Synthesis of Nanostructured Copper-doped Titania and Its Properties

Nanostructured pure-Ti O_2 and Cu3%-Ti O_2 were successfully synthesized via co-precipitation method. The X-ray diffraction(XRD) result proves that the synthesized sample were predominantly in anatase phase with size in the range of 8～16 nm, which are in good agreement with the transmission electron microscopy data. Owing to doping of copper, not only did the thermal stability of the Ti O_2 decrease, but also a significant decrease in its particle size and a shift of the adsorption edge to a higher wavelength region appear. The activity of both pure-Ti O_2 and Cu3%-doped Ti O_2 was tested to study their ability to decolorize congo red(CR) dye in aqueous solution. We observed that the CR dye was decolorized faster by Cu3%-Ti O_2 than pure-Ti O_2. Results of this study demonstrate a potential application of the synthesized sample for decolorizing dye pollutants from aqueous waste.

Human disturbances to soils can lead to dramatic changes in soil physical,chemical,and biological *** influence of agricultural activities on the bacterial community over different orders of soil and at depth is still not well *** used the concept of genoform and phenoform to investigate the vertical(down to 1 m depth)soil bacterial community structure in paired genosoils(undisturbed forests)and phenosoils(cultivated vineyards)in different soil *** study was conducted in the Hunter Valley area,New South Wales,Australia,where samples were collected from 3 different soil orders(Calcarosol,Chromosol,and Kurosol),and each soil order consists of a pair of genosoil and *** bacterial community structure was analyzed using highthroughput sequencing of 16S *** showed that bacterial-diversity decreased with depth in phenosoils,however,the trend is less obvious in genoform *** diversity was greater in phenosoils than genosoils,but the trend was reversed in ***,cropping not only affected topsoil bacteria community but also decreased its diversity in the *** community in topsoils was influenced by both soil orders and soil forms,however,in subsoils it was more impacted by soil *** Analysis of Principal Coordinates revealed that cropping increased the similarity of bacterial structures of different soil *** study highlighted the strong influence of agricultural activities on soil microbial distribution with depth,which is controlled by soil order.

Comparison of the Refraction Precision Results between Pentacam AXL and IOL Master 700 Using Universal II Barrett Formula after Cataract Surgery

Background: The availability of premium intraocular lenses (IOL), including toric, multifocal, and EDOF, has become very sophisticated and now demands accurate biometric measurement accuracy. The Pentacam AXL and IOL Master 700 are often used for optical biometry and they are available in the market today. They can also be used to measure the parameters needed in the IOL calculation using the latest generation formulas, such as the Barett Universal II. Therefore, this study aims to compare the accuracy of refraction results between Pentacam AXL compared to IOL Master 700 after cataract surgery with the Barett Universal-II formula. Method: A total of 64 eyes from 64 patients who had a preoperative examination with IOL Master 700 and Pentacam AXL were included in this study. Parameters such as K, ACD, LT, WTW, and AL were then compared between the two tools. Prediction error values were also calculated and compared based on the difference between the Spherical equivalent (SE) of subjective refraction results after 4 weeks of surgery with their refractive prediction targets. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in the parameters measured from the two tools except ACD and WTW. Furthermore, LT was difficult to obtain on the Pentacam AXL due to penetration problems, as well as in patients with significant lens opacities. The percentage of error prediction values that reach ± 0.50 D on Pentacam AXL and IOL Master 700 was 70.3% and 73.5%, respectively. However, the average prediction error that was close to emmetropia with IOL Master 700 was greater compared to the other tool. Conclusion: Pentacam AXL has a fairly good accuracy for refraction prediction compared to IOL Master 700. However, it is still necessary to optimize its constants to obtain optimal results.

Digital maps of soil properties are now widely ***-users now can access several digital soil mapping(DSM)products of soil properties,produced using different models,calibration/training data,and covariates at various spatial scales from global to ***,there is an urgent need to provide easy-to-understand tools to communicate map uncertainty and help end-users assess the reliability of DSM products for use at local *** this study,we used a large amount of hand-feel soil texture(HFST)data to assess the performance of various published DSM products on the prediction of soil particle size distribution in Central *** tested four DSM products for soil texture prediction developed at various scales(global,continental,national,and regional)by comparing their predictions with approximately 3200 HFST observations realized on a 1:50000 soil survey conducted after release of these DSM *** used both visual comparisons and quantitative indicators to match the DSM predictions and HFST *** comparison between the low-cost HFST observations and DSM predictions clearly showed the applicability of various DSM products,with the prediction accuracy increasing from global to regional *** simple evaluation can determine which products can be used at the local scale and if more accurate DSM products are required.

