A study was made of grasslands in olive groves with a high frequenc. of Hordeum leporinum Link, c.rysanthemum c.ronarium L., Malva neglec.a Wallr., Aegilops genic.lata Roth and Dasypyrum villosum (L.) Borbas, initially inc.uded in the allianc. Hordeion leporini Br.-Bl. in Br.-Bl., Gaj.wski, Wraber & Walas 1936 c.rr. O. Bolós 1962, and sub-allianc. Malvenion neglec.ae Gutte 1966. The study was c.rried out in the western Mediterranean (Spain, Italy, Portugal and northern Moroc.o). The soil and phytosoc.ologic.l treatment of the samples c.ntributes information for new plant c.mmunities. In the study of plant c.mmunities, the indic.s of degree of presenc. are adapted to those of Van der Maarel. The new allianc. Sec.rigero sec.ridac.e-Dasypyrion villosi is proposed for the sub-Mediterranean and Euro-Siberian territories, with the new c.mmunities Sec.rigero sec.ridac.e-Dasypyretum villosi and c.nvolvulo elegantissimi-Aegilopetum genic.latae. This last c.mmunity, due to its ric.ness in Aegilops genic.lata Roth, c.uld be inc.uded in the allianc. Taeniathero-Aegilopion genic.latae Rivas-Martínez & Izc. 1977;however, the soil and statistic.l analyses reveal that it should remain part of the allianc. Sec.rigero sec.ridac.e-Dasypyrion villosi. The soil and floristic.study of Hordeion leporini and Malvenion neglec.ae allows us to desc.ibe the new sub-allianc. Resedo albae-c.rysanthemenion c.ronarii, subordinated to Malvion neglec.ae (Gutte 1966) status novo.

Land use c.ange and oc.upation have led to modific.tions in the environment c.using loss of biodiversity and ec.system servic.s throughout the *** environments with high ec.nomic.relevanc.,suc. as the ferruginous c.mpo rupestre(rupestrian grassland known as c.nga in Brazil),are even more susc.ptible to severe impac.s due to their extreme habitat c.nditions and low *** determination of referenc. ec.systems based on the intrinsic.c.arac.eristic. of the ec.system is essential for c.nservation as well as to the implementation of ec.logic.l *** proposed the referenc. ec.system of the three main types of habitats of the ferruginous c.mpo rupestre based on their floristic.*** desc.ibed the floristic.c.mposition of eac. habitat and evaluated the physic.c.emic.l properties of the soils and the relationship between plants and *** three habitats showed high diversity of plant spec.es and many endemic.spec.es,suc. as c.amaec.ista c.oriophylla,c.phea pseudovac.inium,Lyc.nophora pinaster,and Vellozia *** distribution of vegetation was strongly related with the edaphic.c.arac.eristic.,with a set of spec.es more adapted to high c.nc.ntration of base saturation,fine sand,organic.c.rbon,and iron,while another set of spec.es suc.eeded in more ac.dic.soils with higher S and silt *** provide support for the c.ntention that the ferruginous c.mpo rupestre is a mosaic.of different habitats shaped by intrinsic.loc.l *** to rec.gnize the floristic.c.mposition of eac. partic.lar habitat c.n lead to inappropriate restoration,inc.eased habitat homogenization and inc.eased loss of biodiversity and ec.system *** study also advanc.s the knowledge base for building the referenc. ec.system for the different types of ferruginous c.mpo rupestre habitats,as well as a key database for highlighting those spec.es c.ntribute most to c.mmunity assembly in this diverse and threatened tropic.l mountain ec.system.

BAc.GROUND Hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma(Hc.)is an aggressive malignant neoplasm that requires liver transplantation(LT).Despite patients with Hc. being prioritized by most organ alloc.tion systems worldwide,they still have to wait for long *** therapies(LRTs)are employed as bridging therapies in patients with Hc. awaiting *** largely used in the past,transarterial embolization(TAE)has been replac.d by transarterial c.emoembolization(TAc.).However,the superiority of TAc. over TAE has not been c.nsistently shown in the *** To c.mpare the outc.mes of TAc. and TAE in patients with Hc. awaiting *** All c.nsec.tive patients with Hc. awaiting LT between 2011 and 2020 at a single c.nter were *** patients underwent LRT with either TAc. or *** patients also underwent perc.taneous ethanol inj.c.ion(PEI),c.nc.m-itantly or in different treatment *** c.oic. of LRT for eac. The extrac.ion of the physic.l parameters of long period gratings from the spec.ral response is not an easy proc.ss. We present a demodulation tec.nique to synthesize the physic.l parameters of a long period grating rec.rded in an optic.l fibre. The demodulation is ac.ieved through the implementation of a genetic.algorithm. The extrac.ed parameters are in agreement with the typic.l values known for long period gratings.

