s.udies.on elec.ro-os.otic.flows.of various.types.of fluids.in mic.oc.annel are of great importanc. owing to their multifold applic.tions.in the trans.ort of liquids. partic.larly when the ionized liquid flows.with res.ec. to a c.arged s.rfac. in the pres.nc. of an external elec.ric.field. In the c.s. of vis.0}elas.ic.fluids. the volumetric.flow rate differs.s.gnific.ntly from that of Newtonian fluids. even when the flow takes.plac. under the s.me pres.ure gradient and the s.me elec.ric.field. With this.end in view, this.paper is.devoted to a s.udy c.nc.rning the flow pattern of an elec.ro-os.otic.flow in a porous.mic.oc.annel, whic. is.under the ac.ion of an alternating elec.ric.field. The influenc. of various.rheologic.l and elec.ro-os.otic.parameters. e.g., the Reynolds.number, Debye-Huc.el parameter, s.ape fac.or and fluid vis.0}elas.ic.ty on the kinematic. of the fluid, has.been inves.igated for a s.c.ndgrade vis.0}elas.ic.fluid. The problem is.firs. treated by us.ng analytic.l methods. but the quantitative es.imates.are obtained numeric.lly with the help of the s.ftware MATHEMATIc.. The res.lts.pres.nted here are applic.ble to the c.s.s.where the c.annel height is.muc. greater than the thic.nes. of the elec.ric.l double layer c.mpris.ng the s.ern and diffus. layers. The s.udy reveals.that a larger value of the Debye-Huc.el parameter c.eates.s.arper profile near the wall and als. that the veloc.ty of elec.ro-os.otic.flow inc.eas.s.as.the permeability of the porous.mic.oc.annel is.enhanc.d. The s.udy further s.ows.that the elec.ro-os.otic.flow dominates.at lower values.of Reynolds.number. The res.lts.pres.nted here will be quite us.ful to validate the obs.rvations.of experimental inves.igations.on the c.arac.eris.ic. of elec.ro-os.otic.flows.and als. the res.lts.of c.mplex numeric.l models.that are nec.s.ary to deal with more realis.ic.s.tuations. where elec.ro-os.otic.flows.c.me into the pic.ure, as.in blood flow in the mic.o-c.rc.latory s.s.em s.bjec. to an elec.

The underlying proc.s. models.explic.tly ac.ount for c.mpartmentalization of the fluidized bed into a granulation and a drying zone, whic. is.an important feature of many tec.nic.l proc.s.es. Buc.ling res.rained brac.s.（BRBs. have been widely applied in s.is.ic.mitigation s.nc. they were introduc.d in the 1970s. However, traditional BRBs.have s.veral dis.dvantages.c.us.d by us.ng a s.eel tube to envelope the mortar to prevent the c.re plate from buc.ling, s.c. as. c.mplex interfac.s.between the materials.us.d, unc.rtain prec.s.on, and time c.ns.mption during the manufac.uring proc.s.es. In this.s.udy, a new devic. c.lled the multi-c.rve buc.ling res.rained brac. （Mc.BRB） is.propos.d to overc.me thes. dis.dvantages. The new devic. c.ns.s.s.of a c.re plate with multiple nec. portions.as.embled to form multiple energy dis.ipation s.gments. and the enlarged s.gment, lateral s.pport elements.and c.ns.raining elements.to prevent the BRB from buc.ling. The enlarged s.gment loc.ted in the middle of the c.re plate c.n be welded to the lateral s.pport and c.ns.raining elements.to inc.eas. buc.ling res.s.anc. and to prevent them from s.iding during earthquakes. c.mponent tes.s.and a s.ries.of s.aking table tes.s.on a full-s.0}le s.eel s.ruc.ure equipped with Mc.BRBs.were c.rried out to inves.igate the behavior and c.pability of this.new BRB des.gn for s.is.ic.mitigation. The experimental res.lts.illus.rate that the Mc.BRB pos.es.es.a s.able mec.anic.l behavior under c.c.ic.loadings.and provides.good protec.ion to s.ruc.ures.during earthquakes. Als., a mathematic.l model has.been developed to s.mulate the mec.anic.l c.arac.eris.ic. of BRBs.

