Inflammation is a driving force of hematopoietic stem cells(HSCs) aging, causing irreversible exhaustion of functional HSCs. However, the underlying mechanism of HSCs erosion by inflammatory insult remains poorly understood. Here, we find that transient LPS exposure primes aged HSCs to undergo accelerated differentiation at the expense of self-renewal, leading to depletion of HSCs. Meanwhile, the central regulator nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB) mediating functional impairment by inflammation insult induces differential transcriptional response in aged HSCs compared with young HSCs, with precocious activation of myeloid lineage genes. Altered compartmentalization and chromatin loop formation are associated with aging-related differential transcriptional response in HSCs upon lipopolysaccharide(LPS)stimulation. Mechanistically, enhancer and promoter regions of myeloid lineage genes in aged HSCs are more accessible and display more rapid and prominent CTCF occupancy upon LPS stimulation. Our study provides comprehensive resources for the three-dimensional(3D)genome structure of HSCs and sheds light into the ordered genome organization and the associated transcriptome signature underlying HSCs aging.

For quickly clearing up a fault of distribution lines, which concerned with complex structure and operating modes, a directional comparison protection is necessary. The paper evaluated the traditional directional relay through modeling a typical distribution system and presented a novel negative sequence directional relay and a new directional comparison protection scheme specially designed for distribution systems. In the relay and the protection scheme, a particular negative sequence component has been constructed to solve the problem that there is no negative sequence component in a symmetrical fault case so that they could operate correctly in both asymmetrical fault and symmetrical fault. Extensive EMTP simulation studies proved that the protection schemes are able to provide fast and reliable responses for all fault conditions. In particular, they are able to give correct responses adapting to the change of system operation conditions, including the changing of system configuration, power flow direction, and source and tapped-offload conditions.

The present study aimed to determine whether the number of patients with symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)who preferred surgery decreased during the past 11 years at our center(West China Hospital,Chengdu,China),and whether this change affected the timing of surgery and the physical condition of surgical *** retrospective study included 57557 patients with BPH treated from January 2008 to December *** these,5427 patients were treated *** patients were divided into two groups based on the time of treatment(groups 8-13 and groups 13-18).The collected data comprised the percentage of all patients with BPH who underwent surgery,baseline characteristics of surgical patients,rehabilitation time,adverse events,and hospitalization *** surgery rates in groups 8-13 and groups 13-18 were 10.5%and 8.5%(Plure decreased from 15.0%to 10.6%(P<0.001)and from 5.2%to 3.1%(P<0.001),*** groups 8-13 and groups 13-18,the mean catheterization times were 4.0±1.7 days and 3_3±1.6 days(P<0.001),respectively,and the mean postoperative hospitalization times were 5.1±2.4 days and 4.2±1.8 days(P<0.001),*** incidences of unplanned second surgery and death reduced during the study *** surgery rate decreased over time,which suggests that medication was chosen over ***,the percentage of late complications of BPH also decreased over time,which indicates that the timing of surgery was not delayed.

Geohazard Recognition and Inventory Mapping Using Airborne LiDAR Data in Complex Mountainous Areas

Geohazard recognition and inventory mapping are absolutely the keys to the establishment of reliable susceptibility and hazard maps. However, it has been challenging to implement geohazards recognition and inventory mapping in mountainous areas with complex topography and vegetation cover. Progress in the light detection and ranging(Li DAR) technology provides a new possibility for geohazard recognition in such areas. Specifically, this study aims to evaluate the performances of the Li DAR technology in recognizing geohazard in the mountainous areas of Southwest China through visually analyzing airborne Li DAR DEM derivatives. Quasi-3 D relief image maps are generated based on the sky-view factor(SVF), which makes it feasible to interpret precisely the features of geohazard. A total of 146 geohazards are remotely mapped in the entire 135 km^(2) study area in Danba County, Southwest China, and classified as landslide, rock fall, debris flow based on morphologic characteristics interpreted from SVF visualization maps. Field validation indicate the success rate of Li DAR-derived DEM in recognition and mapping geohazard with higher precision and accuracy. These mapped geohazards lie along both sides of the river, and their spatial distributions are related highly to human engineering activities, such as road excavation and slope cutting. The minimum geohazard that can be recognized in the 0.5 m resolution DEM is about 900 m^(2). Meanwhile, the SVF visualization method is demonstrated to be a great alternative to the classical hillshaded DEM method when it comes to the determination of geomorphological properties of geohazard. Results of this study highlight the importance of Li DAR data for creating complete and accurate geohazard inventories, which can then be used for the production of reliable susceptibility and hazard maps and thus contribute to a better understanding of the movement processes and reducing related losses.

A series of Ti2ZrHf0.5VNbx( x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0) refractory high-entropy alloys were prepared to investigate the alloying effect of Nb on the microstructures and mechanical *** the alloys displayed a simple BCC *** microstructures of the alloys changed from the initial single-phase columnar structure( x = 0) to dendrite microstructure( x > 0).At room temperature, all the alloys exhibited high ductility(with the compressive strains of more than 50%).With the increase in Nb content, the yield strength slightly decreased from 1160 to 980 MPa and the hardness dropped from 338 to 310 ***, the alloys exhibited low density from 6.47 to 6.84 g/cm3 and high specific yield strength(SYS) from 143 to 179 kPa m3/*** comprehensive performance of ductility and SYS was superior to most of the reported highentropy *** yield strength of the alloys increased from 405 to 859 MPa and from 85 to 195 MPa with the addition of Nb element at 873 K and 1073 K, respectively.

Improved plane layout of stabilizing piles based on the piecewise function expression of the irregular driving force

The paper presents an improved plane layout for stabilizing piles based on a proposed piecewise function expression for the irregular driving force. Based on the specific morphological characteristics of a highway landslide, the piecewise function is used to calculate the irregular driving force by dividing the landslide into several ***, the reasonable layout range and pile spacing can be obtained based on the piecewise function expression of the irregular driving force and on relevant research results of the plane layout for stabilizing piles. Therefore, an improved plane layout of stabilizing piles is presented in consideration of a piecewise function expression of the irregular driving force. A highway landslide located in eastern Guizhou Province, China, is analyzed as a case study using the proposed method. The results demonstrate that the theory presented in this paper provides improved economic benefits and can reduce the requirednumber of stabilizing piles by 28.6% compared with the conventional plane layout scheme.

Better well logging techniques for geologic investigations are urgently needed to identify and evaluate complex *** describe a new type of 3D transmitter station with corresponding circuits and *** can be used in a promising new technique of acoustic reflection well logging,that features better azimuthal detection capabilities,as well as better investigation *** transmitter stations consist of three-level subarrays that can radiate acoustic energy in any required azimuth of 3D space by circularly exciting various combinations at different *** tested the 3D acoustic transmitter stations and obtained laboratory directivity measurements with the3 D acoustic transmitter stations for the first *** results show that the 3-d B beam width in the horizontal plane ranges from 59° to 67° as a result of phase-delayed *** main beam is steered in the vertical plane at a deflection angle that ranges from 0° to 16° when the delay time of the excitation pulse between each pair of adjacent arc arrays is gradually *** 3-d B beam width is equal to 11°,whereas the deflection angle in the vertical plane is equal to 14°.Each of the four third-level subarrays in the same circumferential direction display consistent horizontal and vertical directivities,thus satisfying the requirements of azimuthal acoustic reflection logging.
