Hyperuricemia-mediated uric acid crystal formation may cause joint inflammation and provoke the destruction of joints through the activation of inflammasome-mediated innate immune ***,the immunopathological effects and underlying intracellular regulatory mechanisms of uric acid crystal-mediated activation of fibroblast-like synoviocytes(FLS)in rheumatoid arthritis(RA)have not been ***,we investigated the in vitro effects of monosodium urate crystals,alone or in combination with the inflammatory cytokines tumor-necrosis factor(TNF)-a or interleukin(IL)-1b,on the activation of human FLS from RA patients and normal control subjects and the underlying intracellular signaling mechanisms of treatment with these *** urate crystals were able to significantly increase the release of the inflammatory cytokine IL-6,the chemokine cXcL8 and the matrix metalloproteinase(MMp)-1 from both normal and RA-FLS(all p,0.05).Moreover,the additive or synergistic effect on the release of IL-6,cXcL8 and MMp-1 from both normal and RA-FLS was observed following the combined treatment with monosodium urate crystals and TNF-a or *** experiments showed that the release of the measured inflammatory cytokine,chemokine and MMp-1 stimulated by monosodium urate crystals were differentially regulated by the intracellular activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase and c-Jun N-terminal kinase pathways but not the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase *** results therefore provide a new insight into the uric acid crystal-activated immunopathological mechanisms mediated by distinct intracellular signal transduction pathways leading to joint inflammation in RA.

Three Bi-doped vanadyl pyrophosphate catalysts were prepared via dihydrate route （VpD method）, which consisted of different preparation methods including mechanosynthesis, mechanochemical treatment, and the conventional reflux method. The catalysts produced by the above three methods were characterized by x-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, and temperature programmed reduction （TpR）. catalytic evaluation for the partial oxidation of n-butane to maleic anhydride （MA） was also carried out. The XRD patterns of all the Bi-doped catalysts showed the main peaks of pyrophosphate phase. Lower intensity peaks were observed for the mechanochemically treated Bi-doped catalyst （VpDBiMill） with two additional small peaks corresponding to the presence of a small amount of V5＋ phase. The TpR profiles showed that the highest amount of active oxygen species, i.e, V4＋–O- pair, responsible for n-butane activation, was removed from VpDBiMill. Furthermore, from the catalytic test results, the graph of selectivity to MA as a function of the conversion of n-butane demonstrated that VpDBiMill was the most selective catalyst. This suggests that the mechanochemical treatment of vanadium phosphate catalyst （VpDBiMill） is a potential method to improve the catalytic properties for the partial oxidation of n-butane to maleic anhydride.

A New Macro Model for Traffic Flow on a Highway with Ramps and Numerical Tests

In this paper, we present a new macro model for traffic flow on a highway with ramps based on the existing models. We use the new model to study the effects of on-off-ramp on the main road traffic during the morning rush period and the evening rush period. Numerical tests show that, during the two rush periods, these effects are often different and related to the status of the main road traffic. If the main road traffic flow is uniform, then ramps always produce stop-and-go traffic when the main road density is between two critical values, and ramps have little effect on the main road traffic when the main road density is less than the smaller critical value or greater than the larger critical value. If a small perturbation appears on the main road, ramp may lead to stop-and-go traffic, or relieve or even eliminate the stop-and-go traffic, under different circumstances. These results are consistent with real traffic, which shows that the new model is reasonable.

This paper discusses the spatial and seasonal distribution character of dissolved and paniculate trace metals in the anoxic seawater of Saanich Inlet, B.c., canada. The study showed that concentration of dissolved and paniculate trace metals in anoxic seawater is closely related to (1) the concentration of H2S and the depth of the O2-H2S interface, (2) the exchange of seawater in Saanich Inlet with outside seawater, (3) biotic action, and (4) the flushing event. The study was based in part on the ratio between trace metals and nutrients. There was a steep change in the concentration of dissolved trace metals at the O2-H2S interface. The concentration of dissolved trace metals in the H2S-controlled zone was dependent on the H2S there. The suspended matter in Saanich Inlet comes from the Hero Strait seawater, phytoplankton production and resuspension of flushed-up sediments. The concentration of particulate trace metals was rather low in Saanich Inlet and tended to increase with depth. The total

DNA modiication, methylation of cytosine(5m c), and oxidation of 5m c to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine(5hm c), 5-formylcytosine(5f c), and 5-carboxylcytosine(5ca c) can have profound efects on genome function in animals. hese modiications are intricately involved in DNA methylation reprograming dynamics during mammalian development. Together, they contribute to cell lineage restriction and maintenance, while also undergoing dynamic changes during cellular transitions and induced *** last ive years have seen an intense research focus on enzymatic DNA demethylation, triggered by the discovery of 5hm c and Tet dioxygenases. In this review, we evaluate recent indings that have provided new insights into the mechanisms underlying DNA demethylation and its efect on developmental regulation.

Let f, g: X → Y be maps from a compact infra-nilmanifold X to a compact nilmanifold Y with dim X ≥ dim Y. In this note, we show that a certain Wecken type property holds, i.e., if the Nielsen number N(f, g) vanishes then f and g are deformable to be coincidence free. We also show that if X is a connected finite complex X and the Reidemeister coincidence number R(f, g) = ∞ then f ～ f' so that c(f', g) = {x ∈ X | f'(x) = g(x)} is empty.

A cEE (2.5 m by 16 m) has been used to study the budget of organic production by measuring the changes in pOc/N, oxygen and 14cO, uptake through three-week period. 14c primary production measurements were conducted with 4-hours and 24-hours incubation periods, and with size fractionation. Different types and sizes of bottle effects were examined. Results showed that the oxygen method production was highest, followed by the 14cO2 uptake method, and pOc gain showed the lowest. The value of pQ should be more than 1.7. The ratio of 4-hour incubation to 24-hour incubation was 2.42±0.22, indicating that net daily production is equal to 9.7±0.9 h of illuminated growth. Different types and sizes of bottles had little effect on primary production.