Floating platform s.s.em has.been extens.vely us.d in oc.an exploitation, partic.larly for a tens.on-leg platform （TLP） s.s.em in deep water. Mos. of the TLPs.are multi-mooring s.s.ems. where multi-joints.are c.nnec.ed to the tens.on-legs.s. that the platform is.not allowed to twis. freely and may s.bjec. to enormous.forc. induc.d by large inc.dent waves.in the weak-direc.ion of the s.ruc.ure. This.s.udy aims.to exploit a s.ngle moored offs.ore platform s.s.em that may attrac. les. forc. and c.n be operated with les. effort. In our analys.s. in addition to mec.anic.l properties.of the tether, two important properties.are als. taken into c.ns.deration for the s.ngle mooring tether with expanded c.os. s.c.ional dimens.on and utilization of s.ronger material, namely, the s.g-extens.bility and the flexural rigidity. Finally, the dynamic.s.ruc.ural behavior produc.d by the mec.anic.l effec.s.on the new s.s.em is.inves.igated and c.mpared with that of traditional des.gn while the wave-s.ruc.ure interac.ions.of large body are als. ac.ounted for. Our s.udy finds.that the neglec. of s.g-extens.bility or the flexural rigidity of large, s.rong mooring c.ble may res.lt in a c.ns.rvative but not nec.s.arily s.fe des.gn.

A dynamic.two-zone model is.propos.d to addres. the formation of granulation and drying zones.in fluidized bed layering granulation proc.s.es.with internal produc. c.as.ific.tion. The model as.umes.a c.ns.ant volume for the granulation zone, but a variable overall volume for the fluidized bed to ac.ount for c.as.ified produc. removal. The model is.us.d to s.udy the effec. of various.proc.s. parameters.on dynamic. and proc.s. s.ability. s.ability is.s.own to depend on the s.paration diameter of produc. removal and the flow rate of the injec.ed liquid. A lower and upper range of s.paration diameters.with s.able proc.s. behavior are found. In an intermediate range ins.ability in the form of s.lf-s.s.ained os.0}llations.is.obs.rved. The lower s.ability boundary is.in qualitative agreement with rec.nt experimental obs.rvations.（s.0}midt, Büc., ＆ Ts.ts.s. 2015）; the upper boundary was.reported in a theoretic.l paper by Vreman, Van Lare, and Houns.ow （2009） bas.d on a s.ngle zone model.

In this.paper, a new c.r-following model is.pres.nted, taking into ac.ount the antic.pation of potential lane c.anging by the leading vehic.e. The s.ability c.ndition of the model is.obtained by us.ng the linear s.ability theory. The modified Korteweg-de Vries.（KdV） equation is.c.ns.ruc.ed and s.lved, and three types.of traffic.flow in the headway-s.ns.tivity s.ac., namely s.able, metas.able and uns.able ones. are c.as.ified. Both the analytic.l and s.mu- lation res.lts.s.ow that anxiety about lane c.anging does.indeed have an influenc. on driving behavior and that a c.ns.deration of lane c.anging probability in the c.r-following model c.uld s.abilize traffic.flows. The quantitative relations.ip between s.ability improvement and lane c.anging probability is.als. inves.igated.

In this.paper, the two-lane traffic.are s.udied by us.ng the lane-c.anging rules.in the c.r-following models. The s.mulation s.ow that the frequent lane c.anging oc.urs.when the lateral dis.anc. in c.r following ac.ivities.is.c.ns.dered and it gives.ris. to os.0}llating waves. In c.ntras., if the lateral dis.anc. is.not c.ns.dered （or c.ns.dered oc.as.onally）, the lane c.anging appears.infrequently and s.liton waves.oc.urs. This.implies.that the s.abilization mec.anis. no longer func.ions.when the lane c.anging is.permitted. s.nc. the os.0}llating and s.liton waves.c.rres.ond to the uns.able and metas.able flow regimes. res.ec.ively, our s.udy verifies.that a phas. trans.tion may oc.ur as.a res.lt of the lane c.anging.
