The Nicotiana genus, commonly known as tobacco, holds significant importance as a crucial economic crop. confrontedwith an abundance of herbivorous insects that pose a substantial threat to yield, tobacco has developed adiverse and sophisticated array of mechanisms, establishing itself as a model of plant ec.l.gic.l.defense. Thisreview provides a concise overview of the current understanding of tobacco’s defense strategies against *** defenses, exemplified by its well-known tactic of secreting the alkaloid nicotine, serve as a potent toxinagainst a broad spectrum of herbivorous pests. Moreover, in response to herbivore attacks, tobacco enhancesthe discharge of volatile compounds, harnessing an indirect strategy that attracts the predators of the *** delicate balance between defense and growth leads to the initiation of most defense strategies only after aherbivore attack. Among plant hormones, notably jasmonic acid (JA), play central roles in coordinating thesedefense processes. JA signaling interacts with other plant hormone signaling pathways to fac.l.tate the extensivetranscriptional and metabolic adjustments in plants following herbivore assault. By shedding light on these ec.l.gic.l.efense strategies, this review emphasizes not only tobacco’s remarkable adaptability in its natural habitatbut also offers insights beneficial for enhancing the resilience of current crops.

Priority Encoder Based on DNA Strand Displacement

The slow development of traditional computing has prompted a search for new materials to replace silicon-based computers. Bio-computers, which use molec.l.s as the basis of computation, are highly parallel and information capable, attracting a lot of attention. In this study, we designed a NAND logic gate based on the DNA strand displacement mechanism. We assembled a molec.l.r c.l.ulation model, a 4-wire-2-wire priority encoder logic circuit, by cascading the proposed NAND gates. Different concentrations of input DNA chains were added into the system, resulting in corresponding output, through DNA hybridization and strand displacement. Therefore, it achieved the function of a priority encoder. Simulation results verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the molec.l.r NAND logic gate and the priority coding system presented in this study. The unique point of this proposed circuit is that we cascaded only one kind of logic gate, which provides a beneficial exploration for the subsequent development of complex DNA cascade circuits and the realization of the logic.l.coding function of information.

long period variable(lPV)stars are very promising distance indicators in the infrared *** selected asymptotic giant branch(AGB)stars in the large and Small Magellanic cloud(lMc and SMc)from the Gaia Data Release 3 lPV catalog,and classified them into oxygen-rich(O-rich)and carbon-rich(c-rich)AGB *** the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer database,we determined the W1-and W2-band period-luminosity relations(PlRs)for each pulsation-mode sequence of AGB *** dispersion of the PlRs of O-rich AGB stars in sequences c'and c is relatively small,around 0.14 *** PlRs of lMc and SMc are consistent in each *** the W2 band,the PlR of large-amplitude c-rich AGB stars is steeper than that of small-amplitude c-rich AGB stars,due to their more circumstellar *** two methods,we find that some PlR sequences of O-rich AGB stars in the lMc are dependent on *** coefficients of the metallicity effect areβ=-0.533±0.213 mag dex~1andβ=-0.767±0.158 mag dex~1for sequence c in W1 and W2 bands,*** significance of the metallicity effect in W1 band for the four sequences is 2.2-3.5σ.Both of these imply that distance measurements using O-rich Mira may need to take the metallicity effect into account.

Efficient Removal of Phosphate from Aqueous Solutions Using corundum-hollow-spheres Supported caclined Hydrotalcite Porous Thin Films

Phosphate was removed from aqueous environment by corundum-hollow-spheres supported caclined hydrotalcite (cHT) thin films. Mg-Al-cO3 hydrotalcite (HT) thin films were deposited on corundumhollow-sphere substrates by hydrothermal homogeneous precipitation at 120℃for 30-240 min and cHT thin films were obtained by annealing of the HT thin films at 500℃for 180 min. Their crystal phase, morphology and microstructure were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The results show that homogeneous, well-crystallized and hierarchic.l.flower-like thin films were deposited firmly on the surface of the corundum. The mechanism of nucleation and growth of the HT thin films was fitted well with the anion coordination polyhedron growth unit model. To determine the absorption of phosphate by this adsorbent, different bed depth (10-30 cm) and flow rate (1.0-3.0 m l/min) were examined by c.l.mn experiments. The highest removal efficiency of phosphate amounted to 98.5%under optimum condition (pH=7.2). The adsorption capacity increased as the bed depth increased and decreased as the flow rate increased.

Sources appointment and health risks of PM_(2.5)-bound trace elements in a coastal city of southeastern china

To gain a comprehensive understanding of sources and health risks of trace elements in an area of china with high population densities and low PM_(2.5)concentrations,15 trace elements(Al,K,ca,Ti,V,cr,Mn,Fe,Ni,cu,Zn,As,Sn,Ba,Pb)in PM_(2.5)were monitored from December 2020 to November 2021 in a representative city,*** concentrations of trace elements in Xiamen displayed an obvious seasonal variation and were dominated by K,Fe,Al,ca and *** on Positive Matrix Factorization analysis,source appointment revealed that the major sources of trace elements in Xiamen were traffic,dust,biomass and firework combustion,industrial manufacture and shipping *** to health risk assessment combined with the source appointment results,it indicated that the average noncarcinogenic risk was below the threshold and cancer risk of four hazardous metals(cr,Ni,As,Pb)exceeded the threshold(10^(-6)).Traffic-related source had almost half amount of contribution to the health risk induced by PM_(2.5)-bound trace *** the dust transport period or Spring Festival period,the health risks exceeded an acceptable threshold even an order of magnitude higher,suggesting that the serious health risks still existed in low PM_(2.5)environment at certain *** risk assessment reminded that the health risk reduction in PM_(2.5)at southeastern china should prioritize traffic-related hazardous trace elements and highlighted the importance of controlling vehicles emissions in the future.

Epidemiology of insertional and midportion Achilles tendinopathy in runners:A prospective cohort study

NSNO:Neumann Series Neural Operator for Solving Helmholtz Equations in Inhomogeneous Medium

In this paper,the authors propose Neumann series neural operator(NSNO)to learn the solution operator of Helmholtz equation from inhomogeneity coefficients and source terms to *** equation is a crucial partial differential equation(PDE)with applications in various scientific and engineering ***,efficient solver of Helmholtz equation is still a big challenge especially in the case of high ***,deep learning has shown great potential in solving PDEs especially in learning solution *** by Neumann series in Helmholtz equation,the authors design a novel network architecture in which U-Net is embedded inside to capture the multisc.l. *** experiments show that the proposed NSNO significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art FNO with at least 60%lower relative l^(2)-error,especially in the large wavenumber case,and has 50%lower computational cost and less data ***,NSNO can be used as the surrogate model in inverse scattering *** tests show that NSNO is able to give comparable results with traditional finite difference forward solver while the computational cost is reduced tremendously.