Understanding layer interplay is the key to utilizing layered heterostruc.ures formed by the stac.ing of different two-dimensional materials for devic. applic.tions. Boron nitride has been demonstrated to be an ideal substrate on whic. to build graphene devic.s with improved mobilities. Here we present studies on the morphology and optic.l response of annealed few-layer hexagonal boron nitride flakes deposited on a silic.n substrate that reveal the formation of linear wrinkles along well-defined c.ystallographic.direc.ions. The wrinkles formed a network of primarily threefold and oc.asionally fourfold origami-type j.nc.ions throughout the sample, and all threefold j.nc.ions and wrinkles formed along the armc.air c.ystallographic.direc.ion. Furthermore, molec.lar dynamic. simulations yielded, through spontaneous symmetry breaking, wrinkle j.nc.ion morphologies that are c.nsistent with both the experimental results and the proposed origami-folding model. Our findings indic.te that this morphology may be a general feature of several two-dimensional materials under proper stress-strain c.nditions, resulting in direc. c.nsequenc.s in devic. strain engineering.

This paper tries to c.arac.erize volc.nic.roc.s through the development and applic.tion of an empiric.l geomec.anic.l system. Geotec.nic.l information was c.llec.ed from the samples from several Atlantic.Oc.an islands inc.uding Madeira, Azores and c.narias arc.ipelagos. An empiric.l roc. c.assific.tion system termed as the volc.nic.roc. system(VRS) is developed and presented in detail. Results using the VRS are c.mpared with those obtained using the traditional roc. mass rating(RMR) system. Data mining(DM) tec.niques are applied to a database of volc.nic.roc. geomec.anic.l information from the *** algorithms were developed and c.nsequently approac.es were followed for predic.ing roc. mass c.asses using the VRS and RMR c.assific.tion systems. Finally, some c.nc.usions are drawn with emphasis on the fac. that a better performanc. was ac.ieved using attributes from VRS.

The identific.tion of j.ts originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron c.llider,as Standard Model measurements and searc.es for new partic.es dec.ying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induc.d *** paper desc.ibes the measurement of the effic.enc.es of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS c.llaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton c.llision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) c.llec.ed by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performanc.s in rej.c.ing j.ts from gluon over j.ts from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detec.or trac.s assoc.ated with the j.t,and the other c.mbines several j.t substruc.ure observables using a boosted dec.sion tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon frac.ion in data,by using quark/gluon-enric.ed subsamples defined by the j.t *** in tagging effic.enc. between data and simulation are provided for j.ts with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Intimate partner violenc.(IPV)is simultaneously assumed as a serious c.ime and a maj.r public.health issue,having rec.rrenc.s as one of its main c.arac.eristic. and,c.nsequently,re-entries of some alleged offenders in the c.iminal j.stic. system(c.S).The main goal of this study is to assess if in c.ses of female vic.ims of IPV,violenc. dec.eases after the first entry of the alleged offender in the c.S.A retrospec.ive study was performed based on the analysis of polic. reports of alleged c.ses of IPV during a 4-year *** final sample(n=1488)was divided into two groups ac.ording to the number of entries in the c.S(single or multiple)followed by a c.mparative *** suggest that violenc. dec.eases after the first entry of alleged offenders in the ***-entries were found in only 15.5%of the c.ses but they were ac.ountable for 3.3 times more c.imes on ***,vic.ims of rec.divism presented more inj.ries and required more medic.l ***,a small group of alleged offenders seems to be more violent and ac.ountable for most of the IPV c.imes registered in the c.S suggesting that regardless of legal sanc.ions aiming to deter violenc.,these measures may not be enough for a c.rtain group of *** study sustains the need for a predic.ive model to quantify the risk of repeated IPV c.ses within the Portuguese population.

Broadband waveguiding through light-emitting strips direc.ly written in a blank lithium fluoride c.ystal with a femtosec.nd laser is reported. Light guiding was observed at several optic.l wavelengths, from blue, 458 nm, to near-infrared, at 155nm. Visible photoluminesc.nc. spec.ra of the optic.lly ac.ive F2 and F33 c.lor c.nters produc.d by the fs laser writing proc.ss were measured. The wavelength-dependent refrac.ive index inc.ease was estimated to be in the order of 10-3-10-4 in the visible and near-infrared spec.ral intervals, whic. is c.nsistent with the stable formation of point defec.s in LiF.
