The scope of the present research aims at demonstrating the 3D printing use in the manufacturing of microchannels for chemical process applications. A comparison among digital model processing applications for 3D print(slicers) and a print layer thickness analysis were performed. The 3D print fidelity was verified in several devices, including the microchannels’ printing with and without micromixer zones. In order to highlight the 3D print potential in chemical Engineering, the biodiesel synthesis was also carried out in a millireactor manufactured by 3D printing. The millireactor operated under laminar flow regime with a total flow rate of 75.25 ml·min^-1(increment of about 130 times over traditional microdevices used for biodiesel production).The printed millireactor provided a maximum yield of Ethyl Esters of 73.51% at 40 ℃, ethanol:oil molar ratio of7 and catalyst concentration of 1.25 wt% and residence time about 10 s. As a result of flow rate increment attained in the millireactor, the number of required units for scaling-up the chemical processes is reduced. Using the approach described in the present research, anyone could produce their own millireactor for chemical process in a simple way with the aid of a 3D printer.

Objective To assess the influence of age on the error of estimate （EE） of maximal oxygen uptake （VO2max） using sex and population specific-equations in cycle ergometer exercise testing, since estimated VO2 max is associated with a substantial EE, often exceeding 20%, possibly due to intrinsic variability of mechanical efficiency. Methods 1850 adults （68% men）, aged 18 to 91 years, underwent maximal cycle ergometer cardiopulmonary exercise testing. cardiorespiratory fitness （cRF） was assessed relative to sex and age [younger （18 to 35 years）, middle-aged （36 to 60 years） and older （〉 60 years）]. VO2max [mL.（***）-1] was directly measured by assessment of gas exchange and estimated using sex and population specific-equations. Measured and estimated values of VO2max and related EE were compared among the three age- and sex-specific groups. Results Directly measured VO2max of men and women were 29.5 ± 10.5 mL.（***）-1 and 24.2 ± 9.0 mL.（kg·min） -1 （P 〈 0.01）. EE [mL·（kg·min）-1] and percent errors （%E） for men and women had similar values, 0.5 ± 3.2 and 0.4 ± 2.9 mL·（kg·min）-1, and -0.8 ± 13.1% and -1.7 ± 15.4% （P 〉 0.05）, respectively. EE and %E for each age-group were, respectively, for men： younger = 1.9 ± 4.1 mL·（kg·min）-1 and 3.8 ± 10.5%, middle-aged = 0.6 ± 3.1 mL.（kg·min）-1 and 0.4 ± 10.3%, older = -0.2 ± 2.7 mL·（kg·min） -1 and -4.2 ± 16.6% （P 〈 0.01）; and for women： younger = 1.2 ± 3.1 mL.（***）-1 and 2.7 ±10.0%, middle-aged = 0.7 ± 2.8 mL·（kg·min）-1 and 0.5 ± 11.1%, older = -0.8 ± 2.3 mL-（kg·min）-1 and -9.5 ± 22.4% （P 〈 0.01）. conclusion VO2max were underestimated in younger age-groups and were overestimated in older age groups. Age significantly influences the magnitude of the EE of VO2max in both men and women and should be considered when cRF is estimated using population specific equations, rather than directly measured.

Objective:To evaluate the photoprotective,antioxidant,antiglycation,and antiacne activities of crude extract(cEss)and triterpene saponin fraction(Tsss)of sapindus ***:HPLc-Ms purification was performed on a symmetry TM c18 *** saponins were identified by a UV *** activity was evaluated by DPPH and O_(2)^(−)radicals scavenging,and FRAP and TBARs *** activity was assessed by relative electrophoretic mobility and inhibition of advanced glycation end products(AgEs)***,antiacne activity was determined by inhibition of cutibacterium acnes,and photoprotective effect was evaluated by Mansur’s ***:Most of the triterpene saponins detected in the fraction by HPLc-Ms analysis were hederagenin as the *** and Tsss presented varying antioxidant activity in DPPH(cEss:75.69%and Tsss:83.65%),FRAP(cEss:425.39μM TE/g DW and Tsss:649.36μM TE/g DW),TBARs(cEss:42.96%and Tsss:52.16%)and O_(2)^(−)radicals scavenging(cEss:61.33%and Tsss:86.69%)*** and Tsss also exhibited antiglycation activity comparable to bovine serum albumin treated with *** addition,cEss and Tsss showed inhibition of AgE formation(34.48%and 61.85%,respectively).Antiacne activity against cutibacterium acnes was observed with a minimum inhibitory concentration equal to minimum bactericidal concentration(cEss:36.11µg/mL and Tsss:18.34µg/mL).In photoprotective assays,cEss and Tsss showed maximum absorbance of 1.42 to 0.20 and 2.80 to 1.30,respectively,in the wavelength range of 260 to 400 ***,cEss and Tsss showed sun protection factors of 8.89 and 14.89,***:sapindus saponaria fruit extracts show strong antioxidant potential and antiglycation activity against bovine serum albumin glycation and AgE ***,they presented antibacterial activity against cutibacterium acnes and photoprotective effect against UV-A and UV-B.