The Effects of Anterior Chamber Depth to Endothelial Cell Loss Using Tranversal Phacoemulsification

Background: Phacoemulsification surgery is the most frequent cataract surgery performed in developed countries because of its effectiveness and safety. However, some degree of endothelial loss is inevitable in any type of cataract surgery, including phacoemulsification. Anterior chamber depth (ACD) could be considered as one of important anatomical parameters for preserving endothelial loss from the mechanical and thermal damage that can occur during the procedure. Purpose: To evaluate the effects of ACD on endothelial cell density, hexagonality, coefficient variation (CV) and central corneal thickness (CCT) at one and four weeks after phacoemulsification using transversal ultrasound. Method: This was a prospective study conducted at Cicendo National Eye Hospital Indonesia from April to August 2018, where we performed phacoemulsification in 148 patients with ACD Result: Mean (SD) endothelial density in ACD Conclusion: Endothelial cell density in ACD < 3 mm group was significantly lower compared to ACD ≥ 3 mm group at 1-week and 4-week evaluation after phacoemulsification.

Emergency evacuation system for mines

There are many potential hazards in the underground mining these include fire, explosion, inundation, roof collapse, toxic gases, chemical pollution, etc. Over past centuries, in US alone, more than 100 000 miners lost their life in different accidents. The primary safety methods used in underground mines concentrate on the monitoring of the hazardous gases, fire detection and ventilation. Using advanced instruments and monitoring techniques have significantly reduced the accidents in the modern mines. However despite the advancement of these monitoring facilities, accidents still occur in underground mining annually in the world, and many miners were killed because they were trapped and unable to escape due to blocked of exit access. Described a new development for the emergency evacuation system in underground mines and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the system. It is expected that the new system will greatly improve the emergency exit methods and save more lives in the future.

Safety and Efficacy of Artisan Aphakia Iris-Claw Intraocular Lens in Tertiary Hospital in Indonesia

Introduction: Iris-claw Intraocular Lens (IOL) is one of the alternatives to correct aphakia without sufficient capsular support. This technique is preferred because it has a simple procedure. Iris-claw IOL was originally designed to be fixated on the anterior chamber. The use of retropupillary fixation is increasing because the location is more physiologic and it shows less risk to corneal endothelial damage. Purpose: To describe safety and efficacy of iris-claw Artisan IOL in correcting aphakia without sufficient capsular support. Methods: This is a descriptive retrospective study of patients with aphakic iris-claw Artisan IOL implantation in National Eye Center Cicendo Eye Hospital, Indonesia from July 2017-July 2019. Patients were divided into prepupillary and retropupillary group. The Uncorrected Visual Acuity (UCVA), Best-Corrected Visual Acuity (BCVA), Safety Index (SI), Efficacy Index (EI), and complications were recorded. The procedure is safe if SI value ≥ 1.0 and effective if EI value ≥ 1.0. Results: There were 54 eyes in the retropupilary group and 17 eyes in the prepupillary group. In the prepupillary group, there were 94.11% eyes with SI ≥ 1.0, the mean SI was 1.79 ± 1.02, 50% of eyes with EI ≥ 1.0, and the mean EI was 0.77 ± 0.20. In the retropupillary group, there were 96.29% eyes with SI ≥ 1.0, the mean SI was 2.49 ± 2.23, 74.07% of eyes with EI ≥ 1.0, and the mean EI was 1.75 ± 1.64. Postoperative UCVA and BCVA were improved significantly compared to preoperative visual acuity in both groups (p Conclusion: Prepupillary and retropupillary iris-claw IOL implantation are safe. Retropupillary fixation technique is more effective in improving visual acuity.

Growth of GaN Thin Film by Pulsed Laser Deposition and Its Application on Ultraviolet Detectors

Crystalline GaN films were grown on (0001) sapphire substrates in atmospheres of nitrogen by pulsed laser deposition. The properties of GaN thin films were improved by increasing the growth temperature to 680 oC and the nitrogen flow rate during growth to 150 sccm. The GaN film grown at 680 oC in 100 sccm of nitrogen had a wurtzite structure with (0002) and (0004) orientations. The GaN film had an n-type carrier concentration of 1.5 × 1019 cm-3 and the electron mobility of 19.05 cm2/V·sec. The ultraviolet detector based on GaN grown on (0001) sapphire was fabricated and characterized. The current responsivity increase at λ >310 nm and remain reasonably flat for photons with wavelength from 347 nm to 366 nm.

土壤在作物的生长过程中起到了重要的作用,所以对于基于决策的作物生产管理,土壤信息是必需的。传统的土壤取样获取土壤信息技术耗时且成本高,尤其是对于大规模农田土壤信息测量。目前一些近地面的可连续测量的土壤信息传感器技术能够提供高精度的数字土壤信息地图,然而这些商业化的技术成熟的传感器通常需要单独使用。该文提出了将γ射线光谱仪GR320、利用电磁感应原理的EM38和EM31以及Veris3100和VerispH这些可在农田近地面连续测量的土壤特性测试传感仪器集成在一起同时使用的方案,介绍了此集成系统的硬件设备和相关特性参数以及今后需要继续研究解决的问题。利用该系统可一次获得不同的土壤特性参数数据,如土壤矿物质含量,不同深度的土壤电导率值和土壤pH值等,可避免多次测量车辆行走对土壤的压实。多传感器数据之间的互相补充可以进一步提高且更有利于精确农业中基于土壤信息的决策规划。该系统适用于大面积农田土壤特性测量。
