This article is about a report of the experiment of PRO/PET-saúde students in the anti-HIV tests implementation in the town of santa Cruz-RN. The goal is to report the importance and discuss the aspects of the moment experienced above inside the basic health unit in the town of santa Cruz-RN. The experience occurred in the months from February to March 2014 and they were conducted within 8 hours per week. This way, it is observed that the period lived made possible great reflection about the making of the examination in the pre-natal appointment routines, cataloguing challenges which come up during their adequacy within the services. Lastly, the action developed aimed for the aggregation of an active learning process in the search for a critical sense in the experienced practice, allowing and prioritizing the basic health unit as a scope of reference and counter-reference in the public health service, increasing concrete answers and the needs of the population, guaranteeing an adequate service delivery and strengthening the sUs more and more. The insertion of students through the PRO/PET-saúde-Rede Cegonha enables a reorientation of professional formation, from the integration between service and teaching.

Cytomegalovirus is the most frequent agent of congenital viral infections,affecting approximately 0.2%-2.4%of live births in different countries[1-7].Universal screening for congenital cytomegalovirus infection in newborns is not a standard practice considering cost-benefit issues and viabil-ity of diagnostic ***,most newborns are asympto-matic and there is no effective treatment for this population[2-5].

This study explores how dust from the Ekati Diamond Mine potentially affects the availability and quality of forage on the seasonal range of the Bathurst caribou herd. Understanding the effects of dust as a source of disturbance is important because the Bathurst caribou population has declined by 93% since the middle 1980s and there are reports that caribou in general may avoid mining projects. There are several challenges for quantifying dust impacts: 1) Natural variations (e.g., topography, natural disturbance, and soil pH) may also impact forage availability and quality for caribou. To minimize their masking effect, we stratified survey sites into seven land cover classes and selected the most populous class (i.e., the dwarf shrub) for assessing the impact. 2) Within class variation (e.g., the proportion of area covered by rocks where vascular plants and lichen do not grow) can further skew the analysis. We eliminated this problem by examining only the area not covered by rocks. 3) Coarse and fine suspended particulates have different spatial coverages, chemical compositions, and pH values. Consequently, their impacts on caribou forage can be different. To distinguish their impacts, we sampled two areas: transects from the Misery Haul Road that has been in active use vs. those from a rarely used spur road outside the Misery Camp. We sampled percent vegetation cover, soil pH, and dust on leaves along these transects during the summers of 2015 and 2016. Our results indicated that the amount of dust on leaves in a zone of ~1000 m from the Misery Haul Road was 3 - 9 times than that of background sites. The zone of reduced lichen percent cover was also about 1000 m. In contrast, these road dust-induced changes in caribou forage were not observed for the dust-free transect from the spur road.

Response to vernalization and photoperiod are the main determinants controlling the time to flowering in temperate cereals. While the individual genes that determine a plant's response to these environmental signals are well characterized, the combinatorial effect on flowering time of allelic variants for multiple genes remains unresolved. This study investigated the genetic control of flowering-time in a biparental population of spring barley, derived from a wide cross between a late-flowering European and an early-flowering North-American cultivar. While the major flowering time genes are not segregating in the Beka ×Logan cross, large variation in flowering was observed. We identified five QTL, with both parents found to contribute early alleles. The catalog of QTL discovered aligns with several candidate genes affecting flowering time in barley. The combination of particular alleles at HvCEN, HvELF3 and HvFT1 in Logan are responsible for the earliness of this cultivar. Interestingly, earliness for flowering could be further enhanced, with Beka found to contribute three early alleles, including a QTL colocating with a HvFD-like gene, suggesting that there are diverse aspects of the flowering-time pathway that have been manipulated in these two cultivars. Epistatic interactions between flowering-time QTL or candidate genes were observed in field data and confirmed under controlled conditions. The results of this study link photoperiod-dependent flowering-time genes with earliness per se genes into a single model, thus providing a unique framework that can be used by geneticists and breeders to optimize flowering time in barley.

Background: Dengue is a Neglected tropical disease (NTDs) with high incidence in Brazil. This disease is caused by Dengue virus and is transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquito. The search for new approaches for controlling of this disease is the subject of numerous studies. The aaNAT is a key enzyme in the metabolism of A. aegypti and is crucial in the sclerotization process, as well as regulation of circadian rhythm and inactivation of neurotransmitters. Computational techniques applied to studies of biological systems become an effective weapon in the mapping and management of 3D data structures, giving direction and guidance of potential ligands that can form stable complexes with targets of interest, using a Molecular Docking approach. The present study was conducted by a virtual screening, followed by docking calculations, in order to find molecules that could inhibit aaNAT. In this study, we used available compounds in saM database (Bioinformatics and Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory—southwest Bahia state University, Jequié-Bahia, Brazil), PubChem and ZINC. Results: The result of dockings with selected ligands showed good energy affinities, presenting potential inhibitory interactions with the enzyme active site. Conclusions: The Coa-s-acetyl-tryptamine and 3-indoleacriloil-coenzyme-A showed the same binding energies -8.9 Kcal/Mol and were described as possible inhibitors of aaNAT.

