Antimicrobial use in livestock is faced with various challenges including emergence of antimicrobial resistance and presence of drug residues in meat products,hence the need for *** aim of this work was to assess the effect a plant(Zehneria scabra)extract on Salmonella infected quails,as an alternative to antibiotic *** were randomly assigned into six groups each containing twelve *** neutral control(T0)group was not infected and received tap water whereas other groups were *** negative control(T-)received tap *** positive control(T+)received a single dose of oxytetracycline(20 mg/kg).T1,T2 andT3 orally received the plant extract at the following respective doses:9,18 and 37 mg/*** were infected by oral administration of a single dose of Salmonella Enteritidis(10^(5)CFU).Haematological and biochemical parameters were *** day 2 to day 9 to day 16,the bacterial load of all treatment groups(T+,T1,T2,T3)*** infection resulted in a significant(p<0.05)increase in serum levels of alanine aminotransferase,triglycerides,total cholesterol and white blood cells,and a significant decrease in the liver and kidney protein *** treatment resulted in the correction of the aforementioned *** plant extract(18 mg/kg)is as effective as oxytetracycline,and can be safely used in phytomedicine for the treatment of Salmonella Enteritidis infection without kidney and liver damage.

Controversial pigmented lesions in children are a problem for pathologist, clinicians and families that are confronted with this dilemma. Some skin lesions in this population defy diagnosis with pathologists split between a benign diagnosis and a cancer diagnosis. Three cases of controversial pigmented lesions in the pediatric population are presented. Three patients underwent radical resection of the controversial pigmented lesion, intra-operative lymphatic mapping and sentinel lymph node(SLN) biopsy. Due to the low morbidity of the SLN procedure a case is made to perform lymphatic mapping in this clinical scenario. If the SLNs are negative, not much is lost except for the scar and this becomes another line of evidence that perhaps the original lesion was benign. If the SLN shows metastatic cells, then the original skin lesion must be malignant and the patient is offered stage Ⅲ recommendations that would include complete node dissections and adjuvant Interferon therapy. This strategy provides for adequate treatment of the worse-case scenario, that the skin lesion is malignant. The cost to the patient is a low morbidity procedure, the SLN biopsy.

Despite high initial response rates,acute myeloid leukemia(AML)treated with the BCL-2-selective inhibitor venetoclax(VEN)alone or in combinations commonly acquires *** performed gene/protein expression,metabolomic and methylation analyses of isogenic AML cell lines sensitive or resistant to VEN,and identified the activation of RAS/MAPK pathway,leading to increased stability and higher levels of MCL-1 protein,as a major acquired mechanism of VEN resistance.

The practice of integrated fish farming and the use of local fish meal and manure for fish feeding in Cameroon constitute potential sources of resistant pathogenic bacteria in the fish pond ***,a periodical and constant monitoring of the microbiological quality of fish pond is *** study was to assess the microbial contamination of Mfou aquaculture production site and evaluate the antibiotic resistance profile of bacterial fish *** of pond water(n=36),sediment(n=36),fishmeal(n=12)and African catfish(Clarias gariepinus),kanga(Heterotis niloticus)and Nile Tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus)(n=36,each)were collected to determine TVAC(Total Viable Aerobic Bacterial Count),FC(Fungal Count),SAC(Staphylococcus aureus count),TCC(Total Coliform Count)and FCC(Feacal Coliform Count).The fish skin isolates of ***,Enterobacter sakazakii,Citrobacter freundii,Serratia fonticola,Klebsiella oxytoca,Proteus spp.,Aeromonas hydrophila,Kluyvera spp.,Moraxella spp.,Pasteurella multocida and Pseudomonas fluorescens were tested against penicillin G(10μg),chloramphenicol(30μg),sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim(25μg),erythromycin(15μg),tetracycline(30μg),using the disk diffusion *** reveal a heavy contamination of fish farms with microbial load above the recommended *** study indicates that fish ponds are sources of zoonotic pathogens underlining their epidemiological and clinical *** bacterial isolates were multiresistant with a multiple antibiotic resistance index above *** data raise concern about the microbial contamination of aquaculture and associated public health risks in Cameroon.

[背景]流行病学文献表明,空气污染物暴露与胎儿的发育相关联。[目的]探讨产妇在妊娠2-8周期间的空气污染物暴露及其与先天性心脏缺陷的关联。[方法]此项出生缺陷预防研究是一项由9个州参加的病例对照研究。给参加这项研究的妊娠妇女分配1周和7周里一氧化碳、二氧化氮、臭氧、二氧化硫的每日最高浓度平均值,以及细颗粒物和粗颗粒物的24 h测量值,采用的方法是在妊娠早期收集这些妇女住所50 km内最接近的空气监测点的测量值。根据不同的污染物,最多4 632例活产对照和3 328例活产、死胎或流产病例有空气污染暴露的数据。应用分层回归模型,并以产妇的人口统计学、烟草和酒精使用情况进行调整。对于多污染物共同暴露的情况,则采用主成分分析来评估这些关联。[结果]二氧化氮暴露与主动脉缩窄及肺动脉瓣狭窄之间存在正性关联。细颗粒物暴露与左室发育不良心脏综合征呈正性相关,但与房间隔缺损呈负性相关。检测个体的暴露周数表明,使用7周的平均水平未观察到污染物与缺陷之间的关联。多污染物分析的结果支持左室流出道阻塞与二氧化氮之间、左室发育不良心脏综合征与颗粒物之间存在关联,尽管在最高的暴露水平时估计值是下降的。[结论]采用每日最高污染物水平探讨个体暴露周数揭示了某些污染物与心脏缺陷之间存在一些正向关联,并且提示在妊娠期间存在潜在的敏感性窗口期。
