Purpose:Academics are at the forefront of criticisms about so-called“fake news”considered to undermine evidence-based approaches to the understanding of complex social,political,and economic ***,universities contribute to the production of fake news through the legitimization of measures that promote student performativity rewarding their academic *** conceptual article will seek to illustrate how this can occur via the writing of methodology chapters by postgraduate ***/Approach/Methods:This article provides a critical analysis of the writing of methodology chapters in dissertations and theses in postgraduate education in the social *** so doing,it applies the concept of performativity to student ***:It is argued that the pressures on students to comply with the requirements of emotional performativity in respect to ideology and method in close-up,qualitative research can lead to fake *** phenomenon may be exemplified by reference to a number of practices,namely,phony positionality,methodolatry,ethical cleansing,participatory posturing,and symbolic ***/Value:This article provides an illustration of the concept of student *** demonstrates that emotional performativity plays a significant role in the way in which students are required to comply with expectations that give rise to inauthenticity in learning.

MicroRNAs(miRNAs) provide insight into both the biology and clinical behavior of many human cancers, including nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC). The dysregulation of miRNAs in NPC results in a variety of tumor-promoting effects. Furthermore, several miRNAs are prognostic markers for NPC. In addition to cellular miRNAs, NPC samples also often contain miRNAs encoded by Epstein-Barr virus, and these miRNAs may impact NPC biology by targeting both cellular and viral genes. Given their numerous putative roles in NPC development and progression, a thorough understanding of the impact of miRNA dysregulation in NPC is expected to shed light on useful biomarkers and therapeutic targets for the clinical management of this disease. In this review, we describe the efforts to date to identify and characterize such miRNAs in the context of NPC.

The concepts of conditional expectations, martingales and stopping times were extended to the Riesz space context by Kuo, Labuschagne and Watson （Discrete time stochastic processes on Riesz spaces, Indag. Math.,15（2004）, 435-451）. Here we extend the definition of an asymptotic martingale （amart） to the Riesz spaces context, and prove that Riesz space amarts can be decomposed into the sum of a martingale and an adapted sequence convergent to zero. Consequently an amart convergence theorem is deduced.

Coal burst is a dynamic release of energy within the rock （or coal） mass leading to high velocity expulsion of the broken/failed material into mine openings. This phenomenon has been recognised as one of the most catastrophic failures associated with the coal mining industry, which can often lead to injuries and fatalities of miners as well as significant production losses. This paper aims to examine the mecha- nisms contributing to coal burst occurrence, with an emphasis on the energy release concept. In this study, a numerical modelling study has been conducted to evaluate the roles and contributions of differ- ence energy components. The energy analysis presented in this paper can help to improve the under- standing of energy release mechanisms esoeciallv under Australian conditions.

This paper presents a block-based secure and robust watermarking technique for color images based on multi-resolution decomposition and *** principal objective of the presented scheme is to simultaneously meet all the four requirements(robustness,security,imperceptibility,and capacity)of a good watermarking *** contribution of this study is to basically achieve the four contradictory requirements that a good watermarking scheme must *** do so,different approaches are combined in a way that the four requirements are *** instance,to obtain imperceptibility,the three color channels(red,green,and blue)are de-correlated using principal component analysis,and the first principal component(de-correlated red channel)is chosen for watermark ***,to achieve robustness,the de-correlated channel is decomposed using a discrete wavelet transform(DWT),and the approximate band(the other three bands are kept intact to preserve the edge information)is further decomposed into distinct *** random blocks are chosen based on a random generated *** random selected blocks are further broken down into singular values and *** on the mutual dependency on singular values and vectors’matrices,the values are modified depending on the watermarking bits,and their locations are saved and used as another key,required when the watermark is to be ***,two-level authentication levels ensure the security,and using both singular values and vectors increases the capacity of the presented ***,the involvement of both left and right singular vectors along with singular values in the watermarking embedding process strengthens the robustness of the proposed ***,to compare the presented scheme with the state-of-the-art schemes in terms of imperceptibility(peak signal-to-noise ratio and structural similarity index),security(with numerous fake keys),robustness(normalized correlation and bit error rate)

We investigate the 2- and 3-state ferromagnetic Ports models on the simple cubic lattice using the tensor renorrealization group method with higher-order singular value decomposition （FIOTRG）. HOTRG works in the thermodynamic limit, where we use the Zq symmetry of the model, combined with a new measure for detecting the transition, to improve the accuracy of the critical point for the 2-state model by two orders of magnitude, obtaining Tc = 4.51152469（1）. The 3-state model is far more complex, and we improve the overall understanding of this case by calculating its thermodynamic quantities with high accuracy. Our results verify that the first-order nature of the phase transition and the HOTRG transition temperature benchmarks the most recent Monte Carlo result.

AIM: To test the hypothesis that cellular uncoupling induced by myocardial ischemia is mediated by activation of cmitochondrial ATP-sensitive potassium channels (mitoKATP). METHODS: Rat hearts were perfused on a Langendorff apparatus and subjected to 40-min ischemia followed by 30-min reperfusion (I/R). Changes in cellular coupling were monitored by measuring whole-tissue resistance. RESULTS: (1) In hearts subjected to I/R, the onset of uncoupling started at (13.3±1.0) mm of ischemia; (2) Ischemic preconditioning (IPC) delayed the onset of uncoupling until (22.7±1.3) min. We study the propulsion matrix of bacterial flagella numerically using slender body theory and the regularized Stokeslet method in a biologically relevant parameter regime. All three independent elements of the matrix are measured by computing propulsive force and torque generated by a rotating flagellum, and the drag force on a translating flagellum. Nu- merical results are compared with the predictions of resistive force theory, which is often used to interpret micro-organism propulsion. Neglecting hydrodynamic interactions between different parts of a flagellum in resistive force theory leads to both qualitative and quantitative discrepancies between the theoretical prediction of resistive force theory and the numerical results. We improve the original theory by empirically incorporating the effects of hydrodynamic interactions and propose new expressions for propulsive matrix elements that are accurate over the parameter regime explored.