Oral insulin delivery could change the life of millions of diabetic patients as an effective,safe,easy-to-use,and affordable alternative to insulin injections,known by an inherently thwarted patient ***,we designed a multistage nanoparticle(NP)system capable of circumventing the biological barriers that lead to poor drug absorption and bioavailability after oral *** nanosystem consists of an insulin-loaded porous silicon NP encapsulated into a pH-responsive lignin matrix,and surface-functionalized with the Fc fragment of immunoglobulin G,which acts as a targeting ligand for the neonatal Fc receptor(FcRn).The developed NPs presented small size(211±1 nm)and narrow size *** NPs remained intact in stomach and intestinal pH conditions,releasing the drug exclusively at pH 7.4,which mimics blood *** formulation showed to be highly cytocompatible,and surface plasmon resonance studies demonstrated that FcRn-targeted NPs present higher capacity to interact and being internalized by the Caco-2 cells,which express FcRn,as demonstrated by Western ***,in vitro permeability studies showed that Fc-functionalized NPs induced an increase in the amount of insulin that permeated across a Caco-2/HT29-MTX co-culture model,showing apparent permeability coefficients(Papp)of 2.37×10􀀀6 cm/s,over the 1.66×10􀀀6 cm/s observed for their non-functionalized ***,these results demonstrate the potential of these NPs for oral delivery of anti-diabetic drugs.

Molecular surveillance of dengue virus in Bahia state, Brazil

Dengue is an important emerging viruses, posing a threat to one-third of the global human population. In 2002, the introduction of DENV-3 in the state of Bahia produced massive epidemic (about 35,000 cases detected) and the first cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever. To understand the nature of the virus circulating at Bahia, E/Ns1 sequence was determined for 31 DENV viruses isolated in Bahia during the 2006 and 2007 transmission season, from patients presenting with different degrees of severity. The carboxi-terminal region of the E gene (220 nt) of 31 viruses, isolated from dengue patients with clinical diagnosis of dengue infection were used to determine the genetic variability of dengue 2 (DENV-2) and dengue 3 (DENV-3). sequence data were used in phylogenetic comparisons with global samples of DENV-2 and DENV-3. DENV-2 sample grouped in the south East Indian genotype, while DENV-3 samples were grouped within Indian genotype. This study is the first report on Bahia isolates during two transmission seasons. Our data confirms reports from other parts of Brazil and different countries showing the DENV-3 (geno-type III) strains circulating in the Americas are closely related, and cluster within the genotype that has been associated with DHF epidemics in different conti-nents.

Background: COVID-19 is a rapidly transmissible pneumonia-like illness caused by saRs-CoV-2 that out broke in China in 2019 and is currently circulating worldwide. In the current context of the saRs-CoV-2 pandemic, complications are observed in clinical settings for the treatment of severe COVID-19 disease in nosocomial settings, due to cases of fungal co-infections. Objective: To carry out a review on fungal infections associated with respiratory infections caused by COVID-19 (sars-Cov-2) and their aggravation. Methodology: The purpose of this study is to inform the reader about the characteristics of saRs-CoV-2 and the main fungal species that are affecting patients undergoing treatment for severe COVID-19, provoking discussion of the importance of the proposed topic, in relation to co-infections by different fungal microorganisms. Result: 80 scientific studies were selected, resulting from patients with COVID-19 and most commonly observed in patients with a history of comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, kidney disease, severe liver disease, oncological diseases, obesity and with severe COVID-19. These data do not represent the total number of records of the disease in the world, but cases reported by researchers in their series, showing the overlapping of fungal co-infection through the compromised immune status due to the use of therapeutic drugs, dysregulation of the microbiota, age of patients and the severity itself of the severe inflammation caused by COVID-19. Conclusion: The immunosuppression caused by the infection of COVID-19 concomitant with its therapy through corticosteroid therapy and comorbidities of the patients made fungal infections more susceptible, and these interfere in the evolution of the case and in the treatment of COVID-19, being relevant to distinguish secondary infections to therapy and the best possible reconstitution of the clinical picture.

＜正＞ A constitutive viscoelastic damage modelling has been developed in the framework of anisotropic damage theory. This mechanical modelling can be classified in the rotating crack formulation category. It includes orthotropic damage induced by AsR swelling, delayed strains and mechanical loads. Coupling between all sources of orthotropic damage is done by a generalised weakest link approach. Data for the mechanical modelling are macroscopic mechanical characteristics （Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio, tensile strength, compressive strength, tensile fracture energy） and parameters defining AsR swelling. This macroscopic coupling damage modelling has been implemented into the finite element code CAsT3M. This implementation allows simulating strains, stresses and damages evolutions. A numerical simulation for a simple bending beam loaded by its dead weight and submitted to AsR affected by an external moisture gradient has been carried out. Comparison between experimental observations and numerical predictions are discussed.