ground penetrating radar (gPR) surveys have being applied to investigate very near-surface stratification of sedimentary units in coastal plains and to define their depositional conditions. This paper presents, however, low-frequency gPR survey to investigate fault-related depositional systems at greater depths. The Quinta-cassino area in the Rio grande do sul coastal Plain (RgscP, Brazil) shows a wide strandplain that is made off by very long, continuous, and linear geomorphic features (beach ridges). This strandplain extends for ~70 km southward. The beach ridges show low-angle truncations against the Quinta escarpment, and also truncations in the strandplain. The traditional approach points that RgscP was developed by juxtaposition of four lagoons/barrier systems as consequence of sea level changes;previous model assumes that no deformational episode occurred in RgscP. The geophysical and geological surveys carried out in this area showed the existence of listric fault controlling the beach ridges in the escarpments and hanging-wall blocks. The radargrams could distinguish Pleistocene basement unit anticlockwise rotation, thickening of beach ridges radarfacies close to listric normal faults, and horst structures. These deformational features indicate that the extensional zone of a large-scale gravity-driven structure controlled the mechanical subsidence, the Holocene sedimentation and its stratigraphic and geomorphic features in the Quinta-cassino area to build up an asymmetric delta. The results point to a new approach in dealing with RgscP Holocene evolution.

Androgen deficiency is strongly associated with erectile dysfunction （ED）. Inadequate penile arterial blood flow is one of the major causes of ED. The blood flow to the corpus cavernosum is mainly derived from the internal pudendal arteries （IPAs）; however, no study has evaluated the effects of androgen deprivation on IPA＇s function. We hypothesized that castration impairs IPAs reactivity and structure, contributing to ED. In our study, Wistar male rats, 8-week-old, were castrated and studied 30 days after orchiectomy. Functional and structural properties of rat IPAs were determined using wire and pressure myograph systems, respectively. Protein expression was determined by Western blot and immunohistochemistry. Plasma testosterone levels were determined using the IMMULITE 1000 Immunoassay system. castrated rats exhibited impaired erectile function, represented by decreased intracavernosal pressure/mean arterial pressure ratio. IPAs from castrated rats exhibited decreased phenylephrine- and electrical field stimulation （EFs）-induced contraction and decreased acetylcholine- and EFs-induced vasodilatation. IPAs from castrated rats exhibited decreased internal diameter, external diameter, thickness of the arterial wall, and cross-sectional area. castration decreased nNOs and α-actin expression and increased collagen expression, p38 （Thr180/ryr182） phosphorylation, as well as caspase 3 cleavage. In conclusion, androgen deficiency is associated with impairment of IPA reactivity and structure and increased apoptosis signaling markers. Our findings suggest that androgen deficiency-induced vascular dysfunction is an event involving hypotrophic vascular remodeling of IPAs.

Laser surface texturing is a versatile approach for manufacturing implants with suitable surfaces for *** work explores the use of laser to fabricate NiTi textured implants,testing two dif-ferent groove-based *** performance was evaluated in vivo through implantation in sprague Dawley rats’femur,being then analyzed after 4 and 12 weeks of ***-out experiments and histological characterization allowed to assess bone-implant bond and osseointegration and to compare the laser textured solutions with non-textured *** showed that,at 4 weeks of implantation,mainly immature woven bone was present whilst at 12 weeks a more mature bone had ***-sidering the largest implantation time(12 weeks),results showed extraction forces considerably higher for textured implants(g2 and g3).Moreover,when comparing g2 and g3,it was found that g2(having the highest textured surface area)displayed the maximum extraction force among all groups,with an increase of 212%when compared to non-textured implants(g1).These results prove that the design and manufacturing technology are effective to promote an im-proved bone-implant bond,aiming the development of orthopedic implants.
