron powder is studied in a packed bed reactor,at various temperatures under inert(nitrogen)and reducing(hydrogen)*** tests are subsequently used to quantify the degree of sintering.A sintering model,based on the formation of a solid bridge through solid state surface diffusion of iron atoms,matches the experimental *** of combusted iron occurs at temperatures≥575°c in both nitrogen and hydrogen atmospheres and increases exponentially with *** observed decrease in reduction rate at high temperatures is not caused by the sintering process but by the formation of wüstite as an intermediate species,leading to the formation of a dense iron *** whiskers form at high temperatures(≥700°c)in combination with low reduction rates(≤25 vol%H2),leading to the production of sub-micron fines.
