Aims We aim to under.tand how small-scale genotypic r.chness and gen-otypic inter.ctions influence the biomass and potential invasiveness of the invasive gr.ss,Phalar.s ar.ndinacea under.two differ.nt dis-tur.ance tr.atments:intact plots and distur.ed plots,wher. all the native vegetation has been ***,we addr.ss the following questions(i)Does genotypic r.chness incr.ase biomass pr.duction?(ii)Do genotypic inter.ctions pr.mote or.r.duce bio-mass pr.duction?(iii)Does the effect of genotypic r.chness and gen-otypic inter.ctions differ.in differ.nt distur.ance tr.atments?Finally(iv)Is phenotypic var.ation gr.ater.as genotypic r.chness incr.ases?Methods We conducted a 2-year.common gar.en exper.ment in which we manipulated genotype r.chness using eight genotypes planted under.both intact and distur.ed conditions in a wetland in Bur.ington,Ver.ont(44°27′23″N,73°11′29″W).The exper.ment consisted of a r.ndomized complete block design of thr.e blocks,each containing 20 plots(0.5 m2)per.distur.ed *** calculated total plot biomass and par.itioned the net biodiver.ity effect into thr.e com-ponents:dominance effect,tr.it-dependent complementar.ty and tr.it-independent *** calculated the phenotypic var.ance for.each differ.nt genotype r.chness tr.atment under.the two distur.ance *** Findings Our.r.sults indicate that local genotypic r.chness does not incr.ase total biomass pr.duction of the invasive gr.ss *** in either.intact or.distur.ed ***,genotypic inter.ctions under.ying the r.sponses showed ver. differ.nt patter.s in r.sponse to incr.asing genotypic *** the intact tr.atment,genotypic inter.ctions r.sulted in the obser.ed biomass being gr.ater.than the pr.dicted biomass fr.m monocultur. plots(e.g.,over.ielding)and this was dr.ven by ***,facilitation was r.duced as genotypic r.chness *** the distur.ed tr.atment,genotypic inter.ctions r.sulted in under.ielding w

A molecular.level kinetics model has been developed for.the pyr.lysis of heavy r.sidual oil. r.sid str.ctur. was modeled in ter.s of thr.e attr.bute gr.ups: cor.s, inter.cor. linkages, and side chains. The concentr.tions of attr.butes wer. constr.ined by pr.bability density functions (PDFs) that wer. optimized by minimizing the differ.nce between the pr.per.ies of the computational r.pr.sentation-which wer. obtained by juxtaposing the attr.butes-to measur.d pr.per.ies, which wer. obtained by analytical chemistr. measur.ments. Computational tools wer. used to build a r.action networ. that was constr.cted based upon model compounds and their.associated kinetics. For.cases with an intr.ctable number.of species, equations wer. wr.tten in ter.s of the thr.e attr.bute gr.ups and the molecular.composition was r.tained implicitly thr.ugh the juxtaposition. These modeling methods wer. applied to the Shengli and Daqing r.sids. The composition of the simulated molecular.feedstock fit well with analytical chemistr. measur.ments. After.simulated pyr.lysis, both r.sids showed r.pr.sentative incr.ases in the weight fr.ctions of lighter.hydr.car.ons. r.levant end-use pr.per.ies wer. pr.dicted for.the pr.duct mixtur.s.
