Perspective Ensuring food security for a rapidly growing world population will need new *** include speed breeding and new breeding technologies,which have been established for major staple *** of woody perennial fruit tree species has progressed at a much slower pace and has met many *** fruit production will face major challenges with climate change,such as the loss of winter chilling needed for f lowering,a potential decrease in pollinator availability,and increasing pest and disease *** chinensis(kiwifruit)is an important fresh fruit crop,with varieties only several generations removed from the wild accessions and carrying only a fraction of the available genetic diversity[1,2].Improvement of traits such as fruit quality and storage,and resistance to emergent diseases underpin the breeding efforts,which are hampered by a long generation time,large plant size,dependence on chilling for budbreak and f lowering,dioecy and different ploidy *** addition to kiwifruit,the genus Actinidia consists of more than 50 species with edible fruit,all showing tremendous potential as future fruit crops[3].Their fast domestication and improvement will enable production of high-quality healthy fruit,contributing to food security in the changing climate conditions.

我省果园空地野草资源丰富,具有生长季节性优势。1982～1985年的调查表明:七个县区可供压青的野草面积达234.4万亩,年产鲜草353.3万吨。7～8月份产草量最高,养分集中,茎/叶值为0.85～1.30,c/N值为19～26,N达0.79～2.35％,是刈草的最佳季节。压1吨鲜草,相当施用173公斤化肥。因此开发利用果园空地野草资源,是改善果园土壤肥力,提高果树生产力的经济有效措施。

苹果果实表面积的一种新测算方法

本文提出一个描述苹果果实的数学模型，基于此模型推导出计算苹果果实表面积的新方法．只需测知果实纵径、横径、梗洼深和萼洼深，即可利用新方法计算出果实表面积，且测算精度高，其平均测算误差仅约1.5％．

Natural fibers can play a major role in composite industry due to its renewable, biodegradable, and eco-friendly properties. Areca fruit Husk （AFH） is rich in fiber, but is wasted in large quantity from tobacco industries. comprehensive characterization of AFH fiber is done to examine its morphological, physical, mechanical, chemical and thermal properties. High cellulose content of the fiber （57.35 wt%） provides better tensile strength （231.66 MPa） whereas the porous surface morphology （40.8 %） ensures better bonding with the matrix. Moreover, the low density of the fiber （0.78 ***^-3） makes it an attractive alternative for hazardous synthetic fibers. The semi-crystalline nature and large crystalline size of the fiber reduce the water absorption char- acteristics. The thermo gravimetric analysis confirms its stability up to 240℃, which is higher than the polymerization tem- perature. The results confirm the potential of AFH fibers as a reinforcement in bio-reinforced polymer composites for automo- tive and structural applications.

Effects of Water and Nitrogen Supply on Spinach(Spinacia oleracea L.) Growth and Soil Mineral N Residues

The inactivation of Escherichia coli in cloudy apple juice by dense phase carbon dioxide (DPcD)was *** cO2 at 20 MPa and 37℃ or at 30 MPa and 42℃,the inactivation of E. coli significantly increased (p＜0.05)with increasing the exposure time,which conformed with a fast-to-slow two-stage *** two stages were well fitted to first-order *** temperature or pressure significantly enhanced the bactericidal effect of DPcD(p＜0.05),the maximum reduction was 7.66 log cFU at 45 MPa and 52℃ for 30 *** survival curves against temperature or pressure were fitted using a linear equation with high regression coefficients(R2＞0.94).The temperature inactivation rate(kT)and pressure inactivation rate(kp)were *** kT or kp indicated higher susceptibility of *** to temperature or ***,there was good linear correlation of kt with pressure(R2=1.00).Also,kp increased with increasing temperature except for 37℃.Greater inactivation of *** was obtained with 99.9% cO2 than with 99.5% cO2 or with the initial number of 105 cFU/ml than with that of 108 cFU/ml at 20MPa and 37℃.

Effects of conventional and optimized water and nitrogen managements on spinach (Spinacia olerocea L.)growth and soil mineral N (Nmi.) residues were compared in an open field experiment in which water balancemethod and N recommendation with the KNS-system were included. It was shown that the conventionalwater treatment (seasonal irrigated amount: 175 mm) reduced spinach growth compared to the water balancetreatments (seasonal irrigated amount: 80 and 85 mm) at the same N supply level due to N loss throughleaching caused by excessive water supply. Although 309 kg N ha-1 was applied in the conventional Ntreatment, compared to 82 and 66 kg N ha-l in the optimum N treatments, no significant difference in cropyield was investigated between the N treatments with the same irrigation practice. N uptake in spinach andsoil residual Nmin contents were also significantly affected by the irrigation practices. The conventional watersupply not only decreased water use efficiency, but also
